As, very unfortunately, the number of muslims in Belgium is steadily on the rise, so is the phenomenon of the so-called 'Honour' killings. No surprise there. Wherever muslims roam, they bring their pre stone age rites with them.

Belgian daily De Standaard this week had an article on it. Here's a screenshot:

They managed to avoid the M- and I-words com-ple-te-ly. De Standaard is all too happy to cite a certain Marijke Weewaters, Department Chief of the Federal Cell Violence against Women, who's blabbering that they 'know almost nothing about the problem'.

This Marijke Weewaters, like let's say 85% of all public employees, is as clueless about honor killings as a camel in a panel of nuclear physicists. The thirst thing one ought to acknowledge is that the problem of Violence against Women is in let's say 90% of the cases ISLAM. Women shelters all over the country are predominantly inhabited with muslim women, ergo, THERE's your 'root cause'. Period. BASTA. RECOGNIZE that, and you're halfway to a solution.

Now, however, despite cohorts of Federal Cells for Violence Against Women Chiefs, and a press corps of a species that makes lemmings look like noble unicorns, we're further away from a solution than ever.

Another item. Violence against gays is rampant and on the rise, especially in Brussels. Small wonder says Outlaw Mike, muslims constitute at least 25% of the Brussels population already.

Not so De Standaard. This week another article that does take into account that 'over the past couple of days there have been 43 known cases of gay bashing and aggression in the Brussels 'vijfhoek' [the very center of Brussels, actually away from the muslim republics of Molenbeek and Anderlecht], a dog with a hat on knows what quarter the aggressors come from [note: it ain't euro kleptocrats from Greece]...

... and yet you will easier find a billion euros to shore up the Belgian budget deficit than an M- or I-word in a De Standaard article about gay bashing.

LOOK at that pathetic header: BEATINGS AND INSULTS. A report. 'LGTBs about gay bashing: We want to be ourselves again on the streets of Brussels'.

Sorry gays, uh, guys. You shouldn't have voted for the Parti Socialiste or the Socialistische partij, as I'm pretty sure you did. Kind of useless huh, being able to marry your same sex and adopt kiddos in a city turning islamic as you're watching it?

IN MEMORIAM TONY BLANKLEY (1948-2012).

Another Great Champion of the Conservative Cause has died.

Anthony David "Tony" Blankley (January 21, 1948 – January 7, 2012) was born in London but emigrated with his parents to California. He had a brief stint as a child actor (!), and graduated from UCLA and Loyola Law School with a Juris Doctor. He spent 10 years as a prosecutor with the California Attorney General's office, until his conservative views brought him to the attention of Ronald Reagan. When the latter became President, Blankley served him as a political analyst and speechwriter. The high point of Blankley's career was as House Speaker Newt Gingrich's press secretary.

Apart from his lectures at a host of universities and his work for Edelman public relations in Washinton D.C. and The Heritage Foundation, Blankley was known as the author of two well-received books, The West's Last Chance: Will We Win the Clash of Civilizations? and American Grit: What It Will Take to Survive and Win in the 21st Century.

By far the best editorial I found on Mr Blankley is this one in The Washington Times, even though it focuses rather on the human being that he was and not on the Conservative:

Mr. Blankley’s dedication to journalism and the craft of writing was unmatched. His wife Lynda Davis told us he was working on his half-finished weekly column shortly before he died. This zeal was fueled by his love of country and deep concern for America’s direction. His two books, “The West’s Last Chance” and “American Grit,” both focused on our contemporary crisis but were tempered by hope and faith in the greatness of the United States and our people to turn it around. Mr. Blankley’s intelligence, experience and humanity made him a truly irreplaceable individual. While his family grieves for a missed husband and father, his extended family at The Washington Times is shedding tears of love and support for their fallen friend. Godspeed Tony Blankley. Requiescat in pace.

But I suspect that's only as it ought to be, right now.

Tony Blankley died in Washington, D.C. of stomach cancer on January 7, 2012 at Sibley Memorial Hospital, aged 63. A conservative intellectual of his stature will be sorely missed.

In short, that truth is that the killer madman was a MUSLIM, that he could cope neither with his westernized family nor with the fact that his daughter was dating a dirty INFIDEL. So he did what he had to do - according to the muslims' Great Example, that old perverted paedophile scumbag named Mohammed. KILL HER. And with her, his family.

THE CANCER OF ISLAM AT WORK IN AFRICA: NIGERIA GOING THE LEBANON WAY.

Twenty years ago, Nigeria was black Africa's powerhouse, with seemingly, at the time, prospects of becoming as prosperous as South Africa.

That prospect, that dream, is being relentlessly demolished. Because Nigeria is going the Lebanon way, and if current trends continue, I foresee a civil war that will make the dreadful Biafra conflict of the sixties pale by comparison.

The reason?

Nigeria's continuing islamization. Via our pals over at Gates of Vienna:

"Nigeria is an example of a country on the cusp of becoming Islamic: its population is now about 50% Muslim. As a result, it is subject to continuous low-level internecine warfare, punctuated by occasional flare-ups into massive violence, such as the Christmas Day bombings that killed dozens of people.

Yet Nigeria is not a true nation. It is not a homogeneous ethnic and cultural entity, but simply a patchwork relic of British colonialism. If it had formed naturally, it would consist of at least two states: a northern one (mostly Muslim) and a southern one (mostly non-Muslim).

The devout Muslims of northern Nigeria, as represented by the terrorist group Boko Haram (“Western education is a sin”), are now trying to create a de facto sharia state in their portion of the country. That’s what the Christmas Day bombings were about. And now the follow-up is an effort to drive the Christians out of the north and into the south.

Lagos (AsiaNews / Agencies) - Christians in northern Nigeria have three days to leave the area before a series of attacks against them: This is the ultimatum set by the radical Islamic sect Boko Haram, which has claimed responsibility for the massacres that took place Christmas day in 12 sites across the states of Yobe and Borno (northeast), Niger (West), Plateau (central Nigeria). The killings have claimed the lives of over 40 people and already thousands of Christians are fleeing in terror.

The ultimatum comes a few days after the decision by President Goodluck Jonathan (a Christian) to declare a state of emergency for the areas attacked, with the deployment of armed soldiers.

Merry Christmas to all the people of good will.

Personally, this was the first Christmas without my father, who, as this blog's followers know, died on May 2nd.

What was good is that the yearly tradition of my siblings and me gathering at my parents' house, together with our spouses and children, continued. As far as I'm concerned, I'm on good terms with all of them and I guess that goes for everybody.

This must have been a good thing for mother.

Throughout dinner, I kept looking at several of the photos of my dad mom placed in a number of locations throughout the dining room and kitchen area. It was sobering.

My sisters and I - we did have an exceptional father. There's a lot to be said of him, but I'm at a loss for words. Father - you are missed.

Then - who would have thunk it? - a European Central Bank study has come to the conclusion that too much government spending undermines a country's economic performance:

Europe is in the midst of a fiscal crisis caused by too much government spending, yet many of the continent’s politicians want the European Central Bank to purchase the dodgy debt of reckless welfare states such as Spain, Italy, Greece, and Portugal in order to prop up these big government policies.

So it’s especially noteworthy that economists at the European Central Bank have just produced a study showing that government spending is unambiguously harmful to economic performance. Here is a brief description of the key findings.

…we analyse a wide set of 108 countries composed of both developed and emerging and developing countries, using a long time span running from 1970-2008, and employing different proxies for government size… Our results show a significant negative effect of the size of government on growth. …Interestingly, government consumption is consistently detrimental to output growth irrespective of the country sample considered (OECD, emerging and developing countries).

There are two very interesting takeaways from this new research. First, the evidence shows that the problem is government spending, and that problem exists regardless of whether the budget is financed by taxes or borrowing. Unfortunately, too many supposedly conservative policy makers fail to grasp this key distinction and mistakenly focus on the symptom (deficits) rather than the underlying disease (big government).

The second key takeaway is that Europe’s corrupt political elite is engaging in a classic case of Mitchell’s Law, which is when one bad government policy is used to justify another bad government policy. In this case, they undermined prosperity by recklessly increasing the burden of government spending, and they’re now using the resulting fiscal crisis as an excuse to promote inflationary monetary policy by the European Central Bank.

The ECB study, by contrast, shows that the only good answer is to reduce the burden of the public sector. Moreover, the research also has a discussion of the growth-maximizing size of government.

… economic progress is limited when government is zero percent of the economy (absence of rule of law, property rights, etc.), but also when it is closer to 100 percent (the law of diminishing returns operates in addition to, e.g., increased taxation required to finance the government’s growing burden – which has adverse effects on human economic behaviour, namely on consumption decisions).

BELGIAN PRESS SOON DECLARING LIEGE KILLER A SAINT?

By now you must all have heard about the nutter who on Tuesday, December 13, walked onto the Place Saint-Lambert in Liège, Belgium, and started to throw grenades and shoot at random in the shopping crowd. Two teenagers and an elderly woman were killed instantly, a toddler died shortly thereafter. More than a hundred people were wounded. Actually it's no small miracle that the number of dead - the perpetrator included, who reportedly shot himself - can still be counted on the fingers of one hand. Some good background can be found here - and don't forget to have a peek at the guy's cannabis farm.

The name of the killer? Nordine Amrani. Of Moroccan descent. Ahem.

As per usual, Belgian whorenalists tripped over each other in their frantic attempts to whitewash the killer. De Standaard was behaving as usual - horrible - but this time round it was Het Laatste Nieuws which went home with the Nobel Prize for Political Correctness. Barely a couple of hours after the massacre the Belgian population were kindly invited to have some compassion with poor Mr Amrani:

"AMRANI WAS AFRAID TO GO BACK TO JAIL." Golly. It really stands there. Well yeah, if you water about 2,800 cannabis plants a day and are the proud owner of enough handguns to equip a battalion, you may be beginning to suspect you might end up behind bars. Not for long of course, at least not in Belgium (after all he was free on parole). But having to interrupt your daily business at regular intervals to admire one of the numerous Belgian Holiday Resorts for Victims of Society from the inside may become a nuisance, true.

On the same day, four hours later, I took the following screenshot from the same newspaper's online edition:

"AMRANI DID NOT FEEL LIKE A MOROCCAN AND WAS NO MUSLIM". Sheesh. You can imagine the reporter's misty eyes when he wrote that tearjerker.

Anyway phew! THAT's reassuring!!! He did not feel like a Moroccan, he felt like a Belgian? Wonderful! Finally a fully integrated immigrant! Hey, btw asshole, why do you actually think in the first place we would be interested to know whether the murderer did not feel like a Moroccan? Why is it exactly that we have to be reminded that he was no muslim????

As things stand now, Amrani may be declared a Saint come December 13, 2012.

Now over to some headlines from the recent past.

Let us start with another gem from Het Laatste Nieuws. Do you remember this poor sod?

"BLOODBATH ON ARMY BASE BECAUSE PSYCHIATRIST HAD TO GO TO IRAQ". Yes, poor, poor poor Major Hasan killed 14 of the people he lived and worked with because he had to go to Iraq!!!! Well, as they say over here, 'je zou voor minder'. You'd do so for less.

Y'all can believe it? Do you notice the similarities between the excusing, soothing explanations in both cases? Under no pretext are we to suspect that the killer might have done his gruesome job out of some inbred hatred against the West and/or because of his cultural and religious background, even if the former chose to unleash hell on a Christmas market and the latter shouted 'Allahu Akbar' when emptying his automatic weapons on his colleagues.

However. There's less empathy when the killers are potential instruments to smear parties or schools of thought which are anathema to the regime. In 2006, an 18-year old madman called Hans Van Themsche murdered three people in Antwerp - a white two year old toddler, its Mauritanian nanny, and a Turkish woman. Since the guy's aunt was a VB member, the tragedy was gefundenes fressen to attack the VB, then Foreign Minister Karel De Gucht going as far as proclaiming that all those who had voted VB were responsible for the murder too. De Gucht, a notorious shmuck, is currently under investigation for possibly fraudulent homeownership of a villa in Tuscany, but I digress.

Another example, again with a Het Laatste Nieuws screenshot. In January, a lunatic by the name of Jared Lee Loughner gravely wounded Democratic US Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords and killed several other people. Over at Het Laatste Nieuws , De Standaard et al champagne bottles were uncorked and wild parties held. After the hangovers, the editors crafted gems like this one:

"SHOOTINGS PUT PALIN IN THE HOT SEAT AFTER HATE CAMPAIGN". In the same breath, the author of the article sees fit to smear the Tea Party forchrissake, adding that 'it is a movement bent on obstructing President Obama's health care reforms'. Yeah right.

Then there is of course Anders Behring Breivik, who for the record I consider indeed 'our own terrorist'. FYI, Breivik's analysis I consider correct, his acts I condemn. Anyway, No sooner had he committed his gruesome murders or De Standaard published this article by Seumas Milne, who by a hair's width equalled the Norwegian killer to... American conservatives:

In a sane and honest society, people should have the possibility to hear different bells. As the above screenshots illustrate, in Belgium.... the population at large is fed a meticulously crafted media mix of highly subjective content, expressly designed with the aim to demonize ANYTHING that's a shade to the right of Stalin.

Belgium has a new government. It's a complete and utter disaster, and an insult to the basic principles of democracy and good governance.

The man on the front row, fourth from the left, is our new Prime Minister. Elio Di Rupo, a sixty year old openly gay Parti Socialiste hack, instrumental like basically his entire party in reducing Wallonia to utmost poverty and financial dependence on its northern counterpart, rich Flanders.

The manner in which the media - every single branch of it - go out of their way to write the most flattering hagiography about Mr Di Rupo is appalling.

AUTUMN WALK WITH MY SON.

My four year old son and me walking in a hilly area in southern Flanders, with a tad of exxageration often called 'The Flemish Ardennes'. One might as well call the real Ardennes the Belgian Alps, but the name got stuck a long time ago. It was coined at the end of the nineteenth century by a man called Omer Wattez, I forgot what his occupation was, a pharmacist perhaps, but anyway, the man was so enamored of (t)his region he dubbed it the way we still call it today.

The photo was taken a week ago, on Sunday, November 20. It was a gorgeous late autumn afternoon, with a crisp blue sky, soft pale brown colors and fresh cool air that made you almost want to drink it.

My boy did quite well, not one moment asking if daddy would carry him. Looking at that photo now, I feel an immense gratitude for having gotten so much. Not much at all in the eyes of captains of industry, career politicians, astronauts and media celebs for sure, but I couldn't care less.

I am a product of my time and age, like everyone, but I think that my idea that we are here in this world to love, learn, and work towards fulfillment of mankinds ultimate destiny towards the stars... is pretty universal regardless of the continent or century one lives on - and in.

