SATURDAY NIGHT PETER GABRIEL, PETER BJORN AND JOHN.

Peter Gabriel first, with Games without frontiers.

From his third solo album, Peter Gabriel (1980). Gabriel was always some kind of a nutter. You should have seen the costumes he wore in his Genesis period. I also have the Genesis concept album The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway. Its music is 'interesting' - but the lyrics, which were AFAIK mostly written by Gabriel, make you think they originated from a mind high on LSD. At best.

On a lighter note, the poppy sound of Peter Bjorn and John with Young Folks.

Swedish blokes. This is from their third album, Writer's Block (2006). My 5-year old son, who's sitting on my lap as I write this, likes it. Just asked me to play it again. If it's good enough for OutlawSon, then it's good enough for you.

Good night.

UK MET OFFICE: GLOBAL WARMING STOPPED 16 YEARS AGO.

A while back we had us this sometimes annoying, sometimes funny lefty commenter here, who posted under the genial moniker anon.

anon dismissed the islamic threat to the civilized world, but pooped in his pants over the GW issue, excuse me, the MAN-MADE GW issue.

anon went south sometime in 2007 or so.

We're 2012 now, and us nasty rightwingers, forever warning of the muzzies and downplaying the birds falling fried from the air, well...

Well, in the meantime we've evolved to a point where Brussels is 25% muslim and Somalis are starting to make a nuisance of themselves in Maine, yes MAINE; half of the world is on fire wherever muslim countries border non-muslim ones, a US ambassador's corpse was dragged to the streets of a Libyan shithole, half a USMC squadron was destroyed in AF by Taliban, and yet another Mohammad wanted to blow up the NY Federal Reserve with a 453-kg bomb. That's one side of the picture.

And here's the other one. You wouldn't have noticed it if you get your news from MSNBC, Le Monde or De Volkskrant, but.... the UK's Met Office has concluded that the world stopped getting warmer in... 1996.

Photobucket

From Mail Online:

FLAWED SCIENCE COSTS US DEARLY "Here are three not-so trivial questions you probably won’t find in your next pub quiz. First, how much warmer has the world become since a) 1880 and b) the beginning of 1997? And what has this got to do with your ever-increasing energy bill? You may find the answers to the first two surprising. Since 1880, when reliable temperature records began to be kept across most of the globe, the world has warmed by about 0.75 degrees Celsius.
From the start of 1997 until August 2012, however, figures released last week show the answer is zero: the trend, derived from the aggregate data collected from more than 3,000 worldwide measuring points, has been flat.

Not that there has been any coverage in the media, which usually reports climate issues assiduously, since the figures were quietly release online with no accompanying press release – unlike six months ago when they showed a slight warming trend.

The answer to the third question is perhaps the most familiar. Your bills are going up, at least in part, because of the array of ‘green’ subsidies being provided to the renewable energy industry, chiefly wind.

They will cost the average household about £100 this year. This is set to rise steadily higher – yet it is being imposed for only one reason: the widespread conviction, which is shared by politicians of all stripes and drilled into children at primary schools, that, without drastic action to reduce carbon-dioxide emissions, global warming is certain soon to accelerate, with truly catastrophic consequences by the end of the century – when temperatures could be up to five degrees higher. Hence the significance of those first two answers. Global industrialisation over the past 130 years has made relatively little difference.

And with the country committed by Act of Parliament to reducing CO2 by 80 per cent by 2050, a project that will cost hundreds of billions, the news that the world has got no warmer for the past 16 years comes as something of a shock. It poses a fundamental challenge to the assumptions underlying every aspect of energy and climate change policy. This ‘plateau’ in rising temperatures does not mean that global warming won’t at some point resume.

But according to increasing numbers of serious climate scientists, it does suggest that the computer models that have for years been predicting imminent doom, such as those used by the Met Office and the UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, are flawed, and that the climate is far more complex than the models assert. ‘The new data confirms the existence of a pause in global warming,’ Professor Judith Curry, chair of the School of Earth and Atmospheric Science at America’s Georgia Tech university, told me yesterday.

‘Climate models are very complex, but they are imperfect and incomplete. Natural variability [the impact of factors such as long-term temperature cycles in the oceans and the output of the sun] has been shown over the past two decades to have a magnitude that dominates the greenhouse warming effect. ‘It is becoming increasingly apparent that our attribution of warming since 1980 and future projections of climate change needs to consider natural internal variability as a factor of fundamental importance.’

Uh, anon?

A STORY OF DANIEL AND JOSEPH.

In the previous post I mentioned that the new confederalist party, the N-VA (new Flemish Alliance), something like a Vlaams Belang Lite, and its leader, Bart Dewever, will discover soon enough what it means to out yourself as being to the right of Erich Honecker. Mind you, on a personal level I am not at all in favor of Dewever, given his irrational hostility to what should be a natural partner, the VB. But the following examples are striking.

So once again a Flemish rightist party (they are rather center-right, but whatever) captures around 40% of the vote, the single biggest piece of the electorate. HORROR!!! Can't be. Time for some machiavellist poker playing between leftist bigshots and the thoroughly red media. Daniel Termont, socialist mayor of Ghent, was offered a nice big window in HLN (Het Laatste Nieuws) to offer his erudite view on De Wever's astounding succes:

Photobucket

"LANGUAGE DE WEVER REMINDS ME OF THE THIRTIES".
In an interview with VPRO [Dutch leftist media channel - MFBB] Ghent mayor Daniel Termont (SP.a) says that De Wever's style and the content of his speech 'look very much extreme right'. Certain parts of Dewever's victory speech remind Termont of a language I heard in the thirties and which SCARES ME'.

Bad luck Dewever. You pay homage to Burke and want to stop feeding the socialist welfare machinery in Wallonia - there's no other explanation than that you are a (not so distant) cousin to Heinrich Himmler. Well, for our bien pensant Mr Daniel Termont anyway.

