Hold your fire. I will repeat AGAIN, that I am - at best - okay with some kind of civil contract for gay couples. Marriage and adoption of children are off limits though. The following screenshot comes right off a leftwing site called Démocratie Militante Socialiste. I will spare you the translation of that leftozoid gibberish, the gist of it is that this site is highlighting the fact that from 2007 on, and over the five following years, amongst others gay marriage and gay adoption legislation comes up for vote and that people should know who's for and who's against. I think that you don't need to know French to understand what Le PS et la gauche se sont prononcés pour means. As for the candidate of the région Cote-d'Or, we see that it's Mme. Tenenbaum:





That site also sports a quote going "Le chemin vers une société du progrès humain passe par la sortie du capitalisme et de l'économie de marché." by a fella with the name Jacques Généreux, and that quote contains an oxymoron so baffling that you'd choke in it - since it was communist and socialist ideologies responsible for, oh, about 130-150 million deaths in the 20th century. But again, let's hold this topic off for another round.

Okay. Françoise Tenenbaum is fighting with ALL HER MIGHT FOR THE RIGHT OF HOMOSEXUAL COUPLES TO MARRY AND ADOPT CHILDREN. Françoise Tenenbaum is mounting the barricades for this kind of relationships:

THE SCANDAL OF THE SOI-DISANT "PEACE" SHIP MV RACHEL CORRIE.

In the wake of the bruhaha surrounding the seizing of the "humanitarian" "aid" convoy headed for Gaza by the Israeli navy, we have been treated to some kind of follow-up with the MV Rachel Corrie, luckily without deadly incidents.

Rachel Corrie was a thoroughly brainwashed, self-loathing American "peace" activist who foolishly got herself killed in 2003 in an encounter with an IDF bulldozer.

In response to a radio transmission by the Israeli Navy warning the Gaza flotilla that they are approaching a naval blockade, passengers of the Mavi Marmara respond, "Shut up, go back to Auschwitz" and "We're helping Arabs go against the US, don't forget 9/11".

Such amusing conversationalists.

These are not "humanitarian" "peace" "activists". These are, in any objective sense, a party to the conflict. They're not trying to bring "peace", they're trying to help their side win. That's their choice, and may the best man win, but the media collusion in presenting them as "humanitarian" "aid" workers is Orwellian - and all the more so in a world in which the Turkish Prime Minister accuses Israel of killing children on the beach and in which the doyenne of the White House press corps no longer recognizes Israel's "right to exist".

Now the Israeli navy is beseeching the MV Rachel Corrie (an Irish ship funded by the Malaysian government) to land in the port of Ashdod, where the authorities will deliver the (entirely unneeded) "humanitarian aid" to Gaza. The Rachel Corrie is flipping 'em the bird and saying "Gaza, here we come."

This ship is merely the latest memorial to Miss Corrie, a foolish young American killed while enjoying the frisson of vacationing in someone else's despair. There's never been a better time to read Tom Gross' piece on "The Forgotten Rachels":

Oh yeah... now that we are at it, you might want to know that "Peace Ship" MV Rachel Corrie is partially funded, together with the rest of the Gaza flotilla, by a Malaysian NGO, the Perdana Global Peace Organisation.

Its chairman is former Malaysian PM Mahathir bin Mohamad.

Just a couple of months ago, in January to be exact, Mr. Mohamad revealed himself to be a truther:

In January 2010, Mahathir stated the September 11 attacks, conducted by Arab Muslim terrorists and coordinated[citation needed] by Osama bin Laden would have been "staged" by a US government conspiracy to justify attacking Muslims,[60] a 9/11 conspiracy theory. He also said he was "more sensitive to the victims as I am saying this is done deliberately" and rejected comments that interpreted his statement as a publicity stunt. He added Jews "had always been a problem in European countries. They had to be confined to ghettoes and periodically massacred. But still they remained, they thrived and they held whole governments to ransom...Even after their massacre by the Nazis of Germany, they survived to continue to be a source of even greater problems for the world."

Back in the day, Mr. Mohamad's often made similar remarks. When Turkish president Erdogan recently foolishly accused Israel of "killing babies on the beaches", he was actually echoing his southeast Asian pal Mahathir, who in the wake of Operation Iraqi Freedom was quoted as saying:

"History should remember Blair and Bush as the killers of children or as the lying prime minister and president..."

Some nice peace activist huh? Maybe they should give him the Nobel Prize.

SATURDAY NIGHT THE PASSIONS, ELMER BERNSTEIN, DUBSTAR, CARL ORFF.

First, "I'm in love with a German filmstar" by The Passions, from 1981. The Passions were your archaetypical one hit wonder. Singer's Barbara Gogan.



I have never known someone to match the peculiar echoplex guitar accords by Clive Timperley. They still sound damn cool after almost thirty years.


Second, the theme from the movie "The Bridge at Remagen", directed by John Guillermin. I realize I'm a WWII buff, so I won't blame you if the name Remagen don't sound a bell. It's a small town on the western bank of the river Rhine and it boasted a bridge across that river, named after Erich Ludendorff. On March 7, 1945, troops from the 9th US Armored Division captured that bridge, effectively crossing Hitler's last natural barrier against the onstorming allies in the West. Elmer Bernstein composed the theme.





A pretty much okay theme imnsho. As for the movie itself, it's quite okay too. No masterpiece, but entertaining. What's annoying me somewhat though are the many factual errors. For one thing, the bridge was taken in early March, so trees should be leafless. Yet in the movie you'd get the impression it was almost high summer. Then there's the fact that the names of the historical key persons the actors represent are deliberately changed. For example, the US lieutenant whose platoon seizes the bridge is "Lt. Hartman" (played by George Segal). In reality, his name was Karl Timmermann, and he was the son of a WWI US trooper and a German fraulein, who followed Timmermann sr. back to the US of A - IIRC, to Frankfurt, Kentucky. Also IIRC, Lt. Timmermann died tragically of cancer during the Korean War.

Then there is the German major charged with the twofold task of a.) holding the bridge for as long as possible to allow a maximum of retreating German troops to cross the Rhine, and b.) of course blow it up at the last moment to prevent the Amis from getting into central Germany without getting their feet wet. In the film, that major is a certain Paul Krueger and he is played by Robert Vaughn, otherwise best known for his Napoleon Solo personage in the TV series The man from U.N.C.L.E. In reality, it was a major Scheller. To be sure, Scheller oversaw the blowing up of the bridge but because the wrong kind of explosives were used, his demolition squad only managed to slightly damage it.

There's an awful story to be told about the Remagen Bridge but this is Music Night after all, so I won't bother you anymore with wartime stories. Perhaps this one trivia thingy yet, though. German officials did not allow filming along the Rhine, so Guillermin shot the film along the Vltava in Czechoslovakia. It was 1968, and at some point the Ruskis invaded to crush the anti-communist revolt begun during the Prague Spring. It seems the whole set had to flee Czechoslovakia to Germany by... taxis!