On an afternoon like that, it is difficult to believe that there is so much evil in the world. And judging by the news, the entire planet seems to be in turmoil and/or on the verge of a nervous breakdown. As much as I would have liked to just publish this pic and leave it at that, I feel I should add the following quote by Edmund Burke, father of Modern Conservatism:

The dividing line is the loaded phrase “income inequality.” It’s all about who eats and who pays.

On one level, income inequality is real, and growing. Yet as a bedrock and urgent political issue, it’s pure hokum, cooked up in the socialist faculty lounges and the back rooms where the government unions pull the strings of puppet pols. The aim is to hijack emotions and grow the government pie so favored voters get a bigger slice.

It has surprisingly wide appeal. People from the vagabonds playing drums in Zuccotti Park to the billionaire mayor of New York who rousted them, Michael Bloomberg, say income inequality is a big problem..."

Well, we have been there before.

Many, many times on this blog we have pointed out the foolishness of the Spaniards to opt for Zapatero and his leftist loons when they had had such a terrific premiership in the person of the brave conservative Aznar, who amongst others slashed unemployment by 50%.

Six years ago, on this blog, I blasted the Spaniards for opting for a fucking communist and for giving in to muslim terrorists, in the wake of the Atocha bombings. Apparently, it took them 7 years to come to the same conclusion as I did back in 2004.

But that's not all. That lofty, competent gentleman Aznar had himself cleaned up the mess of an earlier generation of socialists under Felipe Gonzalez. And in 1982 it was for Gonzalez that the Spaniards chose after the center-right Leopoldo Calvo Sotelo, once a technocrat in generalissimo Franco's government - which was responsible for the first 'Spanish Miracle' (Milagro Espanol). In fact, we see a pattern here and actually one that is repeating itself all across the globe. Leftist governments screw things up. When the screwing up has gotten so bad that the voters have had enough, they elect rightwingers again. The rightwingers may clean their predecessors' mess up, and get things back to normal. Then they are rewarded for that by the voters promptly electing leftist smoothtalkers again. These ones then right away set to work to obliterate the good results of the Right, after which the whole cycle can repeat itself.

There really isn't that much difference between the transitions a.) the UK's Attlee/Churchill, b.) Australia's Keating/Howard, c.) Canada's Martin/Harper, the US's Carter/Reagan or Spain's Gonzalez/Aznar. Or now Zapatero/Rajoy.

So, even if I'm pleased with yet another victory for the Right, it is also with a profound sense of déjà vu that I regard Spain's most recent whim. Rajoy inherits an unemployment of more than 20%, which is exactly what Aznar inherited from Gonzalez. Aznar brought it back to 10%. Personally, I don't think Rajoy is of the same caliber as Aznar - he's some kind of euro RINO - but still he should be able to get Spain back on track. Somewhat.

But what will be his reward four, or maybe eight years hence?

No, Spaniards are morons.

At heart, Oakland's occupiers and worthless political class want to live as beneficiaries of a prosperous Western society without making any contribution to the productivity necessary to sustain it.

..."I don't "stand with the 99%," and certainly not downwind of them. But I'm all for their "occupation" continuing on its merry way. It usefully clarifies the stakes. At first glance, an alliance of anarchists and government might appear to be somewhat paradoxical. But the formal convergence in Oakland makes explicit the movement's aims: They're anarchists for statism, wild free-spirited youth demanding more and more total government control of every aspect of life – just so long as it respects the fundamental human right to sloth. What's happening in Oakland is a logical exercise in class solidarity: the government class enthusiastically backing the breakdown of civil order is making common cause with the leisured varsity class, the thuggish union class and the criminal class in order to stick it to what's left of the beleaguered productive class. It's a grand alliance of all those societal interests that wish to enjoy in perpetuity a lifestyle they are not willing to earn. Only the criminal class is reasonably upfront about this. The rest – the lifetime legislators, the unions defending lavish and unsustainable benefits, the "scholars" whiling away a somnolent half-decade at Complacency U – are obliged to dress it up a little with some hooey about "social justice" and whatnot.

But that's all it takes to get the media and modish if insecure corporate entities to string along. Whole Foods can probably pull it off. But a chain of stores that sells shirts, ties, the garb of the corporate lackey, has a tougher sell. The class that gets up in the morning, pulls on its lousy Men's Wearhouse get-up and trudges off to work has to pay for all the other classes, and the strain is beginning to tell.

Let it be said that the "occupiers" are right on the banks: They shouldn't have been bailed out. America has one of the most dysfunctional banking systems in the civilized world, and most of its allegedly indispensable institutions should have been allowed to fail. But the Occupy Oakland types have no serious response, other than the overthrow of capitalism and its replacement by government-funded inertia.

America is seizing up before our eyes: The decrepit airports, the underwater property market, the education racket, the hyper-regulated business environment. Yet, curiously, the best example of this sclerosis is the alleged "revolutionary" movement itself. It's the voice of youth, yet everything about it is cobwebbed. It's more like an open-mike karaoke night of a revolution than the real thing. I don't mean just the placards with the same old portable quotes by Lenin et al, but also, say, the photograph in Forbes of Rachel, a 20-year-old "unemployed cosmetologist" with remarkably uncosmetological complexion, dressed in pink hair and nose ring as if it's London, 1977, and she's killing time at Camden Lock before the Pistols gig. Except that that's three-and-a-half decades ago, so it would be like the Sex Pistols dressing like the Andrews Sisters. Are America's revolting youth so totally pathetically moribund they can't even invent their own hideous fashion statements? Last weekend, the nonagenarian Commie Pete Seeger was wheeled out at Zuccotti Park to serenade the oppressed masses with "If I Had A Hammer." As it happens, I do have a hammer. Pace Mr. Seeger, they're not that difficult to acquire, even in a recession. But, if I took it to Zuccotti Park, I doubt very much anyone would know how to use it, or be able to muster the energy to do so.

At heart, Oakland's occupiers and worthless political class want more of the same fix that has made America the Brokest Nation in History: They expect to live as beneficiaries of a prosperous Western society without making any contribution to the productivity necessary to sustain it. This is the "idealism" that the media are happy to sentimentalize, and that enough poseurs among the corporate executives are happy to indulge – at least until the window smashing starts. To "occupy" Oakland or anywhere else, you have to have something to put in there. Yet the most striking feature of OWS is its hollowness. And in a strange way the emptiness of its threats may be a more telling indictment of a fin de civilization West than a more coherent protest movement could ever have mounted.

A French satirical magazine, Charlie Hebdo, a household name in France, had its offices torched after it published a motoon accompanying an article about the real nature of the so-called "Arab Spring".

The Paris office of the satirical French Magazine Charlie Hebdo has been firebombed and its website has been hacked. It follows the announcement that the magazine would be 'guest edited' by the Prophet Muhammad.
It has been reported that the office was gutted by fire at around 1:00am Paris time, but there were no injuries.

Patrick Pelloux, a witness to the attack, told the AFP news agency that a molotov cocktail was thrown through the window.

"Everything was destroyed," he said.

According to the Associated Press the director of the magazine said “the material damages are large”.

On Tuesday the magazine said that the Prophet Muhammad would be editing the magazine in "honour" of Islam's role in this year's uprisings in Tunisia, Egypt, Libya and other Islamic countries.

"In order fittingly to celebrate the Islamist Ennahda's win in Tunisia and the NTC (National Transitional Council) president's promise that sharia would be the main source of law in Libya, Charlie Hebdo asked Muhammad to be guest editor," the editorial team said in a statement.

On Wednesday morning the magazine's website had also apparently been hacked by an Islamist group.

There have been several cases in Europe of cartoonists, journalists and publishers being threatened or attacked after depicting cartoons and pictures of the religious figure.

Charlie Hebdo was taken to court in 2007 by two Muslim groups for reprinting those cartoons, but the suit was thrown out.

In Belgium, we are now flooded daily with stories of how our marvellous - cough - cultural enrichers from mooslim shitholes wreak havoc upon autochtons.

On the 23rd of October, a real Belgian man of 86 living in Borgerhout, an Antwerp suburb, tired of being harassed and confronted for the sixth time with muslim robbers inside his home, stabbed a 16-year old Moroccan. The latter fled, accompanied by his accomplice (also a Moroccan of course), but died one kilometer further.

This item is already about two weeks old, but its relevance will remain assured for what presumably will turn out a long, long time yet. Rooting out leftist bias from western media channels may well prove to be a sisyphus job.

The story. On October 3, Belgium's most prominent daily De Standaard ran a frontpage article about the north israeli mosque of Tuba Zangaria, torched by Jewish colonists:

How awful for them. Those eeeevil colonists! Now, I'm all for reporting on this kind of stories. Especially so when the burning of this mosque may have something to do with the brutal killing by Paleostinians of a 25 year old Israeli father and his infant son, just a couple of days earlier:

The leftist rag having the audacity to keep calling itself De Standaard, will never inform its readers on scores of torchings of churches all over the islamic world. Here, for example, is a tidbit on a Coptic Church in the Egyptian village of al Marinab. Via Coptic World:

I meant to do a post on something completely different, like the emergence of rocket scientist calibre intellectuals Shakira and Lady Gaga as advisors and fundraisers for Prez Obamba, but then I came across this once again splendid Pat Condell video, courtesy of our pals over at Gates of Vienna:

As long as the vile politico-religious ideology known as 'islam' holds sway in that part of the world, there's NEVER going to be a peaceful solution for Israel or Judea and Samaria. Islamic countries are no good to negotiate with. It is useless for Israel to come to terms with its neighbors in a way civilized countries would recognize, as history has so amply proven. There's no such thing as a two-state solution, a one-state solution. Land for Peace is an exercise in folly.

I don't care for the fate of the Paleostinians in Judea and Samaria. They are plain and worthless idiots. Each and everyone of them could have lived in peace and prosperity by either moving out of that hellhole, or becoming an Israeli citizen, abide the law in that country, if possible forsake his or her 'religion' and earn a decent living and be generally happy.

That leaves Israel. A solution has to be found for Israel.

Striving for 'peace', as in - again - the vocabulary of civilized countries is pointless in that region.

Therefore, Israel would do well to adopt Outlaw Mike's solution for its predicament.

That solution is amazingly SIMPLE.

It's called 'ETERNAL STATE OF WAR'..

That's right, it's really that simple!!! All Israel has to do is to keep its armed forces in a permanent state of readiness, ever ready to strike - and strike devastatingly. Israel does not need phony peace accords with untrustworthy neighbors. What Isreal needs is strong armed forces that can lash out and destroy any external threat.

There are several advantages to my solution:

a.) Permanent REAL PEACE through superior firepower.
b.) The nation's citizens are kept on alert all the time, ensuring they don't become mindless wussies and retirement aficionados like in so much of the world, especially the West
c.) Permanent investments in the Defense Industry will provide countless spinoffs for civil benefit, and the cutting edge technology will make Israeli hitech the envy of the world
d.) No more pointless and costly negotiations
e.) Israel will set an example for the rest of the non-muslim world on how to deal with the adherents of islam

Last week, De Standaard suddenly discovered there's apparently a problem with gay couples being pestered away from their flats, neighborhoods, and even their cities. It even spoke of 'a trend?'?

Pestering gays away, a trend in The Netherlands?

In the Netherlands this week, gay couples announced they were moving, bullied away by their neighbors. Geert Wilders asks for an speedy parliamentary debate. Is intolerance against gays growing?

'Monday evening I got a telephone from a lady. She was older than eighty (!), she said, but now she was, together with her girlfriend, busy packing boxes with their belongings. She was desperate. She wanted away, get out of the provincial town. The reason: she and her girlfriend were bullied by their neighbors because they were a lesbian couple. When I heard that, it got too much for me, and I decided to open up a callpoint.'

... says Henk Krol, chief editor of the Gay Gazette. 'Four days later the counter stood on 82 reportings. That's quite a lot. And of the severity of some incidents I was rather dumbfounded. You know, Geert Wilders, Public Enemy No. 1, Vile Racist, Eeeeeeeeevil Rightwinger, not so long ago denied access in the UK because too dirty for the Country of da Queen. The guy who even more recently narrowly won a trial meant to convict him because of 'hate crimes'.

Yes, that guy. And of all the well-meaning morally superior beings labelled with fancy green, red, orange and blue buttons, The Netherlands has heard nary a peep. Gays, listen well to Outlaw Mike. Yes, we are squarely AGAINST gay marriage and gay adoption, because we think, and we have very decent arguments for it, that this age-old institution is meant for a man and a woman, and we think that the various vehicles the greens and reds gave you to mimic traditional marriage are travesties belonging in a freak theatre for the perverted.

HOWEVER.... we will defend your right to live together peacefully in a civil relationship, embedded in a safe neighborhood, where you will never have to fear to walk hand in hand on the streets.

In a matter of years, the only thing standing between you and islamic subhumans will be a thin grey line of conservatives. The cowards who gave you hope which will prove as false as it was unjustified, will be nowhere to be seen when literally your life is at stake, even when you have moved to the farthest corner of your native land.

The case is the latest to highlight how human rights laws have left the authorities powerless to remove some terrorists and convicted criminals.

Ismail Abdurahman, 28, who hid would-be bomber Hussain Osman for three days, escaped being deported to his native Somalia after judges feared for his safety. Abdurahman is also living at a bail hostel in London despite the protests of police and Home Office officials."

Ladies and gentlemen, that's the UK today. Muslim terrorists who were instrumental in the killing and maiming of tens of UK citizens can walk free after less than half of their prison time, and are then not deported because some drooling leftist judges fear for their safety.

On the other hand, do you remember this one? October 2006, a 14-year old white schoolgirl was arrested, had her fingerprints taken, and was locked up for three hours for refusing to study with Asian children all except one who spoke only Urdu.

A LATE REACTION TO THE LONDON RIOTS.

I realize I'm late to the party but all through August and September I felt I had to do some post regarding the London riots; just as I still feel I should offer my take on the Anders Behrend Breivik murders.

The facts in se - widespread looting, damaging of private and public infrastructure, defiance of police officers, endangering the very lives of common citizens - are bad enough.

But once again I was powerfully reminded of the asphyxiating hold our media have over public opinion, as AGAIN the approach to the riots, offered to the man in the street via the written and televised reports, walked the perpetual, flattrodden paths of social injustice, lack of opportunity, institutionalized victimhood, racism, and of course the 'growing gap between the rich and the poor'.

'Yawn' should not be an appropriate reaction to this approach.

Anger should be it.

Anger at the cabals of leftist assholes who keep repeating the same old lies, packing it in soothing voices and larding it with designed 'interviews' of the poor rioters who 'steal to provide for their kids', all the while pointing to the glass and steel towers of high finance and to neat middle class houses, 'for whom the government does something', as opposed to them, 'for whom the government does nothing'.