Actually, I think someone should tell Mr Termont that once upon a time right after the Great War a nitwit who flunked just about everything joined the DAP, an insignificant Munich party, led by a certain Anton Drexler. DAP stood for Deutsche Arbeiter Partei, or German Worker's Party. Soon thereafter Drexler added the prefix 'NS' to DAP, which then meant Nazionalsozialistische Deutsche Arbeiter Partei (NSDAP), or National Socialist German Workers Party. It was to be Drexler's last important act, since in 1921 already the nitwit became undisputed leader of the NSDAP. That fella's name was Hitler, Adolph, and if I would take the NSDAP's programme, and I'd keep it next to the SP.a's programme, I'm pretty certain I'd find similarities that would SCARE ME. Now i don't want to exaggerate - I don't think there's anything in the SP.a programme that hints at exterminating Jews (although the party's attitude towards the State of Israel sometimes also SCARES ME in that regard). On the other hand, with regards to silencing your political opponents through lies one can certainly discern parallels between the Drexler and Termont blueprints.

Over now to HLN's buddies at De Standaard, all the news that's shit to print. In another case of ubiquitous incestual crossreporting so typical of Europes strikingly un-diverse media landscape, De Standaard is anxious to let us know that the Dutch brethren of De Volkskrant, yet another leftist rag, sees 'Doom scenarios for Belgium with De Wever's sudden rise to prominence'. And De Standaard is so kind to provide the following photo to illustrate De Volkskrant's anxiety:

Photobucket

Tell me honestly, what would the Belgian peasant population be without such a paradigm of fair and balanced reporting like De Standaard??? Very helpfully, they found and added just the perfect snapshot of Dewever to fit right under the caption 'DE VOLKSKRANT SEES DOOM SCENARIOS FOR BELGIUM'. At the last moment a De Standaard editor must have clipped De Wever's right hand off - even De Standaard is aware of a concept like overkill.

Now that we are talking about the wonderfully politically diverse media landscape in the Union of Socialist Soviet Republics of Belgistan, how 'bout this one? Last week the last two 'somewhat center-right' contributors to the well-known weekly Knack, Director Strategy Rik Van Cauwelaert and satirical writer Koen Meulenaere, left the weekly because they disagreed with Knack naming Jorgen Oosterwaal as new Editor-in-Chief:

Photobucket

Many years ago I suspended my subscription to Knack since I could not stand anymore the nauseating leftist bias and the incessant anti-Americanism. Now, Van Cauwelaert and Meulenaere were about the only people left at Knack with their heads screwed on 'right'. They are goners now, because of the new Editor-in-Chief Oosterwaal.

Who the f*ck is Oosterwaal?

Oh, he just so happens to be a former Humo-journalist (Humo is yet another leftist, 'progressive' weekly). And, only just a couple of weeks back Mr Oosterwaal was the producer of a narcissist folder named 'Patrick', distributed during the municipal elections to support the campaign of the... socialist hopeful for the post of mayor of Antwerp, Patrick Janssens. The pic shows you Janssens with Oosterwaal's brainchild:

Photobucket

Isn't it sweet? Socialist candidate for the post of Antwerp's mayor Patrick Janssens with Joergen Oosterwaal's magazine in the runup to the municipal elections.

And that same Joergen Oosterwaal is now going to be... Editor in Chief of Flander's most important weekly Knack. Oh, and Van Cauwelaert and Meulenaere, the last two 'somewhat center rightwingers' have just left the building!

Isn't it amazing how the guys and gals hollering all the time 'bout diversity here diversity there are so absolutely averse of... political diversity???

Over and out or I'm gonna puke. Hey Termont, regarding your fear of the thirties when you hear Dewever... a fella of yours, political fella, (in)famous socialist fella, he made it propaganda minister or something. Yeah, in those thirties you so dread. He once said that a lie repeated a hundredfold becomes a truth.

Fella's name Mr Termont - can I say Daniel?? - fella's name, it escapes me Daniel...

Got it! Fella's name was Joseph Goebbels!!! Yea, that was it!

A MAIL EXCHANGE WITH THE COMMANDER.

Our good friend CDR Salamander mailed me the day before yesterday with the following question: 'Did you vote twice or something?'

First the background. On October 14, last Sunday, municipal elections were held in Belgium. While they did not promise surprises in Wallonia, Belgium's overwhelmingly socialist ergo dirt poor French-speaking part, they were expected to cause quite an earthquake in Flanders, Belgium's rich, Dutch-speaking northern half.

And they did.

A 'secessionist', 'conservative' party that has almost litterally sprung up from nowhere, N-VA, for Nieuw-Vlaamse Alliantie [New-Flemish Alliance] mad major inroads everywhere in Flanders, in the process cannibalizing its nearest neighbor, the truly conservative Vlaams Belang, and pushing the socialists from the throne in Flanders' biggest city, Antwerp.

Photobucket

Initially not intending to do a post about it since rather affected by the terrible losses my party, the Vlaams Belang, suffered, the CDR's mail spurred me into writing a response, and it sort of morphed into something sufficient for a decent post. You'll find it below, but first of all two remarks:

a.) In choosing to label his mail 'Did you vote twice or something' he seems to assume I contributed to the N-VA's success, ergo he thinks I'm an N-VA supporter. I am not, since I consider them CINO's (conservatives in name only). Still, the very perception that the N-VA is rightist can be a burden in Belgium, as the N-VA will very soon find out.

b.) The N-VA is not secessionist per se. It's confederalist.

OK. Now for my reply to the CDR:

"Op 15/10/2012 1:26, CDR Phibian Salamander schreef: > > http://www.ft.com/intl/cms/s/0/70477188-1636-11e2-b6f1-00144feabdc0.html#axzz29JpkGZAt > > Cheers, > Sal > > - http://cdrsalamander.blogspot.com > - http://www.blogtalkradio.com/midrats > Contributor to: > - http://blog.usni.org > - http://bigpeace.com

CDR, baloney. Mark my words and you'll remember them when you have the fortune to reach the ripe old age of 90, Belgium ain't no artificial nation. Among the average Fleming there is no desire to split up the country and indeed, the guy in the article, Bart De Wever, leader of the N-VA, something like a Vlaams Belang Lite, is no secessionist. He is a confederalist, wanting to transfer certain fiscal responsibilities to the regions while keeping key ministries like defense or foreign affairs at the federal level. He DOES want still greater autonomy for Flanders and Wallonia, true.