Carmina Burana is actually the title of a medieval manuscript containing no less than 254 poems and texts, found in the Bavarian abbey of Beuren (the latin title means litterally songs from Beuren). Carl Orff got the inspiration for the music piece he gave the same name, from a selected set of works in the manuscript. I wrote 'short exerpt'. What you hear is the actual hymn that precedes and conludes CB. This hymn is called O Fortuna.

THE PLANNED CORDOBA MOSQUE AT GROUND ZERO: AMERICANS, ARE YOU COMPLETELY OUT OF YOUR MIND TO LET THIS HAPPEN?

Before I let Pat Condell blast away at the horrifying outrage of muslims being allowed to build a thirteen-story high islamic cultural center plus mosque virtually on the hallowed ground where almost 3,000 innocent people were murdered BY MUSLIMS, there's a thing or two you should know about the proposed name, the Cordoba mosque.

Cordoba was conquered by a muslim army in 711, barely 80 years after Mohammed's death. It's a city in southern Spain that became the capital of first the emirate and then the caliphate of al-Andalus, which is how the muslim conquerors called present-day Spain. Since Charles Martel botched their effort to conquer the rest of Western Europe at Poitiers in 732, the muslims, in casu the Ummayad dynasty, set on consolidating their hold of the Iberian peninsula, and for a relatively short time succeeded beyond expectation. Indeed, the Ummayad's were so successful that for some time, Cordoba even overshadowed any other city in the entire muslim world, boasting, in the late 10th century, a population of 500,000 and 700 mosques. Inevitably, the relatively bening reign of the Ummayads gave way to more severe dynasties, the last of one which was the dynasty of the Almohads. In case you're interested, that lone famous muslim multi-disciplinarian scientist Averroes (Ibn Rushd), who INVARIABLY turns up when drooling leftozoids deem it necessary to point out how backward Europe was in the Middle Ages compared to the muslim world, was a native of Cordoba. What these know-it-alls who can't tell you any other name of a muslim scientist (though admittedly, there were others) always fail to tell you, is that Averroes only escaped death because of his writings on account of his qualities as a physician, and that he was banished to Morocco.

The bottom line is that muslims regard the somewhat less than 800 years of islamic rule in Spain as a golden age, and the statewise embodiment of that age, the caliphate of al-andalus, as the most successful muslim nation of all time. And the capital of that most successful muslim nation of all time was... Cordoba. As a symbol, it is quite telling that muslims have opted for this name for a mosque in the heart of "the great satan". Mayor Bloomberg, that ball-less carcass, can drool whatever he wants on the wonders of multiculturalism, interfaith dialogue and diversity, but muslims see it differently. Al-Zawahiri himself referred to the "tragedy of al-Andalus" right after 9/11, lamenting the loss of muslim Spain to the Christian. The supposedly 'moderate' muslim bridge builders in NYC, by choosing the name Cordoba, have given definite proof that they are completely on the same line with one of the key architects of the massacre just blocks away from the mosque construction site.

How foolish can you be? And how blind?

Forget the Fort Dix guys, forget Zazi, Faisal Shahzad, John Muhammad, Khalid Sheikh Mohammed and frikking Mohammed Atta citing the koran as their inspiration. No, they were/are all "VICTIMS OF POLITICAL, ECONOMIC AND SOCIAL FORCES"!!!

"Blonde Swedish girls in suburbs of cities like Stockholm paint their hair darker more often, out of fear of getting raped. That is the conclusion of the study "Whiteness and gender" by Swedish investigator Maria Bäckman.

The reason why Scandinavian blondes in large cities opt for a darker colour has nothing to do with fashion trends, but everything with self-defense. Backman, teaching at the Ethnological Department of the University of Stockholm, concludes that on the basis of an inquiry during the course of which she followed and spoke with young girls in Rinkeby, a suburb of the Swedish capital.

Risk.

The reason is that the blondes think they stand out too much in a number of neighborhoods where people of Swedish origin account for only 20% of the total population. A "too Scandinavian" outlook would enlarge the rape risk. The girls hope that by neutral clothing and darker hair they will be able to elude the attention of potential rapists. Often these are muslim youths who see blond hair and loose clothing as a provocation.

Prejudices.

"My informants are teenage girls living in the suburbs", says the investigator. "They see themselves as Swedish, others see them as such too. But they are Swedes in what we can describe as an immigrant neighborhood. Thus they are seen as "different", with other opinions regarding sexuality and intimacy. These girls are casting doubt on themselves or fall outside the norm if, for example, they live with a man without being married to him. This can lead to the prejudice that Swedish girls behave in a provocative manner. Their way of clothing too can lead to the misconception that they would be "easy to get."

An article from the Internet journal "Houthalen-Helchteren": Youths beat chiro leader with brick into hospital, Tuesday May 11. First you got to know that a chiroleider is, litterally, a "chiro leader". Chiro is a christian-inspired youth movement, AFAIK still, even today, the largest youth movement in Belgium. I myself was a member of it as an 8 year old, and later, when I was 18, I became a chiroleider myself for two years. It's very much comparable to the Scouts. You do a lot of mostly open air activities with young boys. We organized camps, treks, we learned the kids to cook on open fires, we did bicycle tours, paintshops, hide and seek, simple carpentry, you name it. My group consisted of 8- to 12 year olds. Chiro has a name for that: the "Rakkers". To this very day, I have fond memories of that too short period in my life. And once in awhile I encounter one of those boys, now a young adult, and we have a nice chat about the good times past.

Now, this is gonna be a helluva lot less of a fond memory for the chiroleider in question:

How do I know it's muslim youths involved? Very simple. Had they been indigenous youths, the journal would have used a full first name followed by the initial of the surname. Like, Kris V. or Thomas P. or something. In the extremely rare cases the violence comes from whiteys, the newspapers and journals always do so. They don't do it here, so that's the first, very serious indication. Then there's the fact that a girl was harassed, a common thing to do for youthful paedophile worshippers. Third, the location: Houthalen-Helchteren in the province of Limburg. It houses a large community of muslim immigrants. Trouble's very often coming from that direction, be it jewish bikers thrown at with stones, burka-clad cunts in Maasmechelen, muslim community centers and imams installing loudspeakers on a minaret in Beringen and what not. Fourth, the extreme violence involved. Indiginous Belgian youths would not be possible to commit such an act - which is of course a good thing. There is violence and violence. When you neutralize a burglar the act can be pretty violent but does not have to involve deliberate physical damage. For instance, you can keep a perpetrator in a pretty tight and painful stranglehold. Smashing a brick in someone's face with the express aim to destroy a person's outward appearance is something altogether different. Muslim youths have no problem with that, as they are raised in a "culture" where empathy with someone suffering pain is seen as weakness. From a very young age, muslim children learn to watch the mutilation of sheep during offering rituals e.g. This involves slitting the throat of the animal with the express aim of making it spend its last moments in as great an agony as possible. Once fourteen, or fifteen, a muslim youth like that has no qualms about ruining an infidel's face.