I'm damn sorry that I don't have the time to provide the translation to the following video, but I'm sure the images speak bookmarks. Here you have the poor downtrodden youths who 'appropriated' themselves training gear and computer games 'for their kids' for whom they care so much. Certainly the camera will show us from time to time the interviewing reporter from Belgian/Flemish TV, who's clearly showing sympathy for the scum. And as per usual:

Proletarian shopping. Wholly understandable:

If you are a rightwinger, you simply must be too stupid to understand the motives of Ahmed and Moise descending upon racks of DVD players, digirecorders, Xboxes and what not. But LUCKILY there is always Flemish television!!!

Fellow blogger Hoegin, a Flemish engineer working in Norway, has a marvellous piece on this depraved personage, who - fasten your seatbelts - blames the London riots on Cameron's conservative government, which has cut back welfare!

Never mind that Cameron has been in charge for only one year, that the cuts his government is allegedly preparing have not taken effect yet, and moreover, that Britain is just now emering from a ten year stint under Labour! Hoegin makes the astute remarks that a.) it's wondrous how Cameron's mere talking about welfare cuts has apparently within a year thrown back these downtrodden people to the lowest ring of the social ladder, and,

b.) that nevertheless the sorry life of 29-year old Mark Duggan, the guy whose death sparked the riots and who was 'unemployed his whole life', apparently cannot be blamed on ten years Labour.

How a newspaper like De Standaard keeps pretending that it's the Low Countries' equivalent of a 'fair and balanced' newspaper is beyond me.

My two cts about the whole business can be summed up as follows: it's the Left's fault. It's a simple answer but most genial answers are. It's a.) they who have purposefully broken down the core social fabric of society aka the family. The scum that you see rampaging in London's streets has not grown up in normal families. Normal, as in a married heterosexual couple lovingly raising kids and teaching them the virtues of hard work and decent manners. Then this week I overheard my mom telling me about her sister's daughter, who is an accomplished international volleyballplayer, how her former black lover from a couple of years back still owes her - the volleyballplayer - stacks of money which she foolishly lent him to refurbish his house. Btw, with former I meant it's been over for some time, the love I mean. Not that his state of being black is over of course, although some apparently use wondrous soaps.

Does this mean that all black men are untrue? It doesn't. But the ones who jump from hole to hole like rabbits, giving a flying fuck for what becomes of their seed, are far more numerous than the ones who stay and try to be decent dads. Period. And if you disagree with me you're either nuts or live in a parallel universe.

Where was I? Oh, b.) It's also the left which has opened the floodgates of an unbridled immigration, letting loose on the UK's soil legions of incapable fuckwads who can barely read and/or write and are then expected them to find decent jobs.

BELGIAN DAILY DE STANDAARD ELATED AT YET ANOTHER OPPORTUNITY TO SMEAR UK FORCES.

A field day again for Belgium's 'top' newspaper De Standaard, and it's not even September 11 yet.

In the UK, retired judge Sir William Gage made public his inquiry into the death of Iraqi hotel manager Baha Moussa, allegedly tortured by British soldiers in 2003 in Iraq's main southern city of Basra. During an interrogation by British soldiers belonging to 1st Battalion, the Queen's Lancashire Regiment, an interrogation that would have lasted 36 hours, Moussa would have suffered 93 injuries, including broken ribs and a broken nose.

The gist of Gage's report is that 'An Iraqi man died after suffering an "appalling episode of serious gratuitous violence" in a "very serious breach of discipline" by UK soldiers, as De Standaard's pals from the BBC were so eager to report.

Naturally, a conclusion like that is gefundenes Fressen for DS as well as for the entire Belgian media landscape, which is as politically diverse as ink jet black has shades of green and red. Not a hint of WHY exactly it was that 1st Battalion, QLR saw fit to detain Mousa and several companions, but that must have been grossly unimportant.

The caption in this Thursday, September 8, 2011 DS article reads 'British government criticised for torture in Iraq'.

Now, don't get me wrong. I'm all for an institution like the British Army to keep a spotless record with regards to upholding human rights, ridding itself of war criminals and so on. If Mr Moussa was indeed tortured for no good reason and if he died as a result, the service members responsible for his death should face justice.

But that's not the point.

The point is that a leftist rag like De Standaard, which because of some cosmic anomaly keeps presenting itself as 'objective' will just NEVER fail to inform its readers of alleged misconduct by western forces in the conflict du jour.

HOWEVER...

when it's about this kind of stories, De Standaard readers are left curiously in the cold.

Or, would it not be better to say 'De Standaard considers them nonexistant'? I think it would be.

I remember the sad deaths of these six men. I remember how appalled I was, seven years ago, to read about how these men, who were training local police forces and doing a job for the good in an islamic hellhole, were butchered by muslim animals.

I haven't forgotten. De Standaard, on the other hand, has chosen never to know them.

Until we get rid of this sickening pathological tendency to see the worst in the best of us, and the best in the worst of our enemies, our continent and indeed, western civilization, will continue its demise.

THIRTY YEARS AGO: THE OSIRAK RAID.

My friend and fellow conservative Traveller, an accomplished engineer who has been active in a plethora of countries, sent me the following interesting videos on the daring Osirak raid by Israeli fighter bombers, in June 1981.

In the mid-seventies, Iraq, by then for some years already under firm control of Saddam Hussein and his Baath party, purchased a 40MW light water nuclear reactor from France. The controversy surrounding the feasibility of making sufficient plutonium for a nuclear weapon using this reactor, in a sufficiently short time, continues to this day. The regime claimed the reactor was for peaceful purposes only, but given the track record of Saddam's Iraq, such a claim was doubtful at best. The regime was perhaps even lured into thinking, by the French engineers, that the Osirak reactor was indeed capable of producing plutonium for a ncuclear weapon.

In any case, since the founding of the Jewish state Iraq had shown itself to be viciously hostile, on several occasions launching its armies against Israel. This had happened as early as 1948. To trust such a state to make inroads in nuclear technology without taking precautions against a nuclear strike would have been foolish. When intense diplomatic efforts to make France and Italy stop its assistance in building the reactor failed, the israeli government decided to bomb the site to rubble.

This was the daring Osirak raid, dubbed 'Operation Opera'. On June 7, 1981, six F-15A's and eight F-16A's took off from Eitzion AFB, crossed Jordanian and Saudi airspace, and destroyed the Osirak reactor. One of the F-16 pilots was Ilan Ramon, who would become Israels first astronaut and who would be tragically killed in the 2003 Columbia disaster.

SEX EDUCATION IN THE US OFF THE RAILS.

WHY TODAY'S SEX EDUCATION WON'T WORK.

"When I hear that New York City has mandated that sexual education be taught in all middle schools and high schools, as a doctor, I can appreciate the motivation behind the mandate. Teen sexual behavior and risk-taking is a serious problem with serious consequences.

But when I see that the content involves a token nod to abstinence and an emphasis on “safer sex” practices, I’m reminded of a saying made popular by Alcoholics Anonymous: “The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again but expecting different results.”

Graphic sex education inside and outside of the schools, which teaches kids about the risks of early sexual behavior and provides detailed information about how to decrease those risks, has been stirring controversy for more than 30 years -- but has little significant effect on outcomes.

If we really cared about protecting our teens, medical professionals, educators, politicians and parents would step back and admit that something is just not working.

I’ll never forget a patient that I cared for during my residency training -- 17 or 18 years old and pregnant for the first time, one of many pregnant teenagers who came to our prenatal clinic.

In the first trimester, we treated her for chlamydia; in the second, for genital warts. In the third trimester, we hospitalized her -- not for pregnancy complications but because she had planned suicide after being notified that the painful blisters on her private parts were incurable genital herpes.

“How could this happen to me?!” she said. “We used a condom almost every time!”

Dealing with pregnant teens and sexually transmitted diseases was part of our daily routine as medical residents. These teens received medical care an average of 15 times throughout their pregnancies.

Most of my fellow residents exerted every effort to educate them about “safer sex” and ensure that they didn’t leave the hospital after delivering their babies without having received a contraceptive shot, pills or condoms. Even so, a staggering number of these girls returned to our prenatal clinic within six months -- pregnant with their second or third child.

Most teenagers that I’ve cared for know about sex, condoms and birth control -- and have ample access to it. They know where to get it, when to use it and what can happen if they don’t. Yet teen pregnancy rates remain unacceptably high; sexually transmitted diseases in some major cities are epidemic.

In medicine, sometimes what is needed is a paradigm shift -- not just small changes but a radical re-evaluation of the problem and the assumptions and presuppositions relating to it.

If we had the courage to look honestly at teen pregnancy, we wouldn’t be satisfied with a mandate that does the equivalent of placing a tiny band-aid on a gushing artery. If we had the courage to admit that we don’t have a solution, we’d be unwilling to spend more money on an old model that has pretty much failed."

Why don't we just call a spade a spade and say out loud that AGAIN we are observing here the umpteenth leftist screwup when it comes to, wait, oh, when it comes to just about ANYTHING, whether it's the economy, foreign policy, or really taking effective measures with regard to the health and well-being of the population at large.

We are too far down the road to save the current generation, the generation before it, and possibly the following. What's needed is an conservative revolution, of which the cornerstone must be the renaissance of the traditional family. Everything else is plain stinking bullshit. No sex before you are eighteen. Sex education only from 16 on. Reconsidering the return of non-mixed high schools - in Europe, plenty of evidence is beginning to emerge that students perform far better when they don't have to keep their hormones in check all day - and if I can believe an elderly teacher's couple, of which the husband taught my physics and chemistry when I was seventeen (and damn good btw) - we may expect in the near future a modest return, in some quarters at least, of unisex classes.

Parents don't have to be prudes like in the old days. There's nothing mysterious about sex. It's as normal as eating, drinking and breathing. Moms and dads shouldn't be afraid to explain to their kids what female and male genitalia look like, what they can be used for, and how they should be used. I know that I won't have the slightest trouble with it when the time comes to educate my own children about it. But like with everything else, there's a right time to start with it, and that time ain't when they are 11.

In Philadelphia they disagree with Outlaw Mike, but they're all idiots in Philadelphia:

"A new campaign by Philadelphia officials to reduce sexually transmitted diseases allows children as young as 11 to receive free condoms via mail order, outraging some parents who believe that's too early to start getting physical.

....

"Playing it safe just got easier," the website reads. "If you live in Philadelphia and are between the ages of 11 and 19, you can now have condoms mailed directly to you for FREE. Maybe it's difficult for you to stop by one of our sites to pick up condoms. Or maybe you're just shy or feeling weird about picking up condoms."

Jeff Moran, a spokesman for Philadelphia's Department of Health, said the campaign was launched last week. No complaints had been received as of today, he said.

Philadelphia Mayor Michael Nutter unveiled the campaign on April 7 as he announced the winning design for the city's custom-labeled condom wrapper.
Recent national data indicates that Philadelphia has one of the highest rates of STDs among comparable cities, with African-Americans and adolescents being disproportionately affected, according to city officials. And a 2009 Youth Risk Behavior Survey found that 37 percent of sexually active Philadelphia high school students did not use a condom during their last sexual encounter.

The rate of teen pregnancy has dropped by roughly 40 percent during the past 20 years, but approximately 1,100 teenagers still give birth every day, or more than 400,000 annually, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

While giving away condoms to children as young as 11 might "seem a little young" to Kevin Burns, executive director of Action AIDS, a health clinic in Philadelphia listed on TakeControlPhilly.org, he said the free condom program is appropriate.

I am not a mayor like Nutter and I'm not even a spokesman for a Department of Health like Moron, but I'm telling these gentlemen their campaign will only make matters worse. What to do then? Well, it's too late to save 13-year old mothers and 35-year old granddads. It's the root causes that have to be tackled here. The steady gramscian advance of leftist idiocy throughout our institutions, over a period of 80 years, got us here. Blacks should stop voting for Democrats, come to their senses, and embrace sound conservative values. Take my word for it - they will do far better, live meaningful, happier and healthier lives, and be productive citizens.

Either you turn in your Party card and join the Republicans, preferably the real ones, and you start working on restoring the Black Family. You may be starting to see results just before you die, assuming you will live long enough.

A DAY OUT WITH THE KIDS IN HUIZINGEN PROVINCIAL DOMAIN.

The following photos were taken more than three months ago. Due to the developments in my family, I never found the time, nor did I deem it appropriate enough, to publish them before this date.

Belgium has ten provinces. One of them is the province of Vlaams Brabant (Flemish Brabant), actually the northern half of the former province of Brabant tout court, which a while back got split into a Flemish and a Walloon half.

Most if not all provinces own at least one dedicated recreational area. I do not want to dwell here on the issue if possession and management of such areas should really be the job of a province, even though the question may be more relevant than you think. But anyway, the province of Flemish Brabant owns the Huizingen Provincial Domain, some twenty kilometers due south of Brussels. I have known it since childhood, and my earliest memories from the place bring back feelings of awe and delight over the beautifully arranged gardens and ponds.

I guess feelings like that may come to an end.

About four months ago, I decided to take the wife and children back to the place.

I thought I was in Marrakech.

If you think I'm some kind of dour and sour grinch, you should have a stroll in Provinciaal Domein Huizingen yourself. And experience the "soft" ethnic cleansing yourself. If you're still not convinced, you might want to go to another recreational area in Flemish Brabant, the BLOSO domain of Hofstade. At about the same time I made these photos in Huizingen, between two hundred and three hundred Moroccan youths surrounded 8 cops there, called in for backup of the domain's own security officers, and beleagered them for about one hour. The moroccans descended a hail of stones and all sorts of projectiles over the cops and it was not until some 70 reinforcements came in from neighboring communes that things gradually cooled down.

De Ster near Sint-Niklaas, birthplace of Mark Steyn's mother, is another such area where authochton Belgians are pushed out. Whether through violence like in Hofstade and Sint-Niklaas, or sheer intimidation like in Huizingen.

Europe will pay a heavy price for its embrace of the faux ideology of multiculturalism, its rejection of sound conservative values, its refusal to procreate, and its shirking away from its responsibility to cherish and defend what was acquired through the ages at great cost. It is one thing when the culture that is yielding to another one is in fact inferior to the replacement. When what we nowadays call the 'Old Belgians' accepted Roman mores and culture over 2,000 years ago (not without some tough fighting, martial honour thus saved), it was a bonus for everyone but especially for us recipients of all that Rome had to offer.

It is an entirely different thing when the yielding culture is actually superior to the newcomer.

I absolutely reject what Anders Behring Breivik did, for his acts constitute nothing less than terrorism. But his analysis is correct.