But I think he's smart enough to understand that there are strong supranational forces at play (the EU itself foremost) which will NEVER allow that one of the six founding members of the EU, indeed, a mini EU in itself and its very political laboratory, will call its splitsville thereby calling in question the viability of the greater EU itself.

In that respect NV-A is a bit more realist than the VB, which btw is rapidly hrinking as a result of N-VA cannibalizing it. They understand that here in ole Belgium we aren't doing anymore what we'd like to do without Big Brother EU looking over our shoulder ready to intervene at a moment's notice.

Also, there's the problem of Brussels. You simply cannot make a clean cut in Belgium, it's not Czechoslowakia where both parties had clearly defined and mature administrative centers: Prague for the Czechs and Bratislava for the Slovaks.

Belgium falling apart? Forget it.

I think the VB made a grievous political error in not acknowledging that the average Fleming DOES-NOT-WANT-A- BREAKUP. They (the VB) have been hammering on independence for aeons, it can't be done. And now they are stuck in a corner with their main programme point and can't call it quits without losing face even more. Of course, the VB programma is more than that. Other main points are:

* strong identity politics (Western in general, Flemish in particular)
* strongly opposed to islamization
* zero tolerance for criminality
* defense of traditional values (the traditional family with man, woman, preferably married, and a couple of kids
* against gay marriage, against gay adoption
* on the economical level, pro free market with social corrections, from a technical POV pro supply side economics

All good points, which is why I am still a VB member. But I couldn't even vote for the VB since privately I live in Wallonia. I HAD to vote, for that reason, for Walloon parties - and with pain in my heart give my vote for the least worst.

You won't find (m)any of those VB hallmarks in the N-VA programme. Like I said, their signature claim is for confederalism, as they see it as the only means to stem the flow of Flemish money to the dilapidated socialist structure in the south - Wallonia.

Bottom line: the VB has a string of good, honest conservative points but one demand that cannot realistically be met - Flemish independence tout court. The N-VA, soi-disant VB Lite, lacks the real conservative stuff, indeed, is ambiguous in quite a few matters, but has one realistic proposal for stopping Walloon profiteering on Flemish backs - confederalism.

Inexplicably, the leader of the NVA, Bart De Wever, does not let an occasion pass to spit in the VB's face. I can understand that for pragmatic reasons it would be preferable not to 'burn' itself in an alliance with the VB (that there would be 'burning' is in itself a disgrace since the VB has long since come clean with its past). There's however no excuse for displaying genuine physical contempt.

What will the future bring? The VB has so hammered on the unreachable goal of indepence that they've cornered themselves. Voter fatigue with a party that is at the same time constrained in the infamous 'cordon sanitaire' has depleted its ranks. Unless a miracle happens, I see no immediate solution for the stalemate the party finds itself in.

The N-VA will discover soon enough that even the whiff of faux conservatism suffices to brand it as 'extreme right' in a country where leftist ideologies have so been spoonfed to the population that they have become mainstream. Sure enough, already Daniel Termont, the socialist mayor of Ghent, a major Flemish town and one where the reds and greens were able to stay in power, said to the Dutch press that Bart De Wever made him think of the thirties. That a proponent of mere confederalism can be branded as a closet nazi by a socialist asshole pur sang who GETS AWAY WITH SUCH A RIDICULOUS ACCUSATION speaks bookmarks of the level of political correctyism that has so much become the norm that anything that's not in line with it is suspect.

Add to that the imho volatile nature of the N-VA 'show of strength', based as it is one nothing more than a one man cult - for some reason Bart De Wever 'ticks', at least for now, and you have the promise of an N-VA implosion a couple of years hence.

In short - I'm desperate for conservatism in Belgium (AND in Europe), which would be the ONLY thing that can put us back on the tracks.

Personally, I will stay a VB member. Apart from its striving for independence, it's sufficiently conservative for me. If the conservative ship must go down in a world full of political lies, media distortions and educational brainwashing, then I prefer to go down with it instead of going with the flow.

Nite - Michael

PS gonna read some more pages of The Killer Angels, almost at the end now. Mighty good book!"

"SMALLER LOVE HATH NO MAN THAN OBAMA'S, THAN TO LAY DOWN HIS "FRIEND" FOR A COUPLE OF POINTS IN OHIO."

Mark Steyn in the Orange County Register on the appalling whitewashing by the Obama campaign of the US government's handling of the Libya consulate massacre. As per usual, spot on:

"To "politicize" means "to give a political character to." It is a reductive term, capturing the peculiarly shrunken horizons of politics: "Gee, they nuked Israel. D'you think that will hurt us in Florida?" So media outlets fret that Benghazi could be "bad" for Obama – by which they mean he might be hitting the six-figure lecture circuit four years ahead of schedule. But for Chris Stevens, Sean Smith, Glen Doherty and Tyrone Woods, it's real bad. They're dead, over, gonesville. Given that Obama and Secretary Clinton refer to Stevens pneumatically as "Chris," as if they've known him since third grade, why would they dishonor the sacrifice of their close personal friend by peddling an utterly false narrative as to why he died? You want "politicization"? Secretary Clinton linked the YouTube video to the murder of her colleagues even as the four caskets lay alongside her at Andrews Air Force Base – even though she had known for days that it had nothing to do with it. It's weird enough that politicians now give campaign speeches to returning coffins. But to conscript your "friend's" corpse as a straight man for some third-rate electoral opportunism is surely as shriveled and worthless as "politicization" gets.

In the vice-presidential debate, asked why the White House spent weeks falsely blaming it on the video, Joe Biden took time off between big toothy smirks to reply: "Because that was exactly what we were told by the intelligence community." That, too, is false. He also denied that the government of which he is nominally second-in-command had ever received a request for additional security. At the risk of "politicizing" things, this statement would appear also to be untrue.