There are many, many more stories, but time is short, company chores are simply killing me (done a fairly huge investment, and the market is very, very tough) and as a result I spend so few time with my wife that currently our relation is going thru a dip.

I'll have to work on that.

Expect more of this. Our children are made paranoia about alleged racism committed by their forebears. In the coming years, more and more of them will fall prey to exactly the reverse kind of racism. But A VERY REAL KIND OF RACISM.

Learn your kids self-defense, but not by painting their hair darker or covering completely up. I would of course not tolerate myself that my daughter dresses up like a little prostitute as I have seen so many young British teenage girls do - but that's another matter. That's a matter of Decent and Confident Conservative Upbringing.

No, encourage them to take courses in jiu jitsu or taek wondo or whatever. When your kids are old and mature enough, encourage them to take shooting lessons. I do not know what the age requirements are in your country, but you should at least hammer on the necessity to learn to handle a gun as soon as they are allowed to. Of course, if you yourself have a gun, nothing stands in the way to take your kids, again provided they are old and mature enough, to some remote area and give them some advance gun training.

The problems with muslims are only now beginning to manifest themselves in full. They will only get worse.

All of us indigenous Europeans and immigrants who live and work here, and share with us a desire for a free, peaceful and prosperous society with rule of law and public order, regardless of race and religion with the exception of islam, must prepare ourselves to meet the muslim threat with DEADLY FORCE if necessary.

MARK STEYN ON HUSSEIN SIGNING THE "DANIEL PEARL PRESS FREEDOM ACT".

Despite the tragic context, a magnificent column again by Mark Steyn in the Orange County Register Online, May 21, 2010:

"OBAMA'S LAZY TRIBUTE TO DANIEL PEARL.


... Like a lot of guys who've been told they're brilliant one time too often, President Obama gets a little lazy, and doesn't always choose his words with care. And so it was that he came to say a few words about Daniel Pearl, upon signing the "Daniel Pearl Press Freedom Act." Pearl was decapitated on video by jihadist Muslims in Karachi on Feb. 1, 2002. That's how I'd put it. This is what the president of the United States said:


Obviously, the loss of Daniel Pearl was one of those moments that captured the world's imagination because it reminded us of how valuable a free press is."


Now Obama's off the prompter, when his silver-tongued rhetoric invariably turns to sludge. But he's talking about a dead man here, a guy murdered in public for all the world to see. Furthermore, the deceased's family is standing all around him. And, even for a busy president, it's the work of moments to come up with a sentence that would be respectful, moving and true. Indeed, for Obama, it's the work of seconds, because he has a taxpayer-funded staff sitting around all day with nothing to do but provide him with that sentence.

Instead, he delivered the one above, which in its clumsiness and insipidness is most revealing. First of all, note the passivity: "The loss of Daniel Pearl." He wasn't "lost." He was kidnapped and beheaded. He was murdered on a snuff video. He was specifically targeted, seized as a trophy, a high-value scalp. And the circumstances of his "loss" merit some vigor in the prose. Yet Obama can muster none.

Even if Americans don't get the message, the rest of the world does. This week's pictures of the leaders of Brazil and Turkey clasping hands with Mahmoud Ahmadinejad are also monuments to American passivity.

But what did the "loss" of Daniel Pearl mean? Well, says the president, it was "one of those moments that captured the world's imagination." Really? Evidently it never captured Obama's imagination because, if it had, he could never have uttered anything so fatuous. He seems literally unable to imagine Pearl's fate, and so, cruising on autopilot, he reaches for the all-purpose bromides of therapeutic sedation: "one of those moments" – you know, like Princess Di's wedding, Janet Jackson's wardrobe malfunction, whatever – "that captured the world's imagination."

Notice how reflexively Obama lapses into sentimental one-worldism: Despite our many zip codes, we are one people, with a single imagination. In fact, the murder of Daniel Pearl teaches just the opposite – that we are many worlds, and worlds within worlds. Some of them don't even need an "imagination." Across the planet, the video of an American getting his head sawed off did brisk business in the bazaars and madrassahs and Internet downloads. Excited young men e-mailed it to friends, from cell phone to cell phone, from Karachi to Jakarta to Khartoum to London to Toronto to Falls Church, Virginia. In the old days, you needed an "imagination" to conjure the juicy bits of a distant victory over the Great Satan. But in an age of high-tech barbarism the sight of Pearl's severed head is a mere click away.

And the rest of "the world"? Most gave a shrug of indifference. And far too many found the reality of Pearl's death too uncomfortable, and chose to take refuge in the same kind of delusional pap as Obama. The president is only the latest Western liberal to try to hammer Daniel Pearl's box into a round hole. Before him, it was Michael Winterbottom in his film "A Mighty Heart": As Pearl's longtime colleague Asra Nomani wrote, "Danny himself had been cut from his own story." Or as Paramount's promotional department put it, "Nominate the most inspiring ordinary hero. Win a trip to the Bahamas!" Where you're highly unlikely to be kidnapped and beheaded! (Although, in the event that you are, please check the liability-waiver box at the foot of the entry form.)

The latest appropriation that his "loss" "reminded us of how valuable a free press is." It was nothing to do with "freedom of the press." By the standards of the Muslim world, Pakistan has a free-ish and very lively press. The problem is that some 80 percent of its people wish to live under the most extreme form of Sharia, and many of its youth are exported around the world in advance of that aim. The man convicted of Pearl's murder was Omar Sheikh, a British subject, a London School of Economics student, and, like many jihadists from Osama to the Pantybomber, a monument to the peculiar burdens of a non-deprived childhood in the Muslim world. The man who actually did the deed was Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, who confessed in March 2007: "I decapitated with my blessed right hand the head of the American Jew Daniel Pearl, in the city of Karachi." But Obama's not the kind to take "guilty" for an answer, so he's arranging a hugely expensive trial for KSM amid the bright lights of Broadway.

Listen to his killer's words: "The American Jew Daniel Pearl." We hit the jackpot! And then we cut his head off. Before the body was found, The Independent's Robert Fisk offered a familiar argument to Pearl's kidnappers: Killing him would be "a major blunder... the best way of ensuring that the suffering" – of Kashmiris, Afghans, Palestinians – "goes unrecorded." Other journalists peddled a similar line: if you release Danny, he'll be able to tell your story, get your message out, "bridge the misconceptions." But the story did get out; the severed head is the message; the only misconception is that that's a misconception.

Daniel Pearl was the prototype for a new kind of terror. In his wake came other victims from Kenneth Bigley, whose last words were that "Tony Blair has not done enough for me," to Fabrizzio Quattrocchi, who yanked off his hood, yelled "I will show you how an Italian dies!" and ruined the movie for his jihadist videographers. By that time, both men understood what it meant to be in a windowless room with a camera and a man holding a scimitar. But Daniel Pearl was the first, and in his calm, coherent final words understood why he was there:

"My name is Daniel Pearl. I am a Jewish American from Encino, California, USA ..."

