SATURDAY NIGHT THE JAM, WIM DE CRAENE, PREFAB SPROUT, REM.

The Jam with Start! It's 1980 and actually The Punk Age, but Paul Weller & Co wear tailored suits and really are cool. Another big band of the age that's outside the Punk movement, and which is often named in one breath with The Jam, is The Clash.

Belgian/Flemish singer/songwriter Wim De Craene, unfortunately deceased in 1990, with Tim (1975), a beautiful ballad about a father letting his son free to find his way in life.

Prefab Sprout with Hey Manhattan! Cheesy video, but easy listening. From one of their best albums, From Langley Park to Memphis (1988).

For some reason, these guys, Brits who formed in Newcastle in 78, never topped in the States. I guess it'd have to be an American to explain us why, although I do have some idea.

We end with What's the frequency, Kenneth? The first single taken from the 1994 album Monster.

Nite.