Instead, the State Department outsourced security for the Benghazi consulate to Blue Mountain, a Welsh firm that hires ex-British and Commonwealth Special Forces, among the toughest hombres on the planet. The company's very name comes from the poem "The Golden Journey To Samarkand," whose words famously adorn the regimental headquarters of Britain's Special Air Service in Hereford. Unfortunately, the one-year contract for consulate security was only $387,413 – or less than the cost of deploying a single U.S. soldier overseas. On that budget, you can't really afford to fly in a lot of crack SAS killing machines, and have to make do with the neighborhood talent pool. So who's available? Blue Mountain hired five members of the Benghazi branch of the February 17th Martyrs' Brigade and equipped them with handcuffs and batons. A baton is very useful when someone is firing an RPG at you, at least if you play a little baseball. There were supposed to be four men heavily armed with handcuffs on duty that night, but, the date of Sept. 11 having no particular significance in the Muslim world, only two guards were actually on shift.

Let's pause right there, and "politicize" a little more. Liberals are always going on about the evils of "outsourcing" and "offshoring" – selfish vulture capitalists like Mitt Romney shipping jobs to cheap labor overseas just to save a few bucks. How unpatriotic can you get! So now the United States government is outsourcing embassy security to cheap Welshmen who, in turn, outsource it to cheaper Libyans. Diplomatic facilities are U.S. sovereign territory – no different de jure from Fifth Avenue or Mount Rushmore. So defending them is one of the core responsibilities of the state. But that's the funny thing about Big Government: the bigger it gets, the more of life it swallows up, the worse it gets at those very few things it's supposed to be doing. So, on the first anniversary of 9/11 in a post-revolutionary city in which Western diplomats had been steadily targeted over the previous six months, the government of the supposedly most powerful nation on Earth entrusted its security to Abdulaziz Majbari, 29, and his pal, who report to some bloke back in Carmarthen, Wales.

Photobucket

In the days before the attack, Joe Biden had been peddling his Obama campaign slogan that: "Bin Laden is dead, and General Motors is alive." The first successful terrorist attack on U.S. sovereign territory since 9/11, and on the very anniversary and by al-Qaida-linked killers, was not helpful to the Obama team. And so the nature of the event had to be "politicized": Look, over there – an Islamophobic movie! "Greater love hath no man than this," quoth the President at Chris Stevens' coffin, "that a man lay down his life for his friends." Smaller love hath no man than Obama's, than to lay down his "friend" for a couple of points in Ohio."

NEWS THAT WE GET, AND NEWS THAT WE DON'T GET.

In Belgium, that is.

OK, first the news THAT WE GET.

De Stavda, erm, De Standaard, premium - cough - Belgian newspaper, thinks we ought to know that the mother of Glen Doherty, ex- SEAL and one of the three staffers to the late US ambassador to Libya who were also murdered, vehemently opposed to Romney's use of her son's name in his campaign against Obama: 'He should not use my son's death in his political agenda. It's wrong to use these young brave men to discredit Obama'.

Personally, if I were in the woman's case, I'd be more offended by someone calling my son's death a bump in the road than by someone using his name, but OK, fair enough. The title of De Standaard's column reads: 'Mother of killed soldier criticizes Romney':

Photobucket

And now the news that we DO NOT GET.

Photobucket

From CNN's Anderson Cooper, no less (although of all the mainstream US Media, I have to admit that CNN's the least worst, at least that's my impression.)

Uh, hello, De Standaard??

So let me get this straight. Of the four Americans who were murdered in that fateful attack on the US consulate in Benghazi, Libya: Christopher Stevens, Sean Smith, Glen Doherty and Tyrone Woods, we've got almost simultaneously testimonies from the mothers of two of them, namely FS Information Management Officer Sean Smith, and private security employee and former US Navy SEAL Glen Doherty. Smith's mother criticizes Obama, Doherty's mother criticizes Romney.

What coverage do Belgians get?

To ask the question is to answer it.

To finish, let's listen to Bill Whittle, where we can learn a thing or two on liberal bias:

De Standaard is bewitched, too.

BELGIUM: TURKISH WOULD BE TOWN SELECTMAN HAS SOLUTION FOR RAMPANT POVERTY AMONG TURKS AND MOROCCANS: MORE TAXPAYER MONEY.

From the 'I have seen that movie about a million times' Department. Wannabe Town Select(wo)man Meyrem Almaci, of Turkish origin, HAS FOUND THE SOLUTION for the endemic poverty among Antwerp's muslims, mainly Moroccans and Turks. Why, more taxpayer money of course!!!

As her ilk befits, Madam Almaci is a member of the Greens. They are either that or Red, with a few exceptions among (soi disant) liberals and (so-called) christian democrats.

There's municipal elections in Belgium on October 14, and they are seen as a test whether the traditional parties will be able to wither the expected major success of the new Flemish nationalist party, the N-VA. N-VA, which stands for Nieuw-Vlaamse Alliantie, or New Flemish Alliance, has over the past few years seen a remarkable rise in popularity. Its numbers have swollen, on the one hand, as a result of Flemish nationalist voters leaving the Vlaams Belang (VB), which may be explained by fatigue of voting for a party that is simply denied any possibility of ever taking up a ruling mandate (because of the 'cordon sanitaire'). On the other hand, it is clear that N-VA has attracted many people from other parties, for which the charisma of its leader, Bart Dewever, may be responsible (Needless to say, Outlaw Mike remains a staunch Vlaams Belang member).