Quite often a brief news story sums up the collective pathologies of postmodern American society. Here is a recent tragic news item from my local paper, followed by some commentary:

A woman found slain at a Hanford car wash this week was killed randomly when a 17-year-old gang member happened to see her while taking a walk, Hanford police said Thursday.

Denise McVay was washing her car — something she did several times a week — early Tuesday morning before work.

The teen was wandering the streets after leaving a party when he saw McVay at the Royal Car Wash on Garner Avenue at about 5 a.m. and decided to kill her, police said.

The teen “simply wanted to kill somebody that night” and McVay, 49, was “in the wrong place at the wrong time,” Capt. Parker Sever said. “It was a purely random act.”

The teen stabbed McVay several times and slit her throat.

The teen took McVay’s money and her car, Sever said, and drove to the home of a fellow gang member, Mauricio Ortiz, 18, of Hanford. Sever said the teen was covered with blood and told Ortiz what he had done.

Ortiz helped him ditch the car at Tachi Palace Casino and went with him to Visalia Mall, where the teen used McVay’s money to buy clean clothes, Sever said.

The teen, whose name was not released because of his age, was booked into the Kings County Juvenile Center on suspicion of murder. Ortiz was booked into the Kings County Jail on suspicion of being an accessory after the fact.

Walk through this story to learn something about our confused American society. First, note the discrepancy between the employed Ms. McVay — washing her car in the early morning hours on her way to work, apparently intent on having a clean automobile when she arrived — and the unidentified youth who, we are told at first, was “taking a walk,” later expanded into “wandering the streets after leaving a party.” How did we go so nonchalantly in a mere two paragraphs from “taking a walk” to “wandering the streets after leaving a party”?

In our present society, an able-bodied young man of 17 has leisure to walk about at 5 a.m. after a night of partying, while a hard-working woman squeezes in such an early morning moment to wash her car in order to appear presentable at work.

Note, furthermore, that our society has no compunction about letting the world know the identity of Ms. Denise McVay, who was horribly murdered and left dead on the pavement of a car wash. But it is worried that we might learn the name of the “17-year-old gang member,” also known as an anonymous “teen.” Yet why are we, as a society, more sensitive to disclosing the identity of a gang-member and suspected killer than of a slain productive worker?

In the transition from a shame culture to a guilt culture, America has become a confused society that values the sensitivities of the felonious living far more than respect for the law-abiding dead. Could it not simply waive anonymity protocols in cases of capital crimes? If 16- or 17-year-old would-be murderers knew that their names, addresses, and photos would be published on commission of a crime, would that create any deterrence to their viciousness — or at least provide solace to the community that barbaric killers do not slide so easily through the special exemptions afforded to immature “teens”?

Unfortunately, the story only becomes more depressing. We next read that the anonymous teen “simply wanted to kill somebody that night,” and, unfortunately, Ms. McVay, 49, was “in the wrong place at the wrong time.” So a Capt. Parker Sever goes on to characterize the fact that “the teen stabbed McVay several times and slit her throat” as “a purely random act.”

Examine what happens next: The murderous teen then “drove to the home of a fellow gang member, Mauricio Ortiz, 18, of Hanford . . . the teen was covered with blood and told Ortiz what he had done. Ortiz helped him ditch the car at Tachi Palace Casino and went with him to Visalia Mall, where the teen used McVay’s money to buy clean clothes.”

The bloody murderer shows up unexpectedly at the home of a friend. Mr. Ortiz apparently decides that such gore is not all that shocking, and so does not suggest that the teen turn himself in, but rather, almost by second nature, helps him to hide the crime. Both gang members apparently know well both the parking lot of the Tachi Palace Casino and the Visalia Mall, where they respectively ditch the car and buy new clothes with the deceased’s hard-earned money. The familiar haunts of a casino and mall do not readily suggest elemental poverty. And did the murderer and his accomplice really go to the mall to buy “clean” clothes? I think it would be more accurate to suggest “new” clothes — given that both undoubtedly had existing spare clothing. Why must we be insulted by taking at face value any such tale, gleaned from either the killer or his accomplice?

It leads us to wonder how many Mauricio Ortizes there are in our area, who at the first suggestion of lucre are quite ready to try to cover up a bloody murder and spend the victim’s cash. If the time comes when there are more of them than there are Denise McVays, civilization is finished.

We end this morality tale with society’s now-standard self-righteous declaration, “The teen, whose name was not released because of his age . . .” — as if we have evolved morally from a hundred years ago, when the suspect would have enjoyed no such exemption. But what really was “his age,” and did it matter whether the anonymous suspect killer who butchered the hard-working Ms. McVay was chronologically 17 or 50? The original intent of the law was apparently to protect the immature pre-adult, but it has now the effect of directing society’s empathy to a sophisticated anonymous killer and away from his publicly identified victim. Note as well that the murder suspect himself earns only Juvenile Hall; his post facto accessory rates the harder county jail — another of a sick society’s messages that we calibrate age far more than savagery.

I have no doubt that in the next two years a good deal of society’s capital will be invested in this unidentified youth and his named accomplice. Preliminary hearings, state-paid public defenders, an array of psychiatrists, and periodic proclamations from the defense team about particular childhood traumas suffered by the killer — all to be followed by years of legal counsel, further psychological examinations and treatment, and of course, if there is a conviction, nearly $40,000 a year in incarceration expenses — as our fast-paced society races onward and upward, without much thought of one productive citizen, Denise McVay, washing her car in the early morning on her way to work. None of us are exempt from such terrible arithmetic, and we now must live with the realization that tomorrow morning any one of us could be written off as either unlucky or unwise in our demise, while the rights of our killer would be obsessed over.

You see, it is characteristic of a morally bankrupt society to be absorbed with the evil living without much remembrance of the more noble dead. The former gang member and his family by all means must not be embarrassed; the dead woman is reduced to being “in the wrong place at the wrong time.”

Enough said.

First off, I would like to wish all True Americans a Happy Fourth of July!!!

Then I suggest you all read the latest The Brussels Journal column by Johnny Fincioen, a Belgian/Fleming living, working and contributing in the US.

"...All figures in dollars. The US economy (GDP) is worth about 15 trillion (2009 was 14.12 trillion). The total federal debt stands now higher than 14 trillion, and reaches about 100% of GDP. If all non-covered expenses for retirees over the next years are added, the total federal debt reaches about 400 % of GDP. The debt of the 50 individual States and of all local governments in the country is NOT yet added to this total.

The yearly federal deficit during Obama’s three years in office is on average 1.5 trillion, and this on a budget total of 3.83 trillion. This means about 40%. Obama borrows 40 cents on every dollar he spends. His administration predicts a yearly budget deficit of over 1 trillion for the next 10 years.

Obama wants Congress to raise the debt ceiling, now legally fixed at a bit over 14 trillion, with at least another 2 trillion. In exchange he promises to lower the expenses with 1 trillion over the next 10 years. This means 100 billion per year. His deficit improves to only 1.4 trillion. The cut equals 7% of his deficit, or not even 3% of his budget. The Republicans in Congress accept to raise the debt ceiling, if Obama cuts his spending with 2 trillion over the next 10 years. This means 200 billion per year. The deficit improves to 1.3 trillion. The cut equals 14 % of the deficit, or about 5% of Obama’s budget. Both proposals still generate a deficit of over 1 trillion per year. Conclusion: the Republicans have no choice but to accept a raise of the debt ceiling.

Both US Parties don’t consider the US financial situation serious.

And, worse is about to happen: nobody is willing to buy US government debt at the present conditions.

During the last 12 months the American Central Bank, the Fed, bought 70% of all new US government debt. This means, the government ‘prints’ money: more money is brought into circulation. This creates inflation, but it gives the US government access to cheap money, because the Fed keeps the interest artificially low.

The average interest percentage on the total debt of the US stands now at about 2.5%. Historically, this percentage was on average close to 6%. 2.5% on 16 trillion is 400 billion. If the percentage would normalize and for example double, it would mean an extra cost of another 400 billion. Four times more than Obama’s deficit reduction proposal, and twice as much as the Republican’s proposal!

In which fairy tale do these folks live?

How do we get out of this mess? A dual policy: extreme harsh spending cuts, and a spectacular, yearly minimum 5% growth of the US economy to boost the tax receipts, and to ameliorate the debt/GDP ratio.

Serious, with-the-chainsaw kind of spending cuts. Obama and the Democrats want the opposite: more government power, and more citizens to depend on government handouts. The Republicans in Congress made a timid first step with their 2012 budget proposal, but they still run away from closures of any government departments, from rising the retirement age, from the abolishment of certain social programs and subsidies.

Grow the economy. By cutting taxes in a spectacular way, and by abolishing complete sets of rules and laws. Unleash private enterprise. Free the citizens. Obama and his Democrats propose to raise the taxes, and every day they throw more new rules at businesses and citizens. The Republicans only talk about cutting taxes with a few points here and there, and about throwing out only a few rules.

It’s a shame, but first it will have to become much worse, before most Americans will awake from their dream...."

Mr Fincioen is right. One of the great enigmas of the past three years is the lack of outrage among Republicans, and by extension, all Americans, about the current Administration in general and the current occupant of the White House in particular.It took me 30 seconds in 2004 to figure out who Obama was: the world's most successful Fried and barbecued Air Salesman. SEVEN YEARS LATER.... I'm not taking one word back, and I'm dumbfounded why high-profile Americans who ought to know better, people like Petraeus, Boehner or Gates, still pay respect to a charlatan who made it into the WH thru one of those incomprehensible cosmic malfunctions.

I am definitely not suggesting to take the guy out. But that Americans should get him out asap, via the ballot box, is IMPERATIVE.

Sorry for the light blogging. It's not because of a lack of topics, to the contrary. It's just that, well, things just aren't the same anymore after dad's death. Dad was a giant in his own way and yes, I do feel somewhat disconnected. Plus, the workload is as always, even more, crushing. Biz is quite good, even so that I'm engaging more personnel. I'm not the only one. Belgium goes thru something like a minor boom, with an economy that grew 2.2% over the past year, in any case a lot better than most of our neighbors including Germany (O.4%!).

The fact that this happened under the watch of a caretaker government - more than one year after the 2010 elections, Belgium still hasn't formed a government that reflects the voters' preference - is one more illustration of the obvious fact that countries need less government, not more. This caretaker government can basically take no important decisions - the fact that it declared war on Gaddafi is the obvious exception, and a baffling one at that - and yet the economy is humming fine. When some politican says to you, 'My plans are going to create so and so many tens of thousands of jobs', treat that personage with the utmost suspicion. Politicians can't create jobs, apart from the ones they need to fill their administrations. They can great an environment that may encourage entrepreneurs to create jobs though. This is what's happening right now in Belgium, only our politicians never meant it to go it this way.

On the other hand, when you're supposedly a gay girl in Damascus and you have suddenly vanished, then LGBT organizations across the globe suddenly snap wide awake, every liberal newspaper suddenly has a new Heroine, and Peter Beinart, the airhead who was one of the reasons I dumped Time Magazine, twats, er, tweets that 'This woman is a hero'.

As we all know by now, that heroine was a 40 year old US student (!) living in Scotland, a certain Tom McMaster. Reportedly straight, but you never know. Also, check out his T-shirt and notice that Mr McMaster during the first Gulf War went to the region to protest US "interventionism" and you see that all the ingredients are there to not be a sane badass rightwing individual spending his time in a useful way:

After centuries of disdain for the preferred beverage of imperialists, American officers in the Hindu Kush now drink more tea than the Brits, and they don't even like it. But a charlatan told them to do it, so the tea allowance now consumes 23 percent of the Pentagon budget.

Yet Tom MacMaster topped even that. He took an actual, live, mass popular uprising and made an entirely unrepresentative and, indeed, nonexistent person its poster-"girl." From CNN to The Guardian to Bianca Jagger to legions of Tweeters, Western liberalism fell for a ludicrous hoax.

Why?

Because they wanted to. It would be nice if "Amina Arraf" existed. As niche constituencies go, we could use more hijab-wearing Muslim lesbian militants and fewer fortysomething male Western deadbeat college students. But the latter is a real and pathetically numerous demographic, and the former is a fiction – a fantasy for Western liberals, who think that in the multicultural society the nice gay couple at 27 Rainbow Avenue can live next door to the big bearded imam with four child brides at No. 29 and gambol and frolic in admiration of each other's diversity. They will proffer cheery greetings over the picket fence, the one admiring the other's attractive buttock-hugging leather shorts for that day's Gay Pride parade as he prepares to take his daughter to the clitoridectomy clinic.

Yes, yes, I stereotype. But stereotypes become stereotypes because they're grounded in observable reality. "Amina Arraf" is grounded in nothing more than a fetish fantasy as preposterous as those lipstick lesbians in porn movies who can't wait for some hot straight guy to jump in and make it a threesome.

It would be statistically improbable for there to be no women attracted to other women in Damascus. But "Amina Arraf" is nothing more than the projection of parochial obsessions on to distant lands Western liberals are too lazy to try to figure out. In 2007 in The Atlantic Monthly, Andrew Sullivan, not yet mired up Sarah Palin's birth canal without a paddle peddling bizarre conspiracy theories about the maternity of her youngest child, announced that, never mind his policies, Barack Obama's visage alone would be "the most effective potential rebranding of the United States since Reagan." As he explained:

Belgian daily Het Laatste Nieuws is astounded that "it could come this far".

I am not.

Female employees of advertising company BBDO based in Molenbeek, in Brussels West, now have to use a parking lot exclusively for women, surrounded by high fences topped with barbed wire and monitored all day by cameras.

The reason? Upon arriving at work and, later, when returning to their car at the end of the day, they are continually harassed by moroccan youths.

It's intimidation, and it's working. This company stays for the moment, but feels compelled to take drastic measures like this to allow their female employees to get in and out of their cars - the moments they are most vulnerable - while not having to fend off attacks by young muslim stinkers, and also to prevent the total demolition of the women's cars in their absence.

This is not "simple" vandalism. The muslim youths are on a mission, endorsed by the elders, to make it clear to women that their place is at home. Islam is a culture of mysogyny. A woman is worth half a man, at the (very) best, and women who want to walk freely on the streets and earn themselves a living are sluts and whores.

I'm sorry, but I don't have the time to offer a translation. The guy's saying that it's become very, very bad, the woman that she's trying not to make eye contact. The perps are "allochtons" - codespeak for genetically degenerated muslim scum of moroccan descent with IQ's of around 70.