He didn't have a prompter. But he spoke the truth. That's all President Obama owed him – to do the same.

I mentioned last week the attorney general's peculiar insistence that "radical Islam" was nothing to do with the Times Square bomber, the Pantybomber, the Fort Hood killer. Just a lot of moments "capturing the world's imagination." For now, the jihadists seem to have ceased cutting our heads off. Listening to Obama and Eric Holder, perhaps they've figured out there's nothing much up there anyway."

In a weird sense, he got this one right. As I'm typing this, it occurs to me how absolutely necessary it is to have a press free enough to make sure that this... Alien in the White House, this creature of smoke and mirrors, does not get away with sheer malicious BUNK like the above.

I am warning Americans. You have a president who is destroying your economy, neutering your military, and tearing apart the social fabric. Obama is one years and a half in office. At this rate, your country will be UNRECOGNIZABLE at the end of his term.

It was a magnificent day today, the first day of summer as it were, and I couldn't resist the call of the Ardennes.




This is Belgium's main highway south, or rather southeast. The E411. Pic taken not far from the Wanlin service station. The E411 goes straight to Luxembourg. Both the Belgian province of Luxembourg and the Grand Duchy of the same name, which is an independent state. Very small - only 2,500 plus sq. kloms or something, give and take 1,000 sq. miles. Pop. 500,000 plus. Small as it is, there's no denying it has an own peculiar identity.

STEYN AGAIN: "ISLAM? WHAT ISLAM?"

For the umpteenth time, a brilliant jewel of a column by The Master. Mark Steyn in the Orange County Register, May 14, 2010. This guy is so unbelievably good it's no wonder he doesn't get the coverage he deserves.

"What with the Fort Hood mass murderer, the Christmas Pantybomber and now the Times Square Bomber, you may have noticed a little uptick in attempted terrorist attacks on the U.S. mainland in the last few months.

Rep. Lamar Smith did, and, at the House Judiciary Committee, he was interested to see if the attorney general of the United States thought there might be any factor in common between these perplexingly diverse incidents.

"In the case of all three attempts in the last year, the terrorist attempts, one of which was successful, those individuals have had ties to radical Islam," said Congressman Smith. "Do you feel that these individuals might have been incited to take the actions that they did because of radical Islam?"

"Because of ... ?"

"Radical Islam," repeated Smith.

"There are a variety of reasons why I think people have taken these actions," replied Eric Holder noncommittally. "I think you have to look at each individual case."

The congressman tried again. "Yes, but radical Islam could have been one of the reasons?"

"There are a variety of reasons why people ... ."

"But was radical Islam one of them?"

"There are a variety of reasons why people do things," the attorney general said again. "Some of them are potentially religious ... ."





Stuff happens. Hard to say why.

"Okay," said Smith. "But all I'm asking is if you think among those variety of reasons radical Islam might have been one of the reasons that the individuals took the steps that they did."

"You see, you say 'radical Islam,'" objected Holder. "I mean, I think those people who espouse a – a version of Islam that is not ... ."

"Are you uncomfortable attributing any actions to radical Islam?" asked Smith. "It sounds like it."

And so on, and so forth. At Fort Hood, Maj. Hasan jumped on a table and gunned down his comrades while screaming, "Allahu Akbar!", which is Arabic for "Nothing to see here" and an early indicator of pre-Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder. The Times Square Bomber, we are assured by The Washington Post, CNN and Newsweek, was upset by foreclosure proceedings on his house. Mortgage-related issues. Nothing to do with months of training at a Taliban camp in Waziristan.

Listening to Attorney General Holder, one is tempted to modify Trotsky:

You may not be interested in Islam but Islam is interested in you. Islam smells weakness at the heart of the West. The post-World War II order is dying: The European Union's decision to toss a trillion dollars to prop up a Greek economic model that guarantees terminal insolvency is merely the latest manifestation of the chronic combination of fiscal profligacy and demographic decline in the West at twilight. Islam is already the biggest supplier of new Europeans and new Canadians, and the fastest-growing demographic in the Western world.

Therefore, it thinks it not unreasonable to shape the character of those societies – not by blowing up buildings and airplanes, but by determining the nature of their relationship to Islam.

For example, the very same day that Eric Holder was doing his "Islam? What Islam?" routine at the Capitol, the Organization of the Islamic Conference was tightening its hold on the U.N. Human Rights Council – actually, make that the U.N. "Human Rights" Council. The OIC is the biggest voting bloc at the U.N., and it succeeded in getting its slate of candidates elected to the so-called "human rights" body – among them the Maldives, Qatar, Malaysia, Mauritania and Libya. The last, elected to the HRC by 80 percent of the U.N. membership, is, of course, a famous paragon of human rights, but the other, "moderate" Muslim nations share the view that Islam, in both its theological and political components, should be beyond discussion. And they will support the U.N.'s rapid progress toward, in effect, the imposition of a global apostasy law that removes Islam from public discourse.

Attorney General Holder seems to be operating an advance pilot program of his own, but he's not alone. Also last week, the head of Canada's intelligence service testified to the House of Commons about hundreds of "second- or third-generation Canadians" who are "relatively well integrated" "economically and socially" but who have become so "very very disenchanted" with "the way we want to structure our society" that they have developed "strong links to homelands" that are "in distress."

Homelands such as Afghanistan, Pakistan, Yemen and Somalia.

Hmm. If you're wondering what those countries might have in common, keep wondering. No words beginning with "I-" and ending with "-slam" passed the director's lips. If the head of the Crown's intelligence service has narrowed his concerns about "disenchanted" "second- and third-generations Canadians" to any demographic group in particular, evidently it's classified information and can't be disclosed in public.

The U.N. elections are a big victory for the Organization of the Islamic Conference. By the way, to my liberal friends who say, "Hey, what's the big deal about the Organization of the Islamic Conference? Lighten up, man," try rolling around your tongue the words "Organization of the Christian Conference." Would you be quite so cool with that? Fifty-seven Prime Ministers and Presidents who get together and vote as a bloc in international affairs? Or would that be a theocratic affront to secular sensibilities? The casual acceptance of the phrase "the Muslim world" – ("Mr. Obama's now-famous speech to the Muslim world" – The New York Times) – implicitly defers to the political ambitions of Islam. And, if there is a "Muslim world," what are its boundaries? Forty years ago, the OIC began with mainly Middle Eastern members plus Indonesia and a couple more. By the Nineties, former Soviet Central Asia had signed on, plus Albania, Mozambique, Guyana and various others. In 2005, Russia was admitted to "observer" membership.