Anyway, the upcoming elections may become interesting, for essentially they will feature a clash between welfare producers and welfare consumers. I don't like N-VA because in my opinion it let go by a terrific chance of forming a very powerful cartel with the VB. Also, N-VA does not oppose islamization, it even does not seem to register on their radar. Be that as it may... we can say that N-VA is the principal electoral spearpoint of those in Flanders which produce all the wealth - active whites not in a government job... and that the Greens and the socialists are the voice of the principal recipients of this wealth. Immigration has become such a powerful torrent that the electoral losses among whites for SP.a (socialists) and Groen( (the Greens) have been more than made up by the newcomers, who vote overwhelmingly for the do-gooders. Let us now listen to Madam Almaci, of Turkish stock, in a speech given during a meeting of the Greens in Antwerp last weekend. Almaci addresses Poverty In Antwerp:

'They are overtaken by the facts. Youth unemployment is 30 per cent higher than in 2007. For those over 55 the numbers are even worse. There unemployment rose with 44 per cent. And it does not stop there. Forced removal from their homes: up thirty per cent. Another good indicator: the number of people enjoying a preferential treatment in health insurance has risen with 47 per cent since 2007. These are people flirting with poverty. A quarter of children in Antwerp lives in poverty. A quarter! That must become priority number one in the next legislature.'

'The word poverty does not appear in the current legislature's governing accord. This is simply not done. The rows at the Food Distribution Agencies in Antwerp are getting longer and longer. Among Maghrebians [Moroccans, Algerians and Tunisiand - MFBB] half is living in poverty, among Turks it's a third.'

'So we urgently need a City Plan for Fighting Poverty, that is also part of the governing accord. If we are in the majority, it's gonna be a breaking point. The Green Party therefore aims explicitly for the post of Town Selectman for Social Affairs.'

'This portfolio must include convincing financial prowess. Year after year the OCMW (Public Centres for Societal Wellbeing) is plugging the holes of the year before. In 2013 a part of the budget will therefore go to the year 2012. We need at least 20 million EUR to really make a difference here.'

'Every euro you now spend in fighting children's poverty will yield a return in the long term. With it, you help to prevent generational poverty, and in this manner those youths will have less health problems and better schooling trajectories. And then we keep silent about the terrible stigma that poverty brings with it: this weighs enormously on people.'

Yes, we the whites, the Welfare Producers, are overtaken by the facts. Poverty in Antwerp is STEEPLY ON THE RISE, ESPECIALLY among 'maghrebians and Turks'.

A few facts may escape Ms. Almaci's attention.

1.) Last time I checked, around 2008 or so, Antwerp was losing 4,000 (white) authochtons a year, while 'gaining' 5,000 Third Worlders. Like it or not, they arrive poor, and they've been rushing in Antwerp (and the rest of the country) BECAUSE OF LEGISLATION tailor-made by Reds and Greens, with enthusiastic help from the other 'democratic' parties.

So OF COURSE, if you pump in dirt poor asylum seekers, not speaking the language, lacking the most essential skills to be of any help in companies, schools, institutions, public services or whatever, and those cultural enrichers CHASE OUT hardworking authochtons, prosperity goes down, poverty goes UP!!!

2.) All of that could be overcome... if only the newcomers' culture made it possible. Immigration in Antwerp however, like in the rest of the country, is mainly from muslim countries. Now, in the overwhelming majority of these households THE WOMAN IS NOT ALLOWED TO BE A WAGE EARNER.... What they are allowed to do is produce babies though. It follows that massive swaths of the muslim population in Antwerp can be characterized by One Earner families, with the father more often than not having a low-skilled, low paying job, and the wife sitting at home, 'raising' four, five or six children. Of those children, the boys quickly venture out on the streets, massively flunking school, and even when in class, rejecting being taught by female teachers. Not only have muslim children lower IQ's to begin with, but taking aforementioned factors in account, it should come as no surprise that dropout rates among Moroccan and Turkish children are catastrophic.

Very simply put, rising poverty in Antwerp is mostly due to a totally unhinged immigration policy (planned at the federal level) which, to add insult to injury, has picked the most unwanted culture to import. An alarming demographic with small two-earner families with relatively well brought up, well-performing children being replaced by large families, with one earner supplying a family with four or five underperforming children, is the result. These families, more numerous every year, are the main recipients of welfare checks and they literally DEVOUR the OCMW's budget. Along comes Meyrem Almaci, and she notices (surprise!) that Antwerp families are becoming poorer and poorer!!!!!

Poverty is there because, well, it's there because it's there, and naturally discrimniation and RACISM have helped (a lot, presumably), and we can't solve it because we have to plug the budget holes of the year before (even if prominent Santa Clauses like Monica Deconick, Belgium's own Jamie Gorelick, raise the eyebrows on the colossal amounts spent every year on welfare). So ALL THAT NEEDS TO HAPPEN is in one smack throw another twenty million euros down the drain to plug said holes and after that we can do as if they never existed and resume the following year with nothing but just needy Maghrebians and Turks to spend an entire year's budget on. Young Ahmed, Mohammed, Mehmet and Abdelkader, now lying sick in bed if they are not torching cars in Borgerhout because of Sam Bacile, will get liberal doses of Aspegic and Augmentin, get suddenly well, and rush to school, where they eagerly learn from Juf Katrien that Voltage equals Current multiplied with Resistance, that Man comes from Ape, and that the nazis really murdered six million jews.

It's really that simple.

Madam Almaci.... you can.... go royally FUCK YOURSELF.

BOOK REVIEW: MICHAEL SHAARA'S THE KILLER ANGELS.

In a relatively extensive library - if I may say so (for my age) - until recently only one book on the American Civil War could be found, a rather prosaic work with lots of illustrations by Philip Katcher. That has changed now.

That has changed, since Katcher has now been joined by Shaara, more precisely by the latter's Pulitzer Prize-winning The Killer Angels.

Photobucket

The one book I already had was despite its many color plates and maps not very conductive to read - by contrast Shaara's The Killer Angels is a bombshell. It's an easy read in flowing prose, very difficult to lay down. I suspect much if not all of its readability has to do with its concept. Yes, it's a fictionalized historical novel - fictionalized in the way that the author has 'invented' its main characters' thoughts and verbal communication.

