SATURDAY NIGHT RUSH, BEN FOLDS FIVE.

Rush with Grand Designs. Album Power Windows (1985).

At the time I bought this album, in around 1987 or so - it was one of the last LP's I bought, CD's were all the hype - I found it slightly too polished and a bit synthesizer-overloaded. But here we are, almost thirty years later, and I still like it. Even better. Rush must be as good as dead though - I read somewhere that Neil Peart quit, and Rush without Peart is like a car with two wheels missing. He is widely considered the greatest drummer ever, but he was also Rush's main lyricist.

Ben Folds Five with Brick. From the album Whatever and Ever Amen (1997).

Sympathetic trio from North Carolina, formed in 1993, currently in hiatus. Members are (were?) Ben Folds (lead vocals, keyboards, piano, melodica, main songwriter), Robert Sledge (bass and contrabass, synthesizer, backing vocals) and Darren Jessee (drums, percussion, backing vocals, also a songwriter).

Good night.

MFBB.