But along with the big headline victories go smaller ones. These days, Islam doesn't even have to show up. The Metropolitan Museum of Art has quietly pulled representations of Mohammed from its Islamic collection.

With the Danish cartoons, violent mobs actually had to kill large numbers of people before Kurt Westegaard was sent into involuntary "retirement." Even with "South Park," the thugs still had to threaten murder. But the Metropolitan Museum caved pre-emptively – no murders, no threats but best to crawl into a fetal position, anyway.

Last week, the American Association of Pediatricians noted that certain, ahem, "immigrant communities" were shipping their daughters overseas to undergo "female genital mutilation." So, in a spirit of multicultural compromise, they decided to amend their previous opposition to the practice: They're not (for the moment) advocating full-scale clitoridectomies, but they are suggesting federal and state laws be changed to permit them to give a "ritual nick" to young girls.





A few years back, I thought even fainthearted Western liberals might draw the line at "FGM." After all, it's a key pillar of institutional misogyny in Islam: Its entire purpose is to deny women sexual pleasure...."

Sheesh. What an insane world.

MARK STEYN ON THE DISINTEGRATION OF BRITISH DEMOCRACY.

The British elections are over now, and a pseudo rightwinger has become PM. In the runup to the elections, the incomparable Mark Steyn produced this prophetic column. From MacLeans, May 13. "A slow-burn bonfire of liberties":

"...The official “defining moment” of the campaign was Gordon Brown’s unguarded post-photo-op dismissal of Gillian Duffy as a “bigoted woman.” Mrs. Duffy, a plain-spoken working-class granny and lifelong Labour voter, had made the mistake of asking Mr. Brown, her party leader, a very mild question about immigrants from eastern Europe. He got back in his car and wrote her off, forgetting he was still miked. So she’s a “bigot.” He’s not. That’s why he makes all the decisions for her, and she just makes the best of them. What part of that don’t you understand?

The other “defining moment” got less coverage. Another “pensioner,” 74-year-old Roy Newman, got sick of the various party hacks knocking on his door and put a sign up in his front window: “GET THE LOT OUT.” Ninety minutes later, two police officers arrived at his home to arrest him for “racism.”

Racism? Why, yes. His sign was a piece of white card with red and blue lettering. Red-white-and-blue, geddit? The colours of the Union Jack. If using the same colour scheme as the national flag isn’t coded racism, I don’t know what is. Mr. Newman was prevailed upon to alter some of the letters to yellow, thereby diminishing the racist subtext.

With bigotry and racism running rampant, it was inevitable that homophobia would raise its ugly head. Dale McAlpine, a practising (wait for it) Christian, was handing out leaflets in the town of Workington and chit-chatting with shoppers when he was arrested on a “public order” charge by police officer Sam Adams (no relation), a gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender community outreach officer. Mr. McAlpine said homosexuality is a sin. “I’m gay,” said Officer Adams. Well, it’s still a sin, said Mr. McAlpine. So Officer Adams arrested him for causing distress to Officer Adams.

In fairness, I should add that Mr. McAlpine was also arrested for causing distress to members of the public more generally, rather than just the aggrieved gay constable. No member of the public actually complained, but, as Officer Adams pointed out, Mr. McAlpine was talking “in a loud voice” that might be “overheard by others.” And we can’t have that, can we? So he was fingerprinted, DNA-sampled and tossed in the cells for seven hours.

The other day, upholding the sacking of a black Christian for declining to provide “sex therapy lessons” to gay couples, Lord Justice Laws ruled that “law for the protection of a position held purely on religious grounds is irrational, divisive, capricious, arbitrary.” Actually it’s the law of Lord Justice Laws that is increasingly “irrational, divisive, capricious, arbitrary.” Or as George Orwell, in Animal Farm, formulated it: all animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than others. In the land of Laws, a gay is more equal than a Christian. A Muslim is more equal than anybody. A black man is more equal than a white man, unless the white man is gay and the black man a Christian. An eco-zealot is more equal than an Anglican. Not long before Lord Justice Laws’ decision on the “irrationality” of legal protection for Christianity, Tim Nicholson, a “Head of Sustainability” fired for questioning his property management group’s environmental policies, sued for wrongful dismissal under “Employment Equality (Religion And Beliefs) Regulations.” He wound up with the best part of one hundred thousand pounds after Mr. Justice Burton ruled that Mr. Nicholson’s faith in anthropogenic global warming was a “philosophical belief” on a par with religion. So the Employment Equality (Religion And Beliefs) Law protects belief in apocalyptic “climate change” but not in Jesus.

As for Muslims, in December Tohseef Shah sprayed the words “KILL GORDON BROWN,” “OSAMA IS ON HIS WAY” and “ISLAM WILL DOMINATE THE WORLD” on the war memorial at Burton-upon-Trent. But the Crown Prosecution Service decided his words were not “religiously motivated.” Phew! Thank goodness for that, eh? So a week or so back he walked out of court a free man, except for £500 in compensation to the municipal council for cleaning off his non-religiously motivated “ISLAM WILL DOMINATE THE WORLD” graffito.

I am currently slogging my way through a rather stodgy 650-page tome called Extreme Speech And Democracy. On the back is a question from Christopher McCrudden, professor of human rights law at Oxford: “What are the appropriate limits to freedom of expression in societies that wish to be democratic, multicultural, and committed to the human rights of all?”

Whether or not you regard that as a legitimate query, it’s certainly an irrelevant one. Because whatever you decide are the “appropriate” limits, by the time they percolate down to the transgendered liaison officer patrolling Workington shopping centre they’ll be reliably inappropriate. As I always point out in retailing the latest idiocy from Canada’s “human rights” fanatics, none of the above are “right-wing” in any sense that Steyn or Rumsfeld or Cheney would recognize the term. Mrs. Duffy is a lifelong Labour voter; Mr. Newman is one of those pox-on-all-their-houses types; the property company that fired Mr. Nicholson is so wretchedly politically correct it employed him as “Head of Sustainability,” a title of near parodic bogusness. Yet all fell afoul of Lord Justice Laws’ “irrational, divisive, capricious, arbitrary” laws. Because it’s hard not to. Because once you establish the principle that the state has the right to police ideas, sooner or later one of yours will catch their eye. I say “principle,” but that’s not really the word. The spirit is more aptly caught by a new joint initiative by the Canadian “Human Rights” Commission, the Manitoba “Human Rights” Commission and the Treaty Relations Commission of Manitoba to “promote and enhance the learning experience relative to human and treaty rights for all people living in Canada and around the world.” No idea what that means, but, as the CHRC press release says, this is the first time that these three useless taxpayer-funded sinecures have come together to “further their cause.” Since when do government agencies have ideological “causes”? And what happens if you disagree with their “cause”?