I am still reading the book - I have reached the point where Colonel Chamberlain of the 20th Maine Regiment, out of lack of ammo, decides on a bayonet charge down Little Round Top with the 'hinge' being his connection to 83rd Pennsylvania. Shaara cannot possibly have known what Chamberlain ordered his men verbatim - but it's clear he did massive research on what happened on that fateful day in July 1863 and what he puts in the Colonel's mouth (and mind) may be as close an approximation of the reality as you can get. I have encountered this style of history writing only once before, many years ago, in Rolf Palm's The Bridge at Remagen, and I recall I was smitten by it. And now it's happening again. Shaara brings the American Civil War back to life with an historical novel that's only fictionalized where it concerns the deeper psychology and the exact words and thoughts of its protagonists - but I bet there's few 'genuine', 'serious' history books that feed you so much hard data in such a limited volume: The Killer Angels is no large book. Irresistibly, the novel takes you by the hand and lets you accompany Union Brigadier General John Buford on a sweltering July evening in 1863 towards dusk and a sleepy town by the name of Gettysburg. You are present when Buford, upon noticing Confederate Infantry milling around on a road entering said town from the east, decides to deploy his two infantry brigades across that road, anticipating the small forces he saw are just the vanguard of General Lee's entire Army of Northern Virginia.

You are looking over Colonel Chamberlain's shoulder when his 20th Maine Regiment (rather, what's left of it) is suddenly burdened by the arrival of 120 mutineers from 2nd Maine - and how he deals with that situation. Effectively, by the way.

And on the eve of the battle you are watching from under a tree as Confederate General Longstreet observes his staff laughing, cajoling and playing poker, without Longstreet himself participating, because he has lost all joy in such merrymaking since the death of three of his children.

Jesus, why bother you any longer - JUST BUY IT!

It's DYNAMITE!!!

MFBB.

PS: question for any American Civil War buff: in the book, it is hinted that the South fought at least as much for greater autonomy for the States as for maintaining slavery. In other words, the South did not want a too powerful Central Government. It's what Shaara puts in the mouths and minds of several southern characters. What do you think of that? Is Shaar a closet, or not so closet, adept of the Lost Cause?

MUSLIM SAVAGES IN PARIS: 'OBAMA WE ARE ALL OSAMA'.

Paris. 2012.

Meanwhile the new French socialist government under François Hollande is busy with far more pressing matters than that French streets are taken over by AQ sympathizers. Via FOX News:

France is set to ban the words "mother" and "father" from all official documents under new plans to legalize gay marriage and give equal adoption rights to homosexual and heterosexual couples.

Under the proposed law, only the word "parents" would be used in marriage ceremonies for all heterosexual and same-sex couples, a move that has sparked widespread outrage, The Telegraph reports.

Changes to the civil code would mean swapping all references to "mothers and fathers," in legal documents, with the word "parents."

HILLARY CLINTON SHAMING THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA.

Its ambassador to Libya and three of his staff brutally murdered, its flags burned everywhere in the islamic world, the nation humiliated... ... and all that this administration manages to come up with is squirming in the mud and the dust for mindless paedophile worshippers. Mindless, and worthless. Dumb, and dumbest. When was the last time you bought a computer designed, or even just manufactured under license, in Yemen? Recently sat behind the wheel of a KSA produced SUV? How's that LCD display and state of the art audio system Made in Pakistan working out?

No, all that the ummah can produce is terrorists and oil, the latter only with western knowledge and skills. Yet Hillary Clinton sees fit to cringe and apologize to muslim scum on Paki TV. PAKISTAN for God's sake!!! PAKISTAN, which offered a safe heaven to the monster behind 9/11. Your tax dollars, 70,000 of them, at work:

Why, oh why, do the Hillary Clintons of this world get airplay? And why do the Pat Condells have to make do with blogs?

THE WORLD TURNED UPSIDE DOWN: FILMMAKER 'INNOCENCE OF MUSLIMS' ARRESTED. SHAME ON YOU, AMERICA!

Bill Whittle on the single most despising pictures of the week:

And on Sean Hannity, Mark Steyn nails it when he says that if the US ambassador to Libya had had a security detail like the guys in the following video, he'd be alive today:

I must admit that I myself was baffled by the lukewarm, no make that completely indifferent, reaction to the brutal murder of Christopher Stevens and three of his staff at the hands of a lunatic bunch of muslim zealots. I mean SERIOUSLY, the High Representative of the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA to a country that only one year ago got rid of a bloody dictator thanks to the US military gets KILLED, his body is dragged thru the streets, three of his staff undergo the same fate, US flags are burnt, a consulate is razed to the ground...

... and all America can come up with is a 'president' and his 'secretary of state' uttering weak and baseless 'protests' and blaming the filmmaker instead???? HELLO?????

A PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES WORTHY OF THAT NAME would have dropped a couple of tons of ordnance on the Benghazi scumbags. Don't tell me they couldn't be hit. They could have been.

No, the strongest and most muscled response to the murder of these four hapless souls can be observed in the above videos. For God's sake what has become of America???

AALST, BELGIUM: LOCAL SOCIALIST PARTY CHAPTER SHUNS MUSLIM CANDIDATE FROM LIST UPCOMING MUNICIPAL ELECTIONS.

No, this is not a flying pig moment. It's not a broken clock moment either.

Then what is it?

Maybe, just maybe, a minuscule amount of doubt has been sown into the minds of the town of Aalst's socialists.

But it's not gonna change anything, because they are too stooped in PC thinking to connect dots, discern evolutions, think outside the box.

What has happened is that a 26-year old muslim woman was shunned from the SP.a-list in Aalst because she was deemed 'too radical'... by her own party, the SP.a. If socialists say that, it's got to be bad indeed.

The woman, Fatmagül Bilge, daughter of the chairman of the Turkish mosque in Aalst, insisted on appearing in headscarf on election posters, made it clear she supported sharia, and let it know that if elected she'd appear in islamic dress in Town Council meetings.

A bridge too far for the local chairman of the Aalst socialist party chapter, Dirk De Pauw. Who reportedly, together with Town Selectman for Integration Dylan Casaer, insisted she withdraw her candidacy for the upcoming municipal elections on October 14.

