FINAL F-4 PHANTOM FLIGHT ON DEC. 21, HOLLOMAN AFB, NEW MEXICO.

As a kid in the early seventies, I was already aware - and in awe - of that magnificent air superiority fighter known as the F-4 Phantom. Buck Danny comics may have played a role in my fascination, although there's only a couple of albums in that series in which our hero flew the type.

And I recall reading a air mag in the late eighties, celebrating "Thirty Years of Phabulous Phantom". It was a British aeronautical magazine, I still have it somewhere. Anyway, by that time the F-4 was already a grizzled old veteran.

And now, again almost thirty years later, the curtain is finally about to fall: via John Smith over at American Thinker:

"The final flight and retirement ceremony for the venerable F-4 Phantom will be December 21 at Holloman AFB, New Mexico. The Phantom is still in active service at Holloman with Detachment 1 of the 82nd Aerial Targets Squadron.

The F-4 first flew in 1958 and set 15 world records for in-flight performance, including an absolute speed record and an absolute altitude record. It first entered active service with the Navy in 1960 and eventually became the frontline fighter not only with the Navy, but also with the Air Force and the Marines.

The Phantom was the fighter plane of the Vietnam generation and was the last U.S. fighter plane flown to achieve Ace status. To my knowledge, it was also the only aircraft to achieve a supersonic gun kill, also while in action over Vietnam. The Phantom was the mainstay of the U.S. Air Force and the U.S. Navy during the Cold War throughout the '70s and early eighties until replaced by F-15s, F-16s in the USAF, and F-14 Tomcats, and F/A 18 Hornets in the Navy. Phantoms also saw action in the Persian Gulf War as reconnaissance aircraft and as the "Wild Weasel," conducting anti-enemy air defense missions. The F-4 was finally removed from its combat role in 1996.

Over its production run, a total of 5,195 were built, making it the most numerous American supersonic military aircraft. Phantoms were also used by eleven other nations, including Israel, where the planes had extensive combat operations in the many Arab-Israeli conflicts. And it was the only aircraft to be used by both the Thunderbirds and the Blue Angels flight demonstration teams."

At the time I bought this album, in around 1987 or so - it was one of the last LP's I bought, CD's were all the hype - I found it slightly too polished and a bit synthesizer-overloaded. But here we are, almost thirty years later, and I still like it. Even better. Rush must be as good as dead though - I read somewhere that Neil Peart quit, and Rush without Peart is like a car with two wheels missing. He is widely considered the greatest drummer ever, but he was also Rush's main lyricist.

From a personal point of view, I find it sad that circumstances force me to reduce posting original material. Since I am so consumed by both company and family matters, I have to resort to refer to the material of others. But then this humble blog is not about me. It's about getting the truth out. And if there is only person out there who gets to know basic and essential info re the Maria Ladenburger case, which he would otherwise have missed on account of not being a Gates of Vienna regular, I would call it a success:





Maria Ladenburger could have lived, finished her medical studies, saved lives at some point in the future, given life herself.

All that is not going to be, because Maria is now a stiff corpse, lying about an hour driving from here in cold Brussels ground. Dead because of a hellish convergence of several ruinous factors: utterly insane cultural marxist dogmas as propagated by Germany's unworthy Chancellor, former (?) communist strongwoman Angela Merkel, and her lackeys in politics, the media, the educational and cultural sectors; the arrival in Germany, per Merkel's invitation, of hundreds upon hundreds of thousands of adherents of a gruesome, inhuman "religion", at the same time representatives of a vastly inferior and schmutzige "culture"; and last but not least, the brainwashing of this young promising woman at the hands of her mentally fucked up parents. "Dr" Clemens Ladenburger and his wife have the blood of their daughter on their hands.

I am very sorry to read that this once attractive young woman has been laid to rest in Brussels of all places, and not in her homeland, beautiful Germany. This is the final insult. Brussels, where unelected moguls and faceless bureaucrats decide the future of a continent against the will of the European peoples. Brussels, where insane social engineering plans to repopulate Europe with illegal aliens are concocted. Brussels, the nerve center of vainglorious leftist lunatics who have decreed that everything that made our continent so prosperous and successful in the first place has to yield to mysoginist rapists and paedophile worshippers. The multiculti scoundrels in Brussels have no problems replacing us with barely literate wifebeater types and their sad sacks of women, who are incapable of coming up with something bright, original, intelligent and of general benefit to Mankind.

Well, they have been very succesful thus far. In early 2015, Germany still counted a Maria Ladenburger among its citizens, a ray of hope for the future. Who might have become a successful surgeon ten years hence.

But Maria is no more.

Maria is gone.

C.) KIEL, GERMANY: AFRICAN MAN SETS WOMAN ALIGHT ON THE STREET.

"On Wednesday morning a gruesome scene took place on a road near a clinic in Kronshagen (Schleswig-Holstei). A 41-year old African man poured gasoline over his 38-year old wife and lit it. The victim ran away, tearing the burning clothes from her body. Thereupon the perpetrator set fire to her anew. All the time the woman would have cried "my children, my children". Passersby ran to the scene with blankets and fire extinguishers. "The woman burned like a torch", witnesses and a police spokesman said: "One could not tell anymore whether it was a woman or a man." The African male was arrested not far from the crime scene. The most important thing for us is now definitely to not jump to early conclusions and harbor bad feelings against the rich African culture in general.

Update: the woman died at around 5.30pm in a specialist clinic from her horrible wounds."

