We owe it to John Boorman, producer and director of Excalibur, for the exquisite marriage of the Matter of Britain's key literary elements, i.e. the Arthurian Legends, and a Wagnerian soundtrack comprising a.o. Parsifal, itself an opera based on a German key literary element - Wolfram von Eschenbach's medieval romance Parzival.