The irony of the whole affair is that BBDO is a "cool" progressive company which counts among its clients the... SP.a, the Flemish Socialist Party, and that it was responsible for the ads of the SP.a's last election campaign, trumpeting the blessings of the multicultural society. Even so, with his female employees being harassed on a daily basis, BBDO's CEO Johan Van De Poel can't pull his head out of his ass since he doesn't get beyond calling the perps "youngsters" who "harass" the females, "steal handbags, laptops, whatever" and "yell things after them".

By far the best Memorial Day tribute I read was that of Judge Patrick Dugan on Fox News, yesterday:

"... Memorial Day is not about politics. Whatever your feelings about current or former wars, remember this: All military personnel take an oath. The fallen swore and gave their lives honoring a promise:

"I do solemnly swear that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; and that I will obey the orders of the President of the United States and the orders of the officers appointed over me, according to regulations and the uniform code of military justice. So help me God."

The soldiers who gave Uncle Sam a blank check with their lives offered to answer our nation's call to arms. The military does not decide to go to war; it just answers the call of our nation. And the numbers of those who have died answering that call continue to rise: 4,454 and counting in Iraq; 1,586 and counting in Afghanistan; 58,220 in Vietnam; 36,574 in Korea; 405,399 in World War II. Since 1775, in fact, more than 1.3 million military personnel (and counting) have given their lives for this nation.

It's a huge number, but, then, Memorial Day is not about the numbers. It's about the individual human being: the American, the man, the woman, the father, the brother, the spouse, the friend, the son, the uncle and the daughter who answered the call of our nation to deploy into violence, into war.

It's about people such as Upper Darby High School graduate Lt. Col. Mark Patrick Phelan, 47, from Pennsylvania, a father, uncle, husband and brother who went to Iraq with the 416th Civil Affairs Battalion (Norristown) to win the "hearts and minds" of Iraqis. His remains now lie in Arlington National Cemetery, with fellow heroes, such as Cpl. Michael Crescenz, of Philadelphia, a Vietnam veteran who received the Medal of Honor. Lt. Col. Phelan was an Army reservist killed by a "homicide bomber" who rammed his explosives-filled car into the Humvee in which Phelan was riding.

Memorial Day is about Americans like infantry paratrooper Robert Dembowski Jr., 20, a graduate of Pennsylvania's Council Rock High, who was killed in Baghdad in a small-arms attack. It's about Roger Haller, 49, a Maryland National Guard command sergeant-major, whose helicopter was shot down in Iraq and who now rests in Arlington. It's about Nicole Frye, 19, a Civil Affairs soldier from Wisconsin, who was killed in Iraq by an IED as she drove an unarmored Humvee that had a plastic tarp for a door.

Memorial Day is for Bradli Coleman, 19, of Ford City, Pa., who was killed by a mortar as he slept on his bunk in Mosul, Iraq, after working the night shift in Task Force Olympia headquarters. Memorial Day is about Marine Maj. John Spahr, 42, a former Philadelphia All-Catholic quarterback at Saint Joseph's Prep, whose F18 went down in Iraq. Memorial Day is about Marine John Basilone, killed in the Pacific during World War II. Memorial Day is to remember the sacrifice of Lee Hartel, killed in Korea. It is about Patrick Ward, 21, a helicopter machine-gunner from Fairmount who did not return from Vietnam.

Every day is Memorial Day for the fallen's families, friends and comrades-in-arms. Look into the eyes of Robert Dembowski Sr., or those of a Gold Star Mother, and you will see the immeasurable price that some pay for our freedoms.

Memorial Day is about the infinite void that each deceased hero leaves. It's about the families and friends of Phelan, Crescenz, Dembowski, Frye, Spahr, Haller, Coleman, Basilone, Hartel, Ward and countless others, about their everyday pain as they continue through life even as their loved ones become names on marble monuments.

As you enjoy your federal holiday, I urge you to include in your festivities a time to remember what Memorial Day truly means: a time to stop, put down your barbecue tongs and join the families and comrades-in-arms, and think, if even just for a short time, about the sacrifice signified by the numbers on the walls.

I urge you to take your children to a ceremony honoring those who have fallen. Take them to a Memorial Day parade. Put a flag on your lawn. Help a veterans' group. Better yet, help a "survivors' group." Attend one of the many services throughout the region honoring our war dead.

Dad in my grandfather's joinery, circa 1953. He had started helping my grandfather, Remi, at age fourteen, probably even earlier.

Dad, aged 76, repairing a foothpath along the parking lot, late autumn 2010 as evidenced by the warm clothing he's wearing. He is removing old grout with a grinding disc. This very last stretch of one meter is the last part of a job that had cost him the better part of summer. Ten years earlier the entrepreneur had applied grout with far too much sand in it, with the result that much of it had given way to weeds. Dad was about to put better grout on the very spot you see here when severe cold and wetness set in. He put away his tools, deciding to finish the job in Spring 2011.

He never got that far.

Today, May 10th, at about 1pm, my father was buried on the cemetery of his hometown. In the morning, a funeral Mass was given in the Saint Aldegondis church.

We will never forget him. We must now support our dear mother.

I have, after all, decided not to publish any kind of essay or short story on my father's life since I've come to consider it a private matter. Suffice to say... that he was an exceptional man.

In his honor, I will refrain from blogging for two weeks more.

Farewell father. Until we meet again.

IN MEMORIAM MY FATHER.

On Monday, May 2nd, at about 22.05, my father passed away after almost one month on Intensive Care.

He was 77. He had some little troubles typically connected with his age, but was otherwise a healthy person. Four days before he was admitted to the hospital, he participated in the annual dinner event of his 'copains' at the Institut Technique in Ath, and was by all accounts the healthiest and most able of the group. Four days later he was on Intensive Care, only to leave it when he was not among the living anymore.

A complicated pattern of bladder and lung infections hinted at a possibly false lead to leukemia. On top of that, stomach bleedings, swallow problems and low blood pressure led to his gradual weakening. Perhaps too much attention went to the false lead, and the load his heart was subjected to was maybe given insufficient attention. If so, I think I cannot blame the doctors. I guess it was a very complicated pattern.

As it was, for one month, his heart tried to cope with the implications, often hovering around 140.

In the end it gave up the unequal battle.

There is a fine book to write about the tremendous personality of my father, but I just don't have the heart to write even a short essay. My mother, three sisters and I are devastated. I am devastated. Papa leaves a gaping hole in our lives, and I am frightful of my mother, his wife for 49 years, having to walk alone through that great house with all those memories assaulting her.

As gruesome as the experience is - this is actually the first huge personal loss I experience in my life - I can now better comprehend the pain and suffering of people losing loved ones not only to sickness or age but also in great natural disasters, blind terrorist attacks, or war.

I, who have always endorsed the current war, and will continue to do so, am now feeling the pain of families losing service members in battle. It brings once again home how precious life is.

My sisters and I owe my parents enormously. My mother and father litterally started from scratch and were able to give us uncomplicated and comfortable youths with the best education we could get.

I hope that in the coming days I may be able to put down at least a small testimony to my father's love for his family and offspring, his labour ethic and his dedication to his work, his general principles in life which were conservative, though he never used that term.

My father Herman was my Great Example. It is my task to continue to live cherishing the same values he, in fact, embodied.

In 1825 Franz Schubert wrote his Opus 52, which contains seven songs inspired by Walter Scott's epic poem The Lady of the Lake, and which was translated into German by Adam Storck. Over time, the popular misconception has arisen that this is a purely religious song, and as such it has become known as Schubert's Ave Maria. In reality he labeled it Ellens dritter Gesang, Ellen's third song, and although it indeed begins with Ave Maria, and is dedicated to the Holy Virgin, its context is more worldly, describing the 'Lady of the Lake', Ellen Douglas, calling from a cave in the Scottish Highlands upon the Virgin Mary to help her and her exiled father.

In 1999, my wife and I asked the priest to play this during our Wedding Mass.

I know that this sounds insane, but the purpose of the public prayer, for which, I repeat, no authorization had been given, was to DEMAND that the City of Rome pay for the mosque congregation's bills for gas, water and electricity. Also that the City Council recognizes muslim marriage and the right to separate cemeteries.

This illegal occupation of a square in front of an Italian national symbol of paramount importance, happened too on Good Friday. You still think that is a coincidence?

This was two weeks ago, an illegal demo on the Place de la Nation in Paris. April 13. I assume this demo was meant against the burka ban.

Muslims will turn Europe in a dirt poor third world hellhole. They will take away our freedom, and much more. Be prepared to USE DEADLY FORCE AGAINST MUSLIMS when the time is there.

Back in the days before Cat Stevens saw the darkness and turned into a raving lunatic, he produced several jewels. All that came to an end with his conversion, which is once more proof of the wicked, destructive character of the death cult known as 'islam'. Ironically, Morning has broken is actually a christian hymn dating back to 1931, when a British author of children's books, Eleanor Farjeon, set its lyrics to a Gaelic tune known as Bunessan (Bunessan is also a village on the southern shore of the Scottish Island of Mull). Stevens did popularize it though when he included a version on his 1971 album Teaser and the Firecat.

The first half of the following video contains an electronic adaptation by the Russian composer of electronic music Eduard Artemyev of Bach's memorable chorale prelude for organ, Ich ruf zu dir, Herr Jesu Christ (BWV 639). BWV stands for Bach Werke Verzeichnis, Bach Works Catalogue.

You can listen to a classic form here. As you may be beginning to suspect, I am rather fond of baroque music.

The film fragment above is from the second adaptation of Polish science fiction writer Stanislaw Lem's famous novel Solaris (1961), more precisely Andrei Tarkovsky's 1972 version. There was a 1968 movie adaptation for Soviet TV, and then there's of course the 2002 Steven Soderbergh version with George Looney. The latter certainly has its merits plus the advantage of a big budget and and an arsenal of special effects; however, personally I prefer the Tarkovsky film. Somewhere in the late eighties, as an engineering student in Ghent, during the yearly International Film Festival in that city, I unsuspectingly walked into a movie theater - IIRC Sphinx, on the Sint-Michielshelling - where they happened to play Solaris. Ghent's International Film Festival offers the possibility to see rare material. Two hours later, I was sold. I did have some trouble with the slow pace, the psychological drama and the obvious paucity on the set, which shows almost exclusively the interior of a decrepit space station that has been orbiting the planet of Solaris for many years. Mind you, this was supposed to be Tarkovsky's answer to Kubrick's 2001, A Space Odyssey.

I can say that as far as I'm concerned, I consider Tarkovsky's movie altogether a far more satisfying movie experience than 2001. 2001 is great, absolutely, and its special effects were groundbreaking - if you check it out even now, more than forty years after its release, the depiction of spacecraft still doesn't look outdated. But... 2001 has forever left me with a feeling of having been fooled. I'm still clueless about it, and I'm sure gazillions of people are. Kubrick hasn't connected with his audience.

How different is Solaris. Frankly, I was baffled at its end. I just hope that I don't spoil it for you, if after this post you intend to see it.

The Lithuanian actor Donatas Banionis, whom you see in the fragment above, is a perfect cast for the novel's main characther Kris Kelvin. His neutrino 'wife' is Natalya Bondarchuk, Hari in the movie, a very beautiful woman.

TAUGHT AT A GERMAN HIGH SCHOOL NEAR YOU...

In 2006, German Interior Minister Wolfgang Schauble was the initiator of the so-called Deutsche Islam Konferenz (DIK), simply "German Islam Conference", of which one of the aims was to introduce islamic lessons in German high schools to inform muslim pupils "correctly" about their religion and to enhance a dialogue with non-muslim pupils. At the time, according to Schauble, this was THE tactic par excellence to enter into a competition with radical islam.

"We all agree that this is the way that should now be followed," Interior Minister Wolfgang Schauble, who hosted the conference, told journalists.

It was an unexpectedly long and heated debate. But after four hours of discussion, the 30 participants of DIK, a round- table launched by Schauble in 2006, announced their support for introducing classes on Islam at public schools in Germany. Participants also agreed to support the construction of more mosques in Germany and fight against Islamic radicalism.

"In the not too far future, we - where there is a wish and a need for it - will have Islam religion classes at German schools," Schauble said. Classes are to be held in German.

There are approximately 800,000 Muslim children in Germany, but only 12 percent are taught about their religion at school. So far it has been difficult to organize Islam lessons at German schools because Germany's Muslims do not have a central institution to represent them. Education regulations in Germany are decided according to each state. Muslim associations are expected to provide the content of the classes while the state is responsible for organizing and financing the teaching.

In the past, most federal governments have had no contact points among the Muslim community. "There is little unity among Muslims," said Manfred Schreiner from the Nuremberg education department. Schauble appealed to Muslims in Germany to form major associations in each federal state which can represent the many scattered Islamic groups.

"It is a huge step toward integration," said Remzi Guneysu, a Turkish-German engineer and founder and chairman of the Islamic Religious Community Erlangen (IRE). The Bavaria-based IRE is one of very few examples where Muslims in Germany set up an association to cooperate with the state. Six years ago, the IRE was thus able to introduce Islam classes at a German school. "Our teachers have build bridges of integration between the religions," said Guneysu in an interview with the Turkish Daily News. "The classes help to abolish prejudices." Guneysu added that the behavior of children changed after religion classes were introduced. "They treat each other with more respect. And they are able to discuss Islam and other religious issues with their school friends in German."

A model project at a school in Lower Saxony showed that there were less fights between students of Turkish and Arabic origins in school yards after Islam lessons in German were introduced. Also, parents felt more encouraged to participate at meetings or events held at their children's schools.

"After only a few years of experience in Erlangen we can already say that Islam lessons do not block the integration of Muslims into our society but instead foster tolerance and an understanding of each other," said Guneysu. "The overall positive effects cannot be overlooked."

ANGELICA KAUFFMANN, NEOCLASSICIST PAINTER (1741-1807).

As a young boy I recall looking eagerly forward every week to my dad's monthly Reader's Digest issue, which in the Low Countries is called Het Beste. One month, there was an article about Angelica Kauffmann, and I've never forgotten that name.

She was a neoclassical painter of Swiss origin (born in Chur, Graubuenden, in 1741). At a very young age, she learned the craft of painting from her father, Johann Joseph Kauffmann. The Kauffmanns seem to have moved around quite a lot, and so it was that young Angelica, who showed marked talent already in her twelfth year, came to the attention of the Bishop of Como, the Duke of Modena and the Governor of Milan, respectively, who all requested her to paint their portraits.

