SATURDAY NIGHT TOM PETTY AND THE HEARTBEAKERS TRIBUTE.

And another icon of my youth has bitten the dust. Thomas Earl Petty aka Tom Petty, from Gainesville, FLA. Rocker, singer/songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and record producer.

To start with: Refugee. What else? From the 1979 album Damn the Torpedoes.

Into the Great Wide Open. From the 1991 album with the same title.

The girl, Gabrielle Anwar, played in Bodysnatchers. The 1993 remake, not the seventies version (obviously) with Donald Sutherland and Veronica Cartwright.

Learning to fly. From the same album.

Had forgotten how HOT that swimming pool girl is. Haven't we all longed for a 1:59 moment?

Mary Jane's Last Dance. From his 1993 Greatest Hits album.

In case you wondered, yes, that's Kim Basinger. In her

days. All in all a rather morbid video. I almost didn't include it, considering the week that was.

You wreck me. From this second solo album Wildflowers (1994).

And to conlude... Tom and Stevie Nicks' duet Stop draggin' my heart around. What else? From Stevie Nicks first solo album, Bella Donna (1981).

Tom wrote it, actually. Tom Petty just proved that he is mortal, like all of us. That song ain't.

RIP Tom Petty. Thanks man, for doing your bit to make my life more pleasant.

MFBB.