Professor McCrudden’s question on “appropriate” limits is very adroitly formulated: in today’s advanced Western society, there are no absolute rights—for all individual freedoms must be “balanced” against the state’s commitment to “multiculturalism” or “equality” or whatever other modish conceit tickles its fancy. Everybody talks like this now: for Canada’s Chief Censor, Jennifer Lynch, Q.C., freedom of expression is just one menu item in the great Canadian salad bar of rights, so don’t be surprised if we’re occasionally out of stock. Instead, why not try one of our tasty nutritious rights du jour? Like the human right to a transsexual labiaplasty, or (per a recent Quebec ruling) the human right to non-Eurocentric table manners. Real “rights” are restraints upon the state—“negative” rights, as constitutionalists have it; they delineate the limits of the sovereign’s power. But in the modern era “rights” are baubles in the state’s gift, and the sovereign confers them at the expense of individual liberty. Truly, this is an Orwellian assault on the very foundations of freedom.

...

As for the “balancing act” that Professor McCrudden urges between individual rights and broader responsibilities, only a truly free people have the incentive even to seek it. The more you haul nobodies off to the cells for putting up a poster or quoting the Bible, the more a timid conformist populace will keep its head down, mind its own business, and avoid broader social engagement—or at any rate non-alcohol-fuelled engagement. Big Government is dismantling civic identity, and the slow-burn bonfire of liberties in Europe and North America will eventually consume us all."

Yet another must-read that sums it up well. John Derbyshire's transcript of the May 7, Radio Derb broadcast:

"02 — U.K. election. We have a result in the British general election. David Cameron's Conservative Party has won a plurality of seats in Parliament, but not enough to govern firmly. It's hard to get very worked up about this, as the three parties in contention can fairly be described as Left of Center, Center-Left, and Tree-Hugger Left. Certainly there is nothing conservative about David Cameron's Conservatives. It would be very difficult indeed to name anything they wish to conserve: not Britain's ancient demographic core, not the nuclear family, not restraint in public financing, not liberties of speech or assembly, not public respect for the Christian religion, not Britain's traditional wariness of European entanglements, not Britain's traditional warmth towards and co-operation with the old British-settler nations, not civic order and the suppression of crime by fair policing, not respect for rank and authority, not control over the national debt … There is no subject you can name on which Cameron's "Conservatives" wish to conserve any more than Gordon Brown's Laborites, though I'll concede that neither party would call in the U.N. to force a macrobiotic diet on the population, as Nicholas Clegg's Liberal Democrats would. Cameron and Brown may want to make homosexuals a Designated Victim Class, with special rights and privileges, but Clegg's party would make homosexuality compulsory. In this respect, at least, the Brits have dodged a bullet. Frankly, I'm past caring. It's been replaced by a multicultural bazaar with a feral underclass and a vast, suffocating public sector, neither of which it can any longer afford. The educated classes are sunk deep in ethnomasochism — hatred of their own ancestors, of themselves really. Teenage girls get pregnant and are given public housing and a dole, while married couples struggle to pay their tax bills. The borders are open to foreign agitators who loudly declare their hatred for Britain, while old folk who survived the bombs and shortages of Hitler's war are sneered at as Nazis. When you come home to find burglars have looted your house, don't bother calling the police; they'll just give you an incident number for the insurance company; but try flying the national flag in your front yard — a squad car full of cops will kick your door down and tase you in the living-room for "racism." I couldn't care less about Britain any more. I'm nostalgic for what used to be, but I don't have any illusions any of it is coming back. These smooth-faced managerial types aim only to drag their country further along the road to perdition, with just minor differences in the speed of dragging. I said my goodbyes to England long ago. "MOTHER is keeping her daughter off school after refusing to give her permission to take part in a trip to a Liverpool mosque.

Michelle Davis, of Bodiam Court, Ellesmere Port, claims she was left with no choice but to keep 14-year-old daughter Amy Owen at home after Ellesmere Port Catholic High School’s headteacher Peter Lee tried to encourage the pupil into participating.
Miss Davies said: “I objected to Amy being made to dress like a Muslim girl, the original letter from the school gave a dress code for the visit, including long skirts, leggings or tights and covering up her head.

“She's been brought up in the Catholic faith and religion. Amy is not a Muslim and shouldn’t be told to dress like one.”

Miss Davies handed in a letter setting out reasons why she wouldn't be attending and the school asked if it was a problem with payment. She said: “I asked them not to patronise me, it's £3 to cover the cost of the bus.”

Despite requesting that any further communication about the proposed Year 9 trip, part of the students’ religious education class, be conducted strictly between her and Mr Lee, Miss Davies was upset to hear that Amy had been pulled out of her lessons and told the mosque excursion was ‘compulsory’.

Miss Davies, who knows a number of other parents who have refused permission, also received a letter from Mr Lee, further insisting that Amy attend. She said: “At the end of the letter, underlined, it says: ‘I must require your child to participate in this trip’. “This is an infringement of her human rights.”

In a written statement, Mr Lee refused to comment on the compulsory nature of the trip."

FJORDMAN: CAN WE COEXIST WITH THE LEFT?

Over at The Brussels Journal, Fjordman has an excellent post up wherein he poses the valid question whether we, conservatives, want to coexist with the left in the long run.

"The American writer Lawrence Auster had a debate with his readers regarding the possibility of splitting the USA along ideological lines. According to reader Tim W, modern Left liberalism is a universal totalitarian ideology, not a “live and let live” concept. The goal of its adherents is a world government from which no one can escape. Leftists “need conservatives but conservatives don’t need leftists. To be blunt, they can’t let us go. We’d be happy to be rid of them, because to us they’re nothing but parasites and/or oppressors. But they can’t get rid of us because we do most of the work, pay most of the taxes, provide the stability and morality that allow their depravity to thrive with less damaging results. Furthermore, the white conservative population is the buffer protecting white liberals from the minorities.”

A number of commentators questioned the viability of such a political division. Muslims believe not only that Islam is the best religion, but that it is the only true religion and that all people must be brought into its fold. Likewise, Leftists sincerely believe that Leftism is the only valid ideology, and that the whole world must be brought under its heel. Just like the very existence of self-governed communities outside of Islamic rule is considered an intolerable act of aggression by devout Muslims, so the existence of self-governed non-Leftist communities anywhere, at least if they happen to be white, is unacceptable to Leftist True Believers. They don’t just want to rule themselves; they want to rule everybody else as well.

Good arguments were presented in favor of secession, but opponents point out that attempted partition would likely trigger coercion and force when the ruling oligarchs fear losing control. If the Left sees everything it has promoted for generations about to be overturned it might resort to violence. Above all, opponents questioned whether the whole idea of “just wanting to be left alone” is defeatist and leaves the opponents with the initiative. Perhaps the battle cannot be won until we go on the offensive and take the ideological war to the enemy.

As reality is now, whites are considered potential extremists merely for existing, whereas the most revolting non-white organizations imaginable go free. For example, groups affiliated with the Muslim Brotherhood, which has the stated goal of destroying Western civilization, are labeled “moderates,” whereas whites who want an immigration policy that prevents such people from settling in their countries are demonized as “racist extremists” by the media.

