Simple Minds with New Gold Dream. From the 1982 album New Gold Dream.
The lyrics seem to have been written for kumbaya campfire sitters and starry eyed teenage girls holding placards with Refugees Welcome, but I recall that back in 1982, that's - unbelievable - 35 years ago, the mere sound and rhythm were so fantastically different from anything we were used to that Simple Minds was DA act, man.
The Tom Robinson Band with 2-4-6-8 Motorway. Brought it out as their debut single in 1977 and it was an instant hit.
British punk/new wave band from London. Over the top leftist loons but I guess this single is here to stay.
Slaap wel. Oogjes dicht en snaveltjes toe.
