Via Gates of Vienna:
The National Prayer Service in Washington D.C. on Inauguration Day was 'ecumenical', in the sense that representatives of other faiths were allowed to speak from the pulpit. For islam, that representative was a certain Sajid Tarar, an imam from the Raza-e Mustafa Islamic Center in Pikesville, MD.
If you needed even more proof that treating this vile, inhumane belief system on equal footing is utterly foolish, you get it here, because Tarar had the nerve to recite Sura 1, which calls on Allah to show special disfavor to Jews and those who went astray, i.e. Christians.
Here is the relevant exerpt:
0:29 I seek refuge in allah from Satan.
0:37 Thanks be to allah the merciful one. Guide us on the right path
0:40 for those whom you blessed (muslims), not the path of the ones
0:43 you are angry at (Jews) and the ones who went astray (Christians).
It's no coincidence that Tarar was chosen to represen islam, since he is the founder of Muslims for Trump. Also, he has shown himself willing to support the temporary muslim ban from certain countries as proposed during the Trump campaign.
Be all that as it may, I have now come across enough of this 'faith' to counsel extreme - EXTREME - caution to anyone dealing with 'moderate' muslims. Even muslims who claim they are backing you.