Further honing her talents in Parma, Florence, Rome and Venice, in the latter place she made the acquaintance of English noblemen, who persuaded her to take up residence in London. This was in 1766. Notable works she crafted there are "The Mother of the Gracchi", "The Legend of Cupid and Psyche", "The Sacrifice of Messalina" and the "Meeting of Edgar and Elfrida". GAIA, Deep Ecology, Ecosophy and whatever nonsense you care to name it are the logical result of the spiritual vacuum that originated in the West's rejection of Christendom. No one of the "great" thinkers of these fake pseudoreligions, because that is what they are, apparently ever came so far, in their 'intellectual' demarches, to notice that the world's NGO's bothered with blind people on Manaus' streets, polio in West Africa, extreme poverty in Calcutta or bilharziosis victims in Egypt.... practically all come from Christian nations... or nations that once were Christian.

In their eyes christianity was always a tool for oppression, and a ludicrous explanation for the wonders of the Universe. So they saw fit to discard it, judging it superfluous in this 'glorious' new world.

But Man is in his essence a Religious Being. Earlier this week I talked about this issue - a.o. - to the priest in my village, who recalled many conversations with ardent atheists (the worst among them Parti Socialiste hacks of course). This Priest, Father Luc D., told me that basically, human beings, a few exceptions notwithstanding, cannot live without some kind of religion. He told me of the troubles many atheists had as their age advanced.

It ensues that most people who discard their religion - and most earthlings who did so in recent decades were westerners - will inevitably look for something else to fill the void.

Now, Christianity is an anthropocentric religion par excellence - it places Man central in this world, and it entrusts him with possession of the earth - for good or for bad, we would of course be smart to rule it wisely - but that is the essence. It is US, men and women and our offspring, who are ENTITLED to this planet and must make best use of it.

Moreover, since according to christianity's Holy Book Man is made after the image of God, Christians get a profound sense of the Being Unique of Man, of his intrinsical value, of the preciousness of human life. It is precisely this worldview that has led to the typical western inclination to help wherever necessary if possible. Charity is a western concept.

Wise men such as e.g. Friedrich Hayek, who himself was an agnostic, fully understood the essentially benign nature of christendom. In his book The Fatal Conceit, Hayek writes:

"Even those among us, like myself, who are not prepared to accept the anthropomorphic conception of a personal divinity ought to admit that the premature loss of what we regard as nonfactual beliefs would have deprived mankind of a powerful support in the long development of the extended order that we now enjoy, and that even now the loss of these beliefs, whether true or false, creates great difficulties.” (Hayek, F.A., The Fatal Conceit, p. 137)

If despite this obviously Positive-Towards-Man worldview people decide to throw christianity under the bus, you'd better hope that if leaders of men who espouse the same anti-christian views replace it with something that's at least as good - for Man, that is.

As history teaches us, not even Leftists who PRETEND to care for Man - and even I am willing to acknowledge that at the basis of leftist thinking there is a kernel of earnestness in their desire to help the downtrodden of this earth...

Because once your New Religion places the interests of 'Gaia' higher than those of Man, and the bozos who profess to this travesty achieve power, Man is REALLY in trouble. Luckily, greens represent thus far a smaller challenge to humanity's well-being than leftists since their numbers are less impressive. Leftists have left their trail on this planet from Marx, Engels and Hitler in Europe over Nasser in Egypt and Nyerere in Tanzania to Pol Pot in Cambodia and Kim Il Sung in North Korea. But Greens are a relatively recent phenomenon and to be encountered in force only, thus far, in Europe and North America. The fact that their worldview is so insane is another reason why it's less widespread.

But they are gaining, and the April 18 vote in the UN Assembly, orchestrated by a Bolivian quack, is proof for that. That, plus the fact that if you are a father of young children, you will doubtlessly find green insanity in your kids' schoolbooks - the indoctrination starts early.

People who would dismiss the UN vote on Earth's 'Human Rights' as a funny but otherwise harmless pastime, would do well to study the works of the fella who launched the Gaia concept: scientist, futurologist and environmentalist James Lovelock. Believe me, if you walk on two legs and can speak you're better off with good ole Christianity than with the Religion of Mother Earth, as designed by Mr Lovelock, because for him Humanity is 'an out of control cancer that Gaia will soon eradicate'.

Mr Lovelock has ardent supporters who are somewhat more specific:

ISLAMIC RELIGIOUS POLICE TARGETTING WOMEN, GAYS IN LONDON'S CENTER.

Regular reader and commenter Joanne linked to this story about the 'London Taliban' imposing their will on the populace of the Tower Hamlets neighborhood. From the Daily Mail Online, April 18, 2011:

"An Asian woman who works in a pharmacy in east London was told to dress more modestly and wear a veil or the shop would be boycotted. When she went to the media to talk about the abuse she suffered, a man later entered the pharmacy and told her: 'If you keep doing these things, we are going to kill you'.

The 31-year-old, who is not a practising Muslim, said she has since been told to take holiday by the pharmacy owners and now fears she may lose her job.
She said: 'Why should I wear a hijab (headscarf) or burqa? I haven't done anything wrong.'

Other incidents reported include the placing of stickers across the white-minority borough which state it is a 'gay-free zone' and the daubing of paint on posters for clothing shop H&M featuring women in bikinis."

It should be noted that Tower Hamlets is definitely not a drab suburb on London's outskirts. No, it's a borough almost smack in the center of London, just east of the City, on the north bank of the River Thames. It's encompassing much of London's redeveloped Docklands region, a.o. Canary Wharf and the West India Docks. Many of London's tallest buildings in London are actually located in this area, notably on the so-called Isle of Dogs.

The enemy is not only inside the gates, he's lunching in the donjon.

Sad as this tale is, it does not surprise me in the least. London is simply undergoing an amsterdamization - Amsterdam in The Netherlands knows this phenomenon perfectly well.

Here and here are a couple of stories about gays being harassed in Amsterdam, to the point that they are actually forced to leave a thorughly islamized neighborhood. Yes, it has come this far. But it won't stop here, to the contrary, it is just the beginning.

This is a story about a lesbian couple in Amsterdam's East. The couple is leaving the neighborhood. The ladies can no longer bear being harassed, humiliated and threatened each and every day by moroccans.

The title reads 'Chasing away lesbian couple new deep mark'. On the video still you can read 'Voice of victim of anti-gay violence' and 'then I was called after: next time we knife you down dirty queer'.

I am willing to acknowledge that there is quite possibly a segment of muslim immigrants that just wants to keep a low profile and earn a living, and this within the law or possibly just skirting it. That does by no means mean that I think they don't bear non-muslims ill will. Islam simply has to produce hatred, and even in non-practicing muslims the hatred permeates to a level that is maybe shallow, but that is nevertheless there. The only good muslim is a muslim that is leaving islam.

The thing is, it deduces that a society would do wise not to consider an islamic presence as something like a fruit salad bowl. It's not that we can say, oh, we will just accept this kind of unharmful muslims and dispense with the radicals. No no no. It doesn't work like that. You always get the full package. You know a muslim family that's apparently reasonably integrated, with dad working, obviously staying away from politics and not visiting the local mosque too often, and teen daughters wearing jeans and long, visible hair.

A few years hence, he may develop into an islamic zealot.

Only if a country has no muslim immigrants, will it be able to have a society at peace. Mind you, that still does not make it safe from islamic terrorism.

RIO SHOOTER MENEZES DE OLIVEIRA WAS A MUSLIM CONVERT.

We have all read the sad news that on April 7, a Brazilian madman entered a school in Rio de Janeiro, and started emptying his guns in the schoolcrowd. Ten girls and two boys were killed, and ten girls and two boys wounded. All victims were between 10 and 15 years of age. Given the circumstances, police were quick on the scene and when one shot the killer in the leg, he put a gun to his head and killed himself.

The shooter appeared to be 23-year old Wellington Menezes de Oliveira.

Then, suddenly, the story went cold.

We now know why.

The killer was a muslim convert.

But you won't find that on any western media outlet. You have to check out Spanish-speaking sites and al-Arabiya, for God's sake, to get to know that tidbit. According to his sister, de Oliveira was 'obsessed with muslim things' and last time that she saw him, he had grown a beard.

Now, what do you think the chances are this case would still be with us if that guy had been a Tea Partier hmmmmmmm?

I burn CD's not very often, but last time I tried it, iTunes did not sport the burn button below anymore... and there wasn't a possibility either in any rightclick menu or whatever.

ANTWERP: SOCIALIST-DOMINATED CITY COUNCIL ACTIVELY ASSISTING IN THE PLANNED CONSTRUCTION OF TWO SUPERMOSQUES.

"The City of Antwerp eyes a storage complex on the Noorderlaan as a fitting location for a supermosque. At the intersection of the Noorderlaan and the Michiganstraat on the Luchtbal (well-known high-rise neighborhood in Antwerp's north - MFBB) lie the former GM buildings. These are now the property of one family. "We want to hire the complex in order to provide for a mosque", says Monica De Conick (SP.a), Town Selectwoman for Diversity [SP.a = Flemish Socialist Party - MFBB]. "The huge mosque should provide a solution for the many ill-equipped mosques in Antwerp, which sometimes cause trouble." The grand mosque in Luchtbal must provide room for hundreds [sic - meant is thousands. - MFBB] of faithful and is, according to Monica De Conick, situated perfectly. "There is sufficient parking space and there's a tramway. The plan is of course that the moslim community pays everything" [what a howler - MFBB]. "As a city, we only help in the search for a suitable spot. In Antwerp's south we also look for a place for a grand mosque".

Monica De Coninck is, like her boss Patrick Janssens, the mayor of Antwerp, a prominent member of the socialist party in Belgium's most important port. Like every good socialist, she has been groping in the taxpayer pot for her own benefit. Nine years ago, she was chairwoman of Antwerp's OCMW (Openbaar Centrum voor Maatschappelijk Welzijn - Public Welfare Center) and as such, she managed to siphon 9,172 EUR away from the OCMW's funds to pay for a shower in her private home. Two years later, and with Monica De Coninck still chairwoman, news leaked that the OCMW's books showed an inexplicable deficit of 50 million EUR, for which De Coninck had no explanation other than that "no one had bothered to do the OCMW's accountancy for the past three years". When our son was born in 2007, we paid a visit to a dear uncle and his German wife in Kapellen, an affluent town perhaps ten kloms north of Antwerp, and I recall that during this visit my uncle confided to me that at that moment Antwerp counted 36 mosques already. So when the article above states that currently, there are 43 mosques, it means that in just four years, another 7 have been added. And now De Coninck is actively lobbying for not one, but TWO supermosques. One in Antwerp's north, one in Hoboken, Antwerp's south. WITH the full backing of mayor Patrick Janssens of course. As in the rest of Europe, the most ardent supporters of the continent's islamization are the socialists. And the tactics employed differ not significantly from one country to another. First local mosques spring up everywhere, whereby the mosquegoers deliberately cause a lot of trouble to the neighborhood. In central Antwerp, in one case two prayer houses were installed on either side of a house inhabited by an autochton couple. After a while, the couple, thorughly terrorized and intimidated by the yelling and chanting, had to sell their house - for a bargain of course. The net result was a local mosque organized on the premises of three houses. With the massive and orchestrated influx of muslims, every year more room has to be provided so that the newcomers can actively profess their faith. And so, cliques of muslim representatives, either handwringing or with a smug smile on their face, or both, head to the City Council to "propose" a fitting solution: a HUGE mosque has to be built somewhere to accommodate all the faithful. The current Antwerp situation is a fine study in microcosm of this process, as it has been repeated, is being repeated, and will be repeated a thousandfold all across Europe. Right now, Mrs. De Coninck assures us that "the city will not pay for the mosque, the muslim community has to finance it itself, the city is only 'helping' to find a suitable location". In practice however, a huge part of the dough will doubtlessly come from the indigenous Antwerpian taxpayer, and the rest will be provided by Pakistani or Saudi Arabian madrassahs, or by the Turkish DITIB organization. But if you thought that the 43 "small" mosques in Antwerp's inner city will subsequently will be abolished, I have a bridge across the river Scheldt to sell you. Here are some of the current ones:

- El Mouslimin mosque (Moroccan), Jan Palfijnstraat, 2060 Antwerpen: capacity: 2,868 persons (1,426 m2);

- Imam Buhari mosque (a Diyanet-mosque), Everaertstraat, 2060 Antwerpen: capacity: 2,350 persons;

- Mehmet Akif mosque (Turkish), Dendermondestraat 34, 2018 Antwerpen, capacity: 1,500 personen (840 m2). Recently announced it will enlarge, planning is already well advanced

- Attaqwa mosque (Moroccan), Van Duyststraat 35-37, Deurne, capacity: 900 persons;

- Mohsinien mosque (Moroccan), Sint-Lambertusstraat 68, Berchem, capacity: 800 persons;

- Noor Ul-Haram mosque (Pakistani), Van Kerckhovestraat, 2060 Antwerpen: capacity 550 (655 m2).

It can be stated, with mathematical certainty, that the building of two supermosques north and south of Antwerp's center will NOT lead to the disappearance of the mosques in the inner city. Naturally, ONLY ONE party opposes the relentless islamization of Flanders' most important city. As per usual... the VLAAMS BELANG. The VB's leader in Antwerp, and candidate for the post of mayor in next year's elections, is Filip Dewinter. This is Dewinter on the proposed supermosques:

"It is unacceptable that the City Council keeps collaborating with islam and is actively cooperating in the buildup of a Flemish islam pillar. Antwerp is a Flemish and Christian city; a city of cathedrals and belfries, not of mosques and minarets. The City Councl is now signing up for a complete islamization of Antwerp. Town selectwoman Fatima De Coninck capitulates for islam."

"The construction, with the cooperation of the City Council, of two supermosques has nothing to do with guaranteeing the right to freedom of religion, but everything with the 2012 municipal elections. It is a stunt of the SP.a [Flemish socialist party - MFBB] to flatter Antwerps' muslim electorate so that Janssens [Patrick Janssens, notorious socialist apparatchik and current mayor - MFBB] can in the end still be kept on the mayor's seat. SP.a is prepared to islamize this city further for the sole purpose of obtaining the votes of muslims to be a factor of power in this city. This is why the Vlaams Belang is seriously considering to demand a municipal referendum on the construction of these two supermosques. Let the Antwerpian himself give his opinion about the continuing islamization of his city."

TOMASO GIOVANNI ALBINONI: ADAGIO IN G MINOR.

From Tomaso Albinoni, famous Venetian Baroque composer much admired by Johann Sebastian Bach.

There is some ambiguity with regards to the authorship of this piece, since its composer was actually the 20th century Italian musicologist Remo Giazotto. He claimed however that it was based on a sonata by Albinoni, which he found right at the end of WWII in the archives of the Saxon State Library.

Most of us have read about or heard of Senator Lindsey Graham's remarks about limiting freedom of speech, "because in WWII that was happening also". This following the burning of a koran copy by Florida pastors Wayne Sapp and Terry Jones, which provoked violent muslim reactions worldwide.