Photobucket

(source het Nieuwsblad)

It don't mean nothing. In two election circles, the SP.a will be 50 or 60% muslim anyway, no stopping sharia-supporting candidates in 12 years. Also, even now national SP.a chairman Bruno Tobback, darling of the Belgian press corps, gave a confusing signal (to Aalst socialists), indicating he had no problem with candidates showing religious symbols. Translated: the SP.a top brass, Asshole Superdeluxe Bruno Tobback up front, are willing (and eager so) to put their pants down, bend forward and get themselves fucked royally in the arse by that gracious belief system known as islam.

What does the eye of yours truly see?

Simple. There's been Fatima Bali, Selahattin Koçak, Selahattin Ozer, now Fatmagül Bilge. All dream candidates and posterchildren for DIVERSITY. All of them revealing themselves for what they really are: Trojan horses for islam.

At first sight articulate, intelligent, trustworthy. Then it's breaking promises and agreements (Bali), completely neglecting the duties of a town selectman and driving a car even when stripped of his license (Koçak), abuse of power and threatening off city personnel (Ozer). And now it's Bilge proclaiming she's for sharia law in Aalst. Memo to gays in Aalst: PAY ATTENTION BOZOS (not that I think it will hold you back from voting red again, you fucking idiots). You might want to chat with Ms Bilge to hear her POV re, erm, your lifestyle.

One cannot trust muslims. If you kid yourself you can trust people who are brought up with the very notion that it's GOOOOOOOOOD to be treacherous vis-à-vis infidels, you're a blunt fucking idiot.

Pardon my French. But once again, ignore Outlaw Mike's advice at your own peril.

SATURDAY NIGHT JOHANN SEBASTIAN BACH, GABRIEL FAURE.

Johan Sebastian Bach wrote a number of harpsichord concertos prosaically labeled BWV 1052 to 1065 [BWV means Bach Werke Verzeichnis, or Bach Works Catalogue - MFBB]. Of these concertos, meant for harpsichord, strings and continuo, the first seven are written for a single harpsichord.

The following piece is the middle and Largo (slow) part of Concerto 1056, taking about 3 and a half minutes (the entire concerto, beginning with the Allegro Moderato part and ending with a Presto movement, lasts around ten minutes).

I meant to have this followed by another baroque piece but let's jump forward two centuries instead. Pavane by Gabriel Fauré. Heaven in your ears.

Fauré initially wrote his Pavane in F-sharp minor, Opus number 50, for piano. It is however better known in the version for orchestra. It seems that like this it is sometimes performed with an additional chorus, but I never heard it that way before.

I think that a while back I mentioned that the sarabande, a dance in triple metre, found its origin in a Spanish dance (it's rather from conquistadore-held Central America and only later moved across the Atlantic to the mother country, but whatever). Likewise, a pavane is inspired by a slow processional Spanish Court dance.

SAM BACILE'S 'INNOCENCE OF MUSLIMS'. MUSLIM RAGE AN EXPRESSION OF ANGER AT TOTAL FAILURE OF ISLAMIC WORLD TO GROW UP AND BE A VALUED PART OF HUMANITY.

In response to the statements by the so-called President of the Unites States, Hillary Clinton, Ban Ki-Moon, General Dempsey and the entire cabal of spineless cowards groveling in the dirt and procastinating themselves for retarded paedophile worshipping sand apes, I'll post Sam Bacile's movie.

On first sight, I don't think it's a great work.

However, it's great value lies in the fact that it demonstrates clearly how the muslim world has become humanity's burden. All races and religions should move forward to better life on this planet and to broaden humanity's horizon to realms beyond the confines of our planet. I believe that is our ultimate goal.

Most earthlings make sufficient progress to make that goal happen sometime - especially where they adhere to capitalist principles. Some are faster than others, but that is in se unimportant. Botswana and South Korea have different dynamics, but it's clear that, say, over the past sixty years they have advanced their societies remarkably.

Not so muslims. Only when they could rely on significant non-muslim minorties to serve as workhorses, as in Malaysia, or were blessed with black gold, have they been able to achieve something. Even so, they had to rely on others. In the latter's case, their infrastructure would collapse were it not for the infidels, and their gleaming towers are designed and built by kafirs.

I think there's an anthropological dimension to explaining the gratuitous muslim rage we are once again seeing.

I think that deep in their hearts those howling lunatics realize all too well...

... that essentially, they are LOSERS.

IN MEMORIAM JOHN RESTA, SYLVIA SANPIO RESTA, AND THEIR UNBORN CHILD. BRUTALLY MURDERED BY MUSLIM TERRORISTS ON 9/11.

Photobucket

Should relatives of John and Sylvia ever visit this page - well, I do not know if they are or were religious. I would like to ask them to believe that I do not post an Our Father out of religious chauvinism, should they happen to be not of the christian faith. I would like them to know that I consider myself flawed - that I do not consider myself an especially good christian.

But reciting this prayer is one of the ways I learned to cope with loss.

Our Father, who art in heaven hallowed be thy Name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever and ever. Amen.

Sincere and heartfelt condolences to John's relatives, and to Sylvia's: her parents Maria Jose SanPio and Jose Luis SanPio; her sisters Laura Perez, Carolina SanPio and Patricia SanPio; and her brothers Edward SanPio Emiliano Perez and Joseph Perez.

God bless.

SANDRA FLUKE AT THE DNC: IS VERRRRRRY SCARED OF RETHUGLICANS, SEES NOTHING WRONG WITH IMAM SIRAJ WAHHAJ. WELCOME TO LEFTWING BIZARRO WORLD.

Marvellous piece - as per usual - by Mark Steyn on the DNC and one of its guest speakers, Sandra Flake. From the Orange County Register:

"...With respect to Sandra Fluke, I think there's a third future looming. The paperback edition of my book comes out in a week or so, and you can pretty much get the gist of it from the title: "After America." For me, the likely scenario isn't that the Republicans will be terrorizing rape victims or that the Democrats will finally pass the necessary legislation to make contraception available for the contraceptively starved millions crying out for it, but that America will be sliding off the cliff – literally, as Joe Biden would literally say. And when America slides off the cliff it lands with a much bigger thud than Greece or Iceland. I'm not certain that the Republicans will be able to prevent that happening. But I know that the Democrats can't. America owes more money than anybody has ever owed anyone in the history of the planet. But millions of Americans don't see it, and millions of those who do see it don't see it as a problem.

