Check out this wonderful piece of engineering, the
Bell-Boeing V-22 Osprey, a military multi-mission tiltrotor aircraft with both a vertical takeoff and landing (VTOL) and short takeoff and landing (STOL) capability, designed to 'combine the functionality of a conventional helicopter with the long-range, high-speed cruise performance of a turboprop aircraft'. Its origins can be traced back to 1980-1981, right after the failure of
Operation Eagle Claw, meant to free US hostages held in Iran, demonstrated the need for "a new type of aircraft, that could not only take off and land vertically but also could carry combat troops, and do so at speed." The end result was the V-22 Osprey, with a program cost of
US$35.6 billion and a unit cost (for an MV-22) of
US$69.3 million (flyaway cost for FY2012).
Last week an Osprey was used for the
sole purpose of transporting:
... Barack Obama's dog Bo to Martha's Vineyard, Massachusetts, for the prez's umpteenth holiday this year.o
There may be no more money for White House Tours because thos eeeeeevil Republicans insisted on the sequestration, that gruesome 2 per cent cut in the governments scheduled growth of expenses, but there is plenty of money to airlift a Portuguese water dog with a technological marvel normally used for transporting Marines to a war zone.
What I don't understand is how the smoke and mirrors creep who is shitting on AMERICA day and night, and has made a sport of laughing the American people in the face, can get away with it all.
Anyway, don't miss Bill Whittle's priceless take on this latest outrageous abuse of presidential power:
MFBB.