That's absolute bogus, and sheer intellectual dishonesty.

In WWII, there were indeed severe limitations on freedom of speech. But not of the kind that Graham envisages. Back then, nobody, I mean NOBODY, would have prohibited you of burning a copy of Mein Kampf, nazism's 'holy book'. On the contrary, you would have gotten pats on the shoulder.

You would, on the other hand, have been made to shut up, or even imprisoned, if you would have publicly (or not so publicly) disclosed crucial info on, say, Operation Overlord, prior to D-Day. And rightly so.

It's the same here. I am all for limiting Terry Jones's freedom of speech if he announces that he will put the plans for Operation Red Sand on the internet. As for burning korans however... agree with Jones and Sapp or not (I agree with them), but if the reaction of muslim mobs to a quran burning half a world away is to attack UN workers and actually butcher people trying to put their islamic hellhole of a country on track for the 21st century...

Sorry for the light blogging. Been a rough week. Workload heavy, plus my dad narrowly escaped death. Was hospitalized on the 31st or so with an infection of the, what's the English word for urineblaas? Anyway, Friday morning 8 days ago at three o'clock in the morning his kidneys stopped working and he had a cardiac arrest. The doctor called my mother and told her to expect the worst, and warn me and my siblings. Three days of a certain mix of antibiotics had no effect (Ciproxine, Augmentin). It was only after they started administring Negaban on Monday morning that the tide began to turn. This afternoon he left intensive care for his normal room, where he was admitted nine days ago. Physically, being the strong person that he always was (he's 77 now), he has made a remarkable recovery. But - he's having hallucinations every now and then. I just hope this is a side effect of the plethora of drugs he got to get him thru.

Anyway, over here we keep our fingers crossed, knowing full well there's tears and bloodshed everywhere these days. Japan, Libya... the world sucks. And right this morning I attended the funeral of the father of one of my best friends. He's not coping with it well. God knows I wouldn't either were I in his place.

Have a nice weekend yet. Will try to flesh out some decent posts in the coming week.

BELGIAN AIR FORCE IN ACTION OVER LIBYA.

Since Monday, March 21 the Belgian Air Force participates in enforcing the no-fly zone above Libya and its coastal waters. To help enforce the naval blockade, there's also the minehunter BNS Narcis. The planes detailed with the task are six F-16s operating from the Greek Araxos AFB, on the north side of the Peloponnesus peninsula. Apart from denying airspace to Libyan aircraft, they also attack ground targets. Just this evening, the Belgian MoD released these images of an attack on a Libyan airfield:

The following video shows a strike on a hangar. What's weird is that the contents of the hangar seem to be blown up while the structure itself remains intact. Our F-16s use either laser or GPS guided GBU12s or GBU38s, to the best of my knowledge it should be possible with both to aim them through the hangar's front and this seems to be what happened:

I am a bit clueless here. When a laser-guided bomb like the GBU12 is used, the target has to be kept in the jet pilot's seeker field. But given the widely different angles on several of the photos I wonder if not a GBU38 JDAM was used. We've shed some light on the former bomb in earliers posts. As for the latter, the Belgian Air Force has had it in its inventory since a couple of years, and has been using it in Afghanistan. Below is a pic of one of our F-16s on KAF (Kandahar Airfield) being armed with a GBU38 (JDAM). It's actually a fairly recent weapon. I think the USAF used it in combat only as recently as 2004, and possibly only in 2006, while its cousin the GBU12 has been in use since 1976.

Naturally, the dumb*sses over at Belgian daily De Standaard, commenting on the strikes, had it completely wrong again when they described the plane destroyed as a "Sukhoi 2": "Het vernietigde toestel was van het type Sukhoi 2, vergelijkbaar met Mirages waar de Belgische tot begin jaren '90 mee vloog."

Translation: "The destroyed aircraft was a Sukhoi 2, comparable to the Mirages with which the Belgian Air Force flew until the early nineties".

Duh. This is a Sukhoi-2:

The Belgian Armed Forces have been starved of funds since time immemorial, but I don't think that even our Air Force wasn't using "something comparable" as late as the early nineties.

Personally I think it's - ahem, it was - rather a Sukhoi-22, of which the LAF at its zenith operated around 90 units. As of January 2011, the Libyans would still have used around 40 of them. If you look at the silhouette of the plane on the second photo above, and then compare it to the photo below, I think a Su-22 is indeed your best bet:

In light of the terrible situation in Japan, I find it almost heartbreaking that I feel just as well compelled to write a post on another topic that I can't get out of my mind.

The earthquake near Japan and the ensuing tsunami have claimed as yet an estimated 12,000 lives, and this number will undoubtedly rise. Then there is the horrible scenario of massive radiation pollution that may affect the lives of millions of Japanese.

Compared to this drama, the human mind tends to rationalize away the loss of "just" five Jewish lives over the weekend in Itamar, Samaria. And yet...

... and yet, somehow this grusome act of terror seems to demand my attention to an equal degree, since it is yet one more indication of the grave predicament that islam poses to humanity. Radiation pollutes the body, but islam pollutes the soul. How else can you explain that upon learning of the massacre of a peaceful Jewish family, the Palestinian reaction was...

However, it's hard to tell what is more disgusting. The festivities of the Palestinians or the deafening silence of western media. Being a Belgian, I am all too well acquainted with the country's notorious "top" newspaper "De Standaard" (an oxymoron if ever there was one). No other Belgian newspaper matches this rag's vicious anti-Israel propaganda. And sadly, with this latest gruesome murder on two Itamar residents and their young children De Standaard has managed to hit yet another low.

To put matters in perspective, last fall they found it necessary, on three occasions, to lament a video showing an Israeli trooper dancing around a Palestinian prisoner. Below is a screenshot of one such occasion. The date is October 5, 2010:

"... Israeli TV on Monday released a new video wherein an Israeli soldier is mocking a Palestinian prisoner. Indeed, the soldier is dancing around a young veiled woman who is blindfolded. A couple of weeks ago news leaked that a former female Israeli trooper put photos on Facebook dealing with her service time. On them, she posed laughing next to Palestinian prisoners with blindfolded eyes and hands tied behind their backs. Moreover, the images were accompanied by lewd commentary.

On te new images an Israeli soldier can be seen performing a parody of an oriental dance around a young veiled woman standing still against a wall, blindfolded and handcuffed. On the background music can be heard, as well as laughter from friends.

Palestinian authorities have asked Israel to take harsh measures against the "immoral and inhumane behaviour" of the soldier."

I was quickly able to find this particular article since five and a half months after date, non-subscribers to De Standaard Online can still google it and have it represented in full.

The murders on the Fogel family happened on March 11 - four days ago.

And not only that, even in the face of this grotesque monstrosity they have the NERVE!!!!! to immediately spin their message in a condemnation of Israeli building projects in Judea and Samaria!!!

If De Standaard represents the standard for something, it surely has to be the standard for Internet Excrement.

Well, since our self-proclaimed "top" newspaper so utterly fails to inform us somewhat on the matter, I will do the job they are supposed to do.

TIME TO STAND BY JAPAN.

No music this night because I deem it inappropriate at a time when Japan has to cope with the consequences of one of the biggest ever natural disasters to befall that country. A country and a people, it should be said, which I very much admire and respect.

My thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their relatives.

Special attention must of course go to those directly affected by the explosion at the Fukushima plant. In a country where the collective psyche of its citizens is burdened by the memory of the Hiroshima and Nagasaki atomic explosions, the nuclear fallout and possible meltdown at the 40-year old reactor must doubtlessly touch raw nerves.

Knowing the joy that children bring, I am thinking especially of parents with young children and pregnant women. I hope the authorities will do anything in their power and beyond to get people out of the danger zone, treat them well, and neutralize the risk at the plant. All hail to the brave crews who have to move inside the stricken reactor's premises.

FETULLAH GULEN: A DARK FORCE BEHIND TURKEY'S ISLAMIC RADICALIZATION - AND A TROJAN HORSE INSIDE THE US.

The time has come to consider throwing Turkey out of NATO. A compelling article by Janet Levy over at American Thinker: "Turkey and the restoration of the Caliphate":

"...Since the end of World War I when the German-allied Ottoman Empire was defeated and the sultanate and caliphate were replaced by the Republic of Turkey, Turkey has been an important U.S. ally because of its size, strategic location and profitable business opportunities for American companies. Although designated a "neutral" country during World War II, Turkey supplied the Germans with substantial quantities of chromites, essential minerals which harden steel for armor. The Turks didn't declare war against Germany until 1945, ostensibly to be a party to final negotiations at war's end. That same year, Turkey became a United Nations charter member and, as part of the U.N. command, participated in the Korean War, thereby earning a much desired place in NATO in 1952. The United States and Turkey enjoyed close bilateral relations through the post-Cold war period.

Today the government in Turkey has moved away from the West, particularly the United States and Israel, and toward Iran and Syria, effectively changing the balance of power in the Middle East and across the globe. Turkey is actively and more openly pushing for Islamization and an expanded role for the Muslim Brotherhood. In 2007 on Turkish television, Erdogan admonished Westerners' use of the term "moderate Islam," by declaring, "These descriptions are very ugly, it is offensive and an insult to our religion. There is no moderate or immoderate Islam. Islam is Islam and that's it."

That should have set off alarms in the West and extinguished any fantasies of Turkey's role as a pillar of "moderate" Islam. Erdogan had made earlier alarming statements, similarly ignored as in 1994, while mayor of Istanbul, when he avowed, "Thank God Almighty, I am a servant of the Shariah." Further confirming his strategy in 1996 after he was dismissed as mayor, the future Prime Minister stated, "Democracy is like a streetcar. You ride it until you arrive at your destination and then you step off." Since 2002, the Turkish government has been pursuing a version of Islam closely aligned with the Wahhabi extremist Islam of the Saudis.

The Erdogan government publicly claims to be democratizing Turkey but has curtailed freedom of the press, jailed and sued journalists for criticizing the government and confiscated newspapers and sold them to AKP sympathizers. AKP supporters have infiltrated the military and are suspected of wiretapping and evidence fabrication against retired military officers. Erdogan lowered the age for judgeships in order to replace nearly half of all judges with his younger AKP sympathizers. He also removed banking regulatory board members and replaced them with Islamic banking officials and is reported to have received significant financing from Saudi Arabia, including a known Al Qaeda financier.

Anti-Semitism and attacks against Christians and Catholics have increased in Turkey. Expressions of Armenian heritage and culture have been denied, church property has been confiscated, Armenian instruction has been limited to two hours per week (although Sunni Islam classes are required in Turkish public schools) and it is illegal to discuss the Armenian Genocide. Although Turkey previously enjoyed good relations with Israel, the Jewish state is now declared an enemy of Turkey and the media has promoted an anti-Semitic TV series and several anti-Semitic films. Last year, instead of sending aid through legal channels to Gaza and despite Israel's appeals to the government to stop the action, AKP officials openly supported the Gaza flotilla in partnership with the Global Muslim Brotherhood network. Turkey facilitated the purchase and departure from Turkish ports of the lead flotilla ship, the MV Mavi Marmara. Further, the AKP is closely tied to the Muslim Brotherhood whose spiritual leader -- Yusuf al-Qaradawi -- calls for Islamic domination of Europe. That Turkey, a NATO member, should have such alliances is quite concerning.

In 2010, Erdogan received a human rights award from Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi and recently refused to impose sanctions on Gaddafi's regime, even as Gaddafi has used fighter jets to kill his own people.

Just this past week, Erdogan visited Germany and told an audience of 10,000 Turkish Germans (of three million in Germany) not to assimilate but to remain part of Turkey. Turkey has used Germany as a strategic base in Europe and sends young Turks, who have fulfilled their military service, into Germany through the extremist Islamic Society of Milli Gorus (IGMG). IGMG members with German-born daughters are encouraged to marry off their daughter to these Turkish males so that they can obtain permanent residency status and create a fifth column of Turkish Islamists. Trade between Turkey and Iran increased by more than 86% last year and Turkey has been supplying Iran's missile program. In return, Iran has agreed to contribute $25 million to the AKP for the upcoming election in June..."

The article then sheds light on the sinister personage of Fetullah Gulen, a closet islamic radical with Gramscian tactics:

"...A significant component and AKP ally in the changing face of Turkey has been the influential Gulenist Movement led by Fetullah Gulen, a powerful force in Turkey for over four decades. Gulen began a grassroots movement in the 1970's with the Islamist political party, Milli Gorus, a worldwide Islamist movement with ties to the Muslim Brotherhood. AKP emerged from Milli Gorus to restore Islamic religion and culture.

The foundation of Gulen's teachings is that state and religion should be reconnected and the country re-emerge as part of a pan-Turkic regional power. A 2009 article in the Middle East Quarterly by Rachel Sharon-Krespin titled "Fethullah Gulen's Grand Ambition" quotes sermons delivered by Gulen on Turkish television in 1999 which provide insights into his methods.

"You must move in the arteries of the system without anyone noticing your existence until you reach all the power centers ... until the conditions are ripe, they [the followers] must continue like this. If they do something prematurely, the world will crush our heads, and Muslims will suffer everywhere, like in the tragedies in Algeria, like in 1982 [in] Syria ... like in the yearly disasters and tragedies in Egypt. The time is not yet right. You must wait for the time when you are complete and conditions are ripe, until we can shoulder the entire world and carry it ... You must wait until such time as you have gotten all the state power, until you have brought to your side all the power of the constitutional institutions in Turkey ... Until that time, any step taken would be too early-like breaking an egg without waiting the full forty days for it to hatch. It would be like killing the chick inside. The work to be done is [in] confronting the world. Now, I have expressed my feelings and thoughts to you all-in confidence ... trusting your loyalty and secrecy. I know that when you leave here-[just] as you discard your empty juice boxes, you must discard the thoughts and the feelings that I expressed here."

Beginning in the 1970's, Gulen began establishing a worldwide network to promote Islam and Turkish nationalism. His followers have since established hundreds of schools in over 110 countries. Gulenists operate an Islamic bank with over $5 billion in assets and own significant print and broadcast media properties, NGOs, think tanks and a publishing company. Gulen recruits Turkish youth by providing housing and education and grooms them for careers in the legal, political and academic professions. In recent years, the AKP passed legislation allowing graduates of Islamic high schools entry into Turkey's universities, guaranteeing Islamist leadership in the future. Gulen controls the majority of schools, universities and dormitories throughout Turkey. His followers remain loyal and donate up to one-third of their income to the movement. In Turkey, Gulen and the AKP together control the police, the intelligence services and the media and actively recruit diplomats for their utility as foreign intelligence satellites. Overall, the holdings are valued at up to $50 billion.