Sandra Fluke is one of them. She completed her education a few weeks ago – at the age of 31, or Grade 25. Before going to Georgetown, she warmed up with a little light BS in Feminist, Gender and Sexuality Studies from Cornell. She then studied law at one of the most prestigious institutions in the nation, where tuition costs 50 grand a year. The average starting salary for a Georgetown Law graduate is $160,000 per annum – first job, first paycheck.

Photobucket

So this is America's best and brightest – or, at any rate, most expensively credentialed. Sandra Fluke has been blessed with a quarter-million dollars of elite education, and, on the evidence of Wednesday night, is entirely incapable of making a coherent argument. She has enjoyed the leisurely decade-long varsity once reserved for the minor sons of Mitteleuropean grand dukes, and she has concluded that the most urgent need facing the Brokest Nation in History is for someone else to pay for the contraception of 30-year-old children. She says the choice facing America is whether to be "a country where we mean it when we talk about personal freedom, or one where that freedom doesn't apply to our bodies and our voices" – and, even as the words fall leaden from her lips, she doesn't seem to comprehend that Catholic institutions think their "voices" ought to have freedom, too, or that Obamacare seizes jurisdiction over "our bodies" and has 16,000 new IRS agents ready to fine us for not making arrangements for "our" pancreases and "our" bladders that meet the approval of the commissars. Sexual liberty, even as every other liberty withers, is all that matters: A middle-school girl is free to get an abortion without parental consent, but if she puts a lemonade stand on her lawn she'll be fined. What a bleak and reductive concept of "personal freedom."

America is so broketastically brokey-broke that one day, in the grim future that could be, society may even be forced to consider whether there is any meaningful return on investment for paying a quarter-million bucks to send the scions of wealth and privilege to school till early middle-age to study Reproductive Justice. But, as it stands right now, a Cornell and Georgetown graduate doesn't understand the central reality of the future her elders have bequeathed her. There's no "choice" in the matter. It's showing up whatever happens in November. All the election will decide is whether America wants to address that reality, or continue to live in delusion – like a nation staggering around with a giant condom rolled over its collective head. Any space aliens prowling through the rubble of our civilization and stumbling upon a recording of the convention compatible with Planet Zongo DVD players will surely marvel at the valuable peak airtime allotted to Sandra Fluke. It was weird to see her up there among the governors and senators – as weird as Bavarians thought it was when King Ludwig decided to make his principal adviser Lola Montez, the Irish-born "Spanish dancer" and legendary grande horizontale. I hasten to add I'm not saying Miss Fluke is King Barack's courtesan. For one thing, it's a striking feature of the Age of Perfected Liberalism that modern liberals talk about sex 24/7 while simultaneously giving off the persistent whiff that the whole thing's a bit of a chore. Hence, the need for government subsidy. And, in fairness to Miss Montez, she used sex to argue for liberalized government, whereas Miss Fluke uses liberalism to argue for sexualized government.

But those distinctions aside, like Miss Fluke, Miss Montez briefly wielded an influence entirely disproportionate to her talents. Like Miss Fluke, she was a passionate liberal activist who sought to diminish what she regarded as the malign influence of the Catholic Church. Taking up with Lola cost King Ludwig his throne in the revolutions of 1848. We'll see in a couple of months whether taking up with Sandra works out for King Barack. But what's strange is that so many people don't find it strange at all – that at a critical moment in the affairs of the republic the ruling party should assemble to listen to a complacent 31-year-old child of privilege peddling the lazy cobwebbed assumptions of myopic narcissism. Lola Montez was what botanists would call a "sport" – morphologically distinct from the rest of the societal shrub. The tragedy for America is that Sandra Fluke is all too typical...."

Oh... yeah. If you followed the link, you will have noticed the following key sentences in that slut Fluke's DNC address:

"During this campaign, we've heard about two profoundly different futures that could await women in this country – and how one of those futures looks like an offensive, obsolete relic of our past," she cautioned. "That future could become real." In one of those futures, women will be "shut out and silenced," rape victims will be "victimized all over again," pregnant women will "die preventable deaths in our emergency rooms," and "access to birth control is controlled by people who will never use it."

Which once again presses home the sheer, baffling and incalculable ability of democrats, or leftists in general, for that matter, to utterly delude themselves. Because, as Janet Levy over at The American Thinker puts it so eloquently:

"...The ardent protests against Republicans and the concomitant apocryphal charges that they are anti-woman and anti-gay are par for the course. In actuality, Republicans are merely advocating for the sanctity of life and traditional marriage and do not demonstrate hatred against any group. However, to hold an opinion contrary to the leftist dogma of the day is obviously enough to spur public vilification and rampant allegations of malfeasance.

Photobucket

The anti-woman, anti-gay allegations Democrats use to characterize Republicans are all the more astonishing in light of the tolerance and accommodations that are conferred on Islam. While Islam is given a pass on these issues, Democrats freely malign Republicans who speak out about repressive Islamic doctrine or sharia, an ideology that is truly anti-woman and anti-gay.

It's worth noting that the Democratic Party's friendliness toward Muslims has prompted an extraordinary gathering in Charlotte, North Carolina, where the Democratic National Convention begins on Sept. 4. As part of the pre-convention festivities, a "Jumah at the DNC" was held through Sept. 1 by the Bureau of Indigenous Muslim Affairs (BIMA), an Islamic nonprofit headquartered in Newark, New Jersey. The Washington Times estimates that "between 500 and 1,000 participants" attended the Jumah, while 20,000 had been predicted to attend the entire three-day event.

The opening prayer was led by Siraj Wahhaj, an advocate for an Islamic state in America, a "potential unindicted co-conspirator" in the first World Trade Center bombing, and a member of CAIR. Event co-organizer Jibril Hough has ties to Islamic terrorists as the imam at a Muslim Brotherhood-owned mosque in Charlotte. That mosque is listed by the U.S. Justice Department as an "unindicted co-conspirator in the largest terror finance case in U.S. history..."