As Lawrence Auster says, white Leftists show “absolute moral disgust and horror against white non-liberals for their (almost always falsely imagined) discriminatory attitudes toward nonwhites. The only two moral actors in this script are the white liberals, who are good, and the white non-liberals, who are evil. The nonwhites are not moral actors in the script. They are the passive, sacred objects around whom the moral drama between good whites and evil whites is played out.”

In April 2010, the former left-wing US President Bill Clinton warned commentators to tone down their anti-government rhetoric for fear of inflaming hate groups, as polls suggested that public trust in the US government was at its lowest point for half a century. Clinton tried to conflate the anti-tax Tea Party movement with the 1995 Oklahoma City terrorist bombing, and implicitly voiced support for limiting certain forms of speech that might challenge the left-wing ruling regime. In an interview with The New York Times newspaper, Mr. Clinton was worried about the fact that “Because of the Internet, there is this vast echo chamber and our advocacy reaches into corners that never would have been possible before.” He warned against those who were too negative regarding the policies of Leftist politicians.

In 2009, the same Bill Clinton said that Americans should be mindful of their nation’s changing demographics, which led to the 2008 election of Obama as president. He told an Arab-American audience that by 2050 the U.S. will no longer have a majority of people with a European heritage and stated that “this is a very positive thing.” This was merely eight years after Arab Muslim terrorists staged the deadliest attack against the US mainland in peacetime, killing thousands of US citizens. Yet a dramatic increase in the number of Arab Muslims in his country does not worry Mr. Clinton at all. The only “terrorism” he is concerned about might be protests from people of European origins who oppose their own dispossession.

Bertha Lewis, the chief executive officer of the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now or ACORN, spoke in March 2010 before the Young Democratic Socialists conference. There she predicted a USA headed toward violence that will “dwarf the internments during World War II.” Curiously, this statement was hardly reported in the mass media. She said that immigration is a big battle. “And the reason this is so important is, you know, here’s the secret: (whispering) We’re getting ready to be a majority, minority country. Shhhh. We’ll be like South Africa. More black people than white people. Don’t tell anybody.”





Lewis encouraged people, based solely on the color of their skin, to “get yourselves together, get strong, get big, and get into this battle,” the battle here just defined as the dispossession of whites. She’s the head of an organization that’s been a good friend of the current President Barack Hussein Obama. ACORN was a political issue in the 2008 United States Presidential Election over allegations of voter registration fraud. As President, Obama has repeatedly insulted staunch friends and allies of his country while openly siding with its Islamic enemies.

In April 2010 US President Obama, with unusual frankness regarding his anti-white coalition, appealed to “young people, African-Americans, Latinos, and women who powered our victory in 2008 [to] stand together once again” for continued “change,” essentially the manifestation of an intifada on European Americans. Notice that his message was essentially the same as that of the radical Bertha Lewis of ACORN, only slightly less openly militant. A few days later, the same Mr. Obama with astounding hypocrisy in an address urged both sides in the political debate to tone down their rhetoric. This because using phrases like “Socialists” in his view “closes the door to the possibility of compromise” and “can send signals to the most extreme elements of our society that perhaps violence is a justifiable response.”

The problem is that extremist left-wing elements have received tacit approval for carrying out violence and intimidation for years. This trend is escalating because of thugs such as the Antifa groups in Western Europe. These Leftist vandals get away with what they do because they know they have the quiet backing of the media and the political elites. Also in 2010, the University of Ottawa in Canada cancelled a speech by the U.S. conservative writer Ann Coulter because organizers feared left-wing protesters would turn violent. The American Renaissance conference that same year met with extreme harassment, including death threats. Yet as AR leader Jared Taylor lamented, the story received virtually no coverage from the mainstream Western media, nor from Democratic Presidents Obama or Clinton. The question here is not whether you agree with the people at American Renaissance, the question is why a legal, white political organization cannot meet peacefully when Communists or organizations affiliated with the Muslim Brotherhood can do so.

In her book A God Who Hates, the Syrian-born ex-Muslim Wafa Sultan comments on the Islamic “culture of shouting and raiding.” She states that “My experience has been that two Muslims cannot talk together without their conversation turning into shouts within minutes, especially when they disagree with each other, and no good can come of that. When you talk to a Muslim, rationally, in a low calm voice, he has trouble understanding your point of view. He thinks you have lost the argument. A Muslim conversing with anyone else – Muslim or non-Muslim – cannot remember a single word the other person has said, any more than my mother could remember a single word of what the preacher in our local mosque said.”

Former Muslim Ali Sina notes that “there is very little difference between the Left and Islam. What is lacking in both these creeds is the adherence to the Golden Rule. Just as for Muslims, everything Islamic is a priori right and good and everything un-Islamic is a priori wrong and evil, for the Left, everything leftist is a priori oppressed and good.” Facts don’t matter. Lying about opponents and their intentions is so widespread “that it is considered to be normal.”

After it was revealed that much of the data regarding alleged man-made global warming was deliberately fabricated, which constitutes one of the largest and most expensive anti-scientific frauds in history, most of its Leftist backers continued as if nothing had happened. The fact that they had promoted outright lies and slimed their opponents based on these lies mattered little. They believe they had the right to do so, as long as their intentions were right. Muslims, too, are allowed to lie to further the spread of their ideology. This strategy is called taqiyya.

Just like Muslims, both national Socialists and international Socialists totally lack respect for Socratic Dialogue, the reasoned search for truth which has been a hallmark of Western culture at its best. This is why such a large percentage of Western converts to Islam are either neo-Nazis or Marxists: These groups already think a great deal like Muslims. Their creed is the Absolute Truth, which should rule the world and must be imposed on others by brute force if necessary. They consequently have no need for reasoned debate. Others should submit to their rule or be violently squashed. End of story. People of European origins who stick to their cultural heritage constitute the embodiment of evil for Leftists, just like the infidels do for Muslims. Since white Westerners invented capitalism, some radical Socialists apparently believe that a “Final Solution” to the Capitalist Problem involves the annihilation of whites.

Terms such as “ethnic cleansing” should not be used lightly, but the writer Paul Weston is unfortunately correct here: What is happening with the native population throughout Western Europe is a state-sponsored campaign of ethnic cleansing. The only thing that’s unique about Britain is that Andrew Neather from the ruling Labour Party admitted this openly, in writing.

NATO, led by the USA, bombed the Serbs for “ethnic cleansing” back in 1999, thereby facilitating the Islamic ethnic cleansing of Christians in the Balkans. So, if the Western Multicultural oligarchs are against ethnic cleansing, I guess they must now bomb Britain, where the authorities have publicly admitted that they are deliberately displacing the native white population of their country. So why isn’t that happening? Could it be because very similar anti-white policies are currently followed in all Western nations without exception?