"According to the latest data released Monday by Italy’s National Institute of Statistics (Istat), 485,780 live births were registered in 2015, representing a drop of some 17,000 children relative to 2014. This is just the latest confirmation of a downward trend, with the yearly birthrate declining by 91,000 since 2008.

The decline was far sharper in births to couples both of whom are Italian citizens. Children born to Italian couples sank to 385,014 in 2015 (a drop of over 95,000 over the last seven years). Istat attributed the trend to two factors: ever fewer Italian women at childbearing age and an increasing unwillingness to have children among those who could.

Births to couples where at least one of the members is a non-Italian have continued to climb relative to births to Italian couples, and now make up 20.7 percent of the total yearly births nationwide, or just over one fifth.

The Institute also highlighted a precipitous drop in the marriage rate, with 52,000 fewer marriages in 2015 than in 2008. The birthrate within marriages has dropped even more than among the general population (a decline of nearly 120,000 births in just 7 years). At the same time, out-of-wedlock births have risen steadily as a percentage of all births, representing 28,7 percent of the total in 2015.

Summing up, Istat notes that the average number of children per woman has dropped to 1.35 in 2015 from 1.46 in 2010. Italian women have on average 1.27 children whereas foreign women residing in Italy give birth to an average of 1.94 children per woman..."

That is simply catastrophic.

I remember well my disappointment when I bought this album, somewhere in the summer of 1983. I had expected a second The Nylon Curtain, which had gone down very well with me, but An Innocent Man, the follow-up, is actually as totally different as can be, starting with the cover. Where The Nylon Curtain oozes a certain pessimism, An Innocent Man is an upbeat piece of work, which at first is a bit strange since the cover is all in black and grey (compared to TNC's yellow stylised, even naive optics) and Joel just came out of a divorce from his first wife. Must have had something to do with his dating Elle McPherson and Christie Brinkley.

By now, the whole world does not know about Abdul Razak Ali Artan, the Somali Cultural Enricher who on Monday drove into a crowd at Ohio State University, got out, and stabbed 10 of his colleagues.

'Not', because the news is sooooooooooooo yesterday. Also, it's got nothing to do with islam. Here's unequivocal proof, offered by none other than the people behind Ohio State's own news outlet The Lantern:

"On Monday afternoon, the Ohio State Department of Public Safety released the name of the suspect involved in the violent incident near Watts Hall — Abdul Razak Ali Artan, a third-year in logistics management. The Lantern had interviewed Artan as part of Humans of Ohio State, a print-only feature in The Lantern’s Arts&Life section. Below, The Lantern has reproduced the same interview that appeared in the Aug. 25 issue of the paper. The text below is a direct quote from Artan.


“I just transferred from Columbus State. We had prayer rooms, like actual rooms where we could go pray because we Muslims have to pray five times a day.

“There’s Fajr, which is early in the morning, at dawn. Then Zuhr during the daytime, then Asr in the evening, like right about now. And then Maghrib, which is like right at sunset and then Isha at night. I wanted to pray Asr. I mean, I’m new here. This is my first day. This place is huge, and I don’t even know where to pray.

“I wanted to pray in the open, but I was scared with everything going on in the media. I’m a Muslim, it’s not what the media portrays me to be. Some made it to Miami, others had the course of their lives altered by winding up in a watery grave. Among the many "individual lives" he "altered" was Mercedes Fernandez's, who before taking up residence in Castro's prison had never before had to "defecate parasites six centimeters long". As the Swedish author Johan Norberg remarked:


~ When I die, I want to die peacefully in my sleep, like Fidel Castro, not screaming in terror, like his victims.


That's a savage variation of the old gag: I want to die like my dad - peacefully in my sleep, not screaming in terror, like his bus passengers. On the other hand, Britain's Leader of the Opposition, Jeremy Corbyn, offered a more nuanced judgment:

So I have no particular quarrel with Mr Corbyn's assessment. But I wonder what particular strand of "social justice" he thinks Castro "championed"? Gay rights?


~ Fidel Castro denounced homosexuality as "a bourgeois perversion."


It's fine for the louche salons of British socialists, but don't try it in Havana, where "under Article 303a of the country's Penal Code, 'publicly manifested' homosexuality remains illegal".

Justin Trudeau enjoys "publicly manifested homosexuality" so much he's the first Prime Minister of Canada to march in the annual LGBTQWERTY parade. If he were minded to "publicly manifest" his enthusiasm in Cuba, he'd be arrested: "Social justice" isn't quite as sociable there as it is in Toronto. But don't let a little thing like that get in the way of some A-grade dictatorial crawling...

Under any circumstances, putting an irresponsible, ignorant man who takes his advice from all the wrong people in charge of the nation with the world’s most important economy would be very bad news. What makes it especially bad right now, however, is the fundamentally fragile state much of the world is still in, eight years after the great financial crisis.

It’s true that we’ve been adding jobs at a pretty good pace and are quite close to full employment. But we’ve been doing O.K. only thanks to extremely low interest rates. There’s nothing wrong with that per se. But what if something bad happens and the economy needs a boost? The Fed and its counterparts abroad basically have very little room for further rate cuts, and therefore very little ability to respond to adverse events.

Now comes the mother of all adverse effects — and what it brings with it is a regime that will be ignorant of economic policy and hostile to any effort to make it work. Effective fiscal support for the Fed? Not a chance. In fact, you can bet that the Fed will lose its independence, and be bullied by cranks.

So we are very probably looking at a global recession, with no end in sight. I suppose we could get lucky somehow. But on economics, as on everything else, a terrible thing has just happened..."