Let me add that I don’t think all Leftists have a well-thought-out plan to destroy the West. I have some in my immediate family, and they don’t think like this at all. They sincerely believe that what they are doing is the right thing. The hardcore ones who deliberately want to kill the West might be a minority, but at the end of the day this distinction matters little.

In many cases you can compromise, but in others you cannot. If somebody tries to poison you then you have to resist. It doesn’t matter in the long run whether those who do this do so because they deliberately want to kill you or because they are fools who accidentally kill you while intending to do something noble. The bottom line is: You die. You cannot be slightly dead, just like you cannot be slightly pregnant. If the Leftists and the Globalists have their way then our civilization will die, plain and simple. That’s why this ongoing struggle is likely to get ugly, because no compromise is possible. Since similar ideological struggles are taking place throughout the Western world, this situation could trigger a pan-Western Civil War."

To be frank, I don't care much for the Duchess and certainly not for her husband, the Prince of Wales.

What moves me in this photo is not the Royal.

It's the maimed soldiers.

Look at them.

See what they have sacrificed.

"More than 100 soldiers have had limbs amputated after being blown up by roadside bombs in Afghanistan, official figures showed yesterday.

And as many as 40 have lost more than one arm or leg after being caught in an improvised explosive device (IED) attack, figures released today show.

Many soldiers – some still in their teens – have been terribly maimed.

They include Sapper Matthew Weston, of 33 Engineer Regiment, who lost both legs and his right arm after he stepped on a mine during a foot patrol in Sangin, in Helmand Province, in June last year.

And Lance Bombardier Ben Parkinson who doctors described as the most severely wounded British soldier to ever to survive after a landmine explosion in Afghanistan left him with 37 injuries, including severe brain damage, memory and speech loss, multiple fractures and the amputation of both legs...."

I do not post these pictures to undermine the war effort; you know me better than that. I've been supporting the war from the get-go and have no intention whatsoever to change my stance.

We did not ask for this conflict. An insane and inhuman belief system called islam forced it upon us, notwithstanding the fact that western soldiers saved muslim asses on several occasions (Kuwait, the Balkans...).

As a reward we got 9/11, even though that was "only" the most visible operation, the one that shook us all wide awake - since they had been murdering westerners, military personnel and civilians alike, for decades prior to that fateful september day.

We cannot, and should not, walk away from this war. We must continue until the enemy is dead or gives up.

That said, we should honor those in the frontlines, who sacrifice life and limbs for our freedom. MARK STEYN ON UNCOMMON KNOWLEDGE.

I thought about posting some advice for americanos - erm, I meant AMERICANS - re the infamous Cinco de Mayo incident last week I'm sure you've heard or read about. I meant fleshing it out with some new material I borrowed from Sean Linnane over at Stormbringer...

... and then decided it was too late for something elaborate. I'm ruining my health. So only this quick post: it's a video of Peter Robinson's Uncommon Knowledge show featuring Mark Steyn, and well worth your time. For those of you who don't know Robinson, he's a research fellow at the Hoover Institution where he edits the quarterly journal Hoover Digest. From 1982 to 1988 he was also speechwriter to Ronald Reagan, and the famous catchphrase "Mr Gorbachev, tear down this wall" is from him.





Sadly enough, I can only agree with Steyn. Our women are barren. Our men seem content to be the terminus in their bloodline.

Upon meeting acquaintances my age or younger, of whom I know they have one or two kids, I often ask them with an innocent face whether they are planning a number three. Over the past two years, I met only one family where this was the case. As for the others: their reaction is ALWAYS one of mild shock. Yeah, think about it! The horror, THREE CHILDREN!!!

BERLIN, GENDARMENMARKT.

Two weeks ago my wife and I spent a weekend in Berlin, as we were invited to the 30-year anniversary of the German purchasing organization my company is a member of. On Sunday, a couple of hours before we boarded the flight back to Charleroi, Belgium, a quick sightseeing tour was organized. I took some pics.





What's Berlin's most beautiful square? Hint: it ain't the Pariserplatz with the Brandenburger Tor. In my opinion, it's the lovely Gendarmenmarkt, dominated by two cathedrals and a concert hall (Konzerthaus). This photo shows you the German Cathedral, built 1708, on the left and the concert hall (1821) on the right. The small statue in the centre is of the famous poet Friedrich Schiller.





This is the French Cathedral, built between 1701 and 1705 by Berlin's Huguenot community.





The German Cathedral again. It was designed by Martin Gruenberg and built by Giovanni Simonetti. Of special interest is the pentagonal structure.





And this is Angie's residence. Hussein eat your heart out. I'm not kidding, this is the official residence of the German Bundeskanzler. It's not far from the Reichstag, the German parliament.





Snapshot of the Fernsehturm (television tower), at 368m high Europes second tallest structure. I was inside it twenty years ago, on a schooltrip six months before the Wall came down. This is the Alexanderplatz, which Berliners affectionately call simply "Alex". The other building dominating it is the Park Inn Berlin to the right, a 125m high hotel built between 1967 and 1970.




This is a famous statue. It depicts Friedrich der Grosse (Frederick the Great) on horseback. Physically, he wasn't all that big. Politically he was truly a giant however. He lifted Prussia up from it status as central European backwater to a major player. Aggressive warfaring brought his country to the brink of disaster, but at the end of the Seven Year War the Russian tsarina died, and circumstances led to his being able to consolidate all his territorial gains. This episode is called the Miracle of the House of Brandenburg or something. Oh yeah... sorry for the blur in the right cornder below - pic taken inside a wobbling bus, no time to get out.



Have I something to add? I sure do. When we boarded our plane on Friday morning, on Charleroi Airport, I was witnessing how a seventyish paraplegic woman in a wheelchair had to remove her coat just like we had to, to check her for items that could be used for hijacking a plane. The scene was supervised by three young men of north African origin (moroccans of algerians, very likely the former), verrry politically correct positioned at the end of a conveyor belt where you got your handheld luggage back after it had been scanned. The three behaved rather arrogantly, with one even uttering tarzanlike sounds accompanied by fitting gestures - as if to mock us doofuses, who swallow the whole security shebang while it is their ilk causing the current situation.

And on Saturday, the second day of the conference which I had to attend, my wife took a bus to do some sightseeing of her own in central Berlin. I did not think much of it since I deemed the center muslim-free and therefore safe for lone women.

That evening I saw my wife back in a very upset state - not far from the Potsdamer Platz, while walking towards a bookshop, she had encountered a group of perhaps five or six young Turks who for no reason suddenly started yelling and throwing verbal abuse at her. She was so frightened that she stayed in the bookshop the entire afternoon, thereby forsaking her intended itinerary.

Or, how you cannot escape anymore the debilitating muslim presence in practically all of western Europe.

Sorry to end on a sour note but - that's how it is. And I'm not even mentioning nor providing photos of, our bus trip thru Little Turkey.