In the United States, Gulen operates the largest charter school network in America and enjoys the cooperation and protection of the U.S. government. His schools stress intercultural dialogue and tolerance. They include a curriculum that teaches the Golden Age of Turkey or the period of the Ottoman Empire, Turkish language, dance, culture, cooking and Islam, all financed by American taxpayers.

Meanwhile, his worldwide network reaches into U.S. politics through aggressive lobbying, political donations and paid trips to Turkey for members of Congress and their staffs. The Gulen Movement in the United States represents itself as a multi-faith global organization designed to bring together businesses, educators, religious leaders, journalists and others. Gulen has placed many of his followers in large U.S. engineering firms, NASA, the White House, universities and Hollywood. Through his U.S. State Department contacts, he has procured H1-B visas to staff his schools with Turkish followers.

Turkey through Gulen wields considerable power in American politics and is actively involved in lobbying Congress to promote its interests in Washington. Gulen was recently honored under Texas State Resolution No. 85, which recognized his contributions and promotion of world peace, with the Texas legislature describing the Gulen movement as fostering intercultural understanding and tolerance. During the 2008 election cycle, a Turkish-American couple, Yalcin and Serpil Ayasli -- founders of Hittite Microwave, a U.S. military contractor -- gave more money, $424,050, to politicians and political action groups than anyone else in the United States. In subsequent years, the Ayaslis have ranked among the country's top 20 donors. The couple's donations have been geared specifically toward advancing U.S. relations with Turkey and promoting Turkish interests, including stopping the Armenian Genocide Resolution. On this issue alone, "Foreign Lobbying Influence Tracker", a service that tracks lobbyist interactions with government officials, reported that Turkey lobbied Congress on the Armenian Genocide Resolution and hired foreign agents to work with influential people outside of the government, spending $3.5 million and logging over 2,200 total contacts, including 100 with the executive branch...."

The degree of ignorance among our so-called "elites" is breathtaking. During the 1,400 year long struggle of islam with the West, the country that most fiercely pursued the islamization of Europe, and deployed the most massive military means to that aim... was Turkey's former incarnation, the Ottoman Empire. And before the Ottoman Empire, the Seldchuks beat the East Roman Empire out of Anatolia.

This degree of ignorance is only matched by the seemingly willful denial of Turkey's drive to islamic radicalization.

It is amazing, but exactly this country, this 1,000 year old foe, throughout history militarily the most successful against our shores and our lands...

...exactly this country lunatic quislings like Cameron, Reinfeldt, Tusk, Zapatero et al are hellbent to make it an EU member.

AMERICA'S EXPLODING BUDGET DEFICIT.

"Over thirty years ago, in 1978, the United States government ran an annual deficit of $59 billion. In that year, a fiscally conservative legislative strategy might have been to cut $2 billion a week for the last seven months of the year. These “multiple bites at the apple” would have eventually, by year end, eliminated the deficit and actually resulted in a small surplus.
Much as the presidency of Barack Obama resembles that of Jimmy Carter, we are not in 1978. Our nation is at a tipping point and our fiscal situation is bleak. Today, we have a projected $1.65 trillion deficit. $61 billion is a mere drop in the bucket of red ink our nation is piling up literally by the minute.

Today, multiple $2 billion bites at the apple are woefully insufficient for the times we live in. Yet, according to Politico, Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) and Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) “are considering pushing forward a series of short-term continuing resolutions with targeted spending cuts that would be difficult for Democrats to oppose.”

Getting the $61 billion in cuts is an important trust-building measure between the American people and Washington – and the tea party activists and the Republican Party – since neither Washington nor Republicans have any credibility after the last ten years on the issue of spending. It is not, however, the only policy battle we must win this year.

Shortly, House Budget Chairman Paul Ryan (R-WI) will release the Republican budget for fiscal year 2012. It is vital this is a bold budget and conservatives must fight for boldness in the appropriations battles that will follow.

Sometime this spring, there will be a fight over whether to raise the debt limit. Conservatives must fight to have transformational policies attached to any legislation which raises the debt limit. Einstein’s definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again while expecting a different result. We cannot have another clean increase of the debt limit this year, which would be the sixth such increase in the last four years.

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) said the Senate needed more time to consider H.R. 1 – the House spending bill which would cut $61 billion – since it was sent to the Senate on a Saturday. The question of time to consider H.R. 1 is a funny one considering the Senate’s first move after the House passed that legislation was to take a one-week vacation.

Last week, Senator Reid released an alternative that offered only a token $6 billion in cuts. It appears Senator Reid doesn’t have a real plan to cut spending. Enter Joe Biden. As you may recall, President Obama claims “Nobody messes with Joe.” Vice President Biden was tapped by President Obama to broker a deal between the House and Senate on the budget. With two weeks left on the clock until the next budget showdown, what does Joe do? He leaves for a five-day trip to Europe. I guess it’s tough to mess with him there.

There seems to be a pattern developing. In Wisconsin, when Democrats want to stall what Governor Walker is trying to do, they flee. Two weeks ago, faced with a continuing resolution passed by the House of Representatives, the Senate went on vacation. Today, Vice President Biden, tapped with brokering a compromise, leaves for Europe.

The House of Representatives has passed a modest $61 billion in spending cuts. These cuts pale in comparison to $474 billion in spending increases just since 2008. Now is not the time to be fouling off pitches. America demands and deserves bold leadership in Washington...."

In his first year in office, Obama oversaw a tripling of the already huge budget deficit from 459 billion US$ to 1.4 trillion US$, mainly as a result of the much-vaunted stimulus bill (ARRA), the takeover of Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae, the Wall Street bailout and the Omnibus spending bill.

The budget deficit in 2010 was 1.294 trillion US. Together with interests this lifted the exising public debt from 11.9 trillion US$ to 13.8 trillion US$.

The 2011 budget deficit was scheduled to be around 1.48 trillion US$, as the federal budget foresaw expenses of 3.708 trillion dollar while revenues were expected to be 2.228 trillion US$. This would mean that at the end of 2011 the public debt would reach well beyond 15 trillion US$.

However, when in February of this year Obama released his 2012 Federal Budget, it appeared the projected 2011 deficit had been updated to 1.645 trillion US$, or around 165 billion dollars more.

The bipartisan CBO (Congressional Budget Office) itself projects significant debt increases as it sees only comparable budget deficits ahead - adding "give and take" something in the neighborhood of 1.3 trillion US$ on average to the national debt every year for the coming decade. This means that already in 2015 the debt will have reached the colossal level of 20 trillion US$.

It is only when you ponder these gigantic numbers that the folly of Boehners 61 billion dollar cuts becomes apparent. As for Harry Reid's 6 billion dollar cuts...

Mark Steyn sheds light on the killing of two US servicemen at Frankfurt Airport by a muslim. From the OC Register, March 6, 2011:

"According to Bismarck's best known maxim on Europe's most troublesome region, the Balkans are not worth the bones of a single Pomeranian grenadier. Americans could be forgiven for harboring similar sentiments after the murder of two U.S. airmen in Germany by a Kosovar Muslim.

Remember Kosovo? Me neither. But it was big at the time, launched by Bill Clinton in the wake of his Monica difficulties: Make war, not love, as the boomers advise. So Clinton did – and without any pesky UN resolutions, or even the pretense of seeking them. Instead, he and Tony Blair and even Jacques Chirac just cried "Bombs away!" and got on with it. And the Left didn't mind at all – because, for a modern Western nation, war is only legitimate if you have no conceivable national interest in whatever war you're waging. Unlike Iraq and all its supposed "blood for oil," in Kosovo no one remembers why we went in, what the hell the point of it was, or which side were the good guys. (Answer: Neither.) The principal rationale advanced by Clinton and Blair was that there was no rationale. This was what they called "liberal interventionism," which boils down to: The fact that we have no reason to get into it justifies our getting into it.

A decade on, Kosovo is a sorta sovereign state, and in Frankfurt a young airport employee is so grateful for what America did for his people that he guns down U.S. servicemen while yelling "Allahu akbar!" The strange shrunken spectator who serves as president of the United States, offering what he called "a few words about the tragic event that took place," announced that he was "saddened," and expressed his "gratitude for the service of those who were lost" and would "spare no effort" to "work with the German authorities" but it was a "stark reminder" of the "extraordinary sacrifices that our men and women in uniform are making ..."

The passivity of these remarks is very telling. Men and women "in uniform" (which it's not clear these airmen were even wearing) understand they may be called upon to make "extraordinary sacrifices" in battle. They do not expect to be "lost" on the shuttle bus at the hands of a civilian employee at a passenger air terminal in an allied nation. But then I don't suppose their comrades expected to be "lost" at the hands of an army major at Fort Hood, to cite the last "tragic event" that "took place" – which seems to be the president's preferred euphemism for a guy opening fire while screaming "Allahu akbar!" But relax, this fellow in Frankfurt was most likely a "lone wolf" (as Senator Chuck Schumer described the Times Square Bomber) or an "isolated extremist" (as the president described the Christmas Day Pantybomber). There are so many of these "lone wolves" and "isolated extremists" you may occasionally wonder whether they've all gotten together and joined Local 473 of the Amalgamated Union of Lone Wolves and Isolated Extremists, but don't worry about it: As any Homeland Security official can tell you, "Allahu akbar" is Arabic for "Nothing to see here."

Bismarck's second best-known maxim on the region is that the Balkans start in the slums of Vienna. The Habsburg imperial capital was a protean "multicultural society" wherein festered the ancient grievances of many diverse peoples. Today, the Muslim world starts in the suburbs of Frankfurt. Those U.S. airmen were killed by Arid Uka, whose Muslim Albanian parents emigrated from Kosovo decades ago. Young Arid was born and bred in Germany. He is a German citizen who holds a German passport. He is, according to multicultural theory, as German as Fritz and Helmut and Hans. Except he's not. Not when it counts.

Why isn't he a fully functioning citizen of the nation he's spent his entire life in? Well, that's a tricky one.

OK, why is a Muslim who wants to kill Americans holding down a job at a European airport? That's slightly easier to answer. Almost every problem facing the Western world, from self-detonating jihadists to America's own suicide bomb – the multi-trillion dollar debt – has at its root a remorseless demographic arithmetic. In the U.S., the baby boomers did not have enough children to maintain their mid-20th century social programs. I see that recent polls supposedly show that huge majorities of Americans don't want any modifications to Medicare or Social Security. So what? It doesn't matter what you "want." The country's broke, and you can vote yourself unsustainable quantities of government lollipops all you like, but all you're doing is ensuring that when, eventually, you're obliged to reacquaint yourself with reality, the shock will be far more devastating and convulsive.

But even with looming bankruptcy America still looks pretty sweet if you're south of the border. Last week, the former director of the U.S. Census Bureau, Steve Murdock, told The Houston Chronicle that in Texas "it's basically over for Anglos." He pointed out that two out of every three children are already "non-Anglo," and that this gap will widen even further in the years ahead. Remember the Alamo? Why bother? America won the war, but Mexico won the peace. In the Lone Star State, Murdock envisions a future in which millions of people with minimal skills will be competing for ever fewer jobs paying less in actual dollars and cents than they would have earned in the year 2000. That doesn't sound like a recipe for social tranquility.

What's south of Europe's border? Why, it's even livelier. In Libya, there are presently one million refugees from sub-Saharan Africa whose ambition is to get in a boat to Italy. There isn't a lot to stop them. Between now and mid-century, Islam and sub-Saharan Africa will be responsible for almost all the world's population growth – and yet, aside from a few thousand layabout Saudi princes whoring in Mayfair, they will enjoy almost none of the world's wealth. Niger had 10 million people in 2000, and half-a-million of them were starving children. By 2010, they had 15 million, and more children were starving. By 2100, they're predicted to hit 100 million. But they won't – because it would be unreasonable to expect an extra 90 million people to stay in a country that can't feed a population a tenth that size. So they will look elsewhere – to countries with great infrastructure, generous welfare, and among the aging natives a kind of civilizational wasting disease so advanced that, as a point of moral virtue, they are incapable of enforcing their borders.

The nations that built the modern world decided to outsource their future. In simple economic terms, the arithmetic is stark: In America, the boomers have condemned their shrunken progeny to the certainty of poorer, meaner lives. In sociocultural terms, the transformation will be even greater. Bismarck, so shrewd and cynical about the backward Balkans, was also the father of the modern welfare state: When he introduced the old age pension, you had to be 65 to collect and Prussian life expectancy was 45. Now life expectancy has near doubled, you get your pension a decade earlier, and, in a vain attempt to make that deformed math add up, Bismarck's successors moved the old East/West fault line from the Balkans to the main street of every German city.

Americans sometimes wonder why, two decades after the collapse of the Warsaw Pact, the U.S. Army still lives in Germany. The day is approaching when they will move out – if only to avoid any more "tragic events" "taking place."

In short, had rightwing theorems on how to govern a state and how to run an economy been dominant, the world would have been a far, far better place. For instance, the great mass of African countries that now applied afrosocialism would have gotten richer and its populations would long since have stabilized.

The accomplishments of leftist ideologies can be summed up as follows: spreading unfreedom and poverty around, thereby contributing to overpopulation. Subsequently causing migration towards rich countries, which are predominantly white. After that, in all these countries facilitating the immigration influx from exactly those poor, unfree countries, at the expense of the economy of the rich ones.

No matter which way you turn it, whatever the left touches... goes wrong. Whatever they do, whatever they promote... goes wrong. Wherever leftist thoughts are applied or enforced... it goes wrong. Nazi Germany, mass starvation in Ukraine, the "Great Leap Forward", the Killing Fields, afrosocialism, nationalizations from Bolivia to Egypt, unsustainable welfare states, killing in the womb, freedom of speech under fire in courts from Canada over The Netherlands to Austria and beyond....

... whatever the left does, or proposes, or implements...

goes WRONG.

FIRST PRODUCTION F-35 TAKES TO THE AIR.

On February 25, 2011, the first production F-35 made its maiden flight:

The West's prime new tactical fighter, the fifth generation F-35 aka Lightning II, will come in three variants:

First there's the CTOL (Conventional Take-Off and Landing) variant, the F-35A, meant to replace ageing third generation fighters in the USAF and other air forces. It is the smallest of the three variants, yet it is the only one equipped with an internal cannon, the GAU-22/A. This is a 25 mm cannon, a development of the GAU-12 which is mounted on the USMC's AV-8B Harrier II, and which is primarily meant to engage ground targets.

Somewhat surprisingly for such an expensive aircraft, the F-35A is only expected to "match" the F-16 in maneuverability and instantaneous and sustained high-g performance. It should however vastly outperform it in stealth, payload, range on internal fuel, avionics, operational effectiveness, supportability, and survivability. It will have built in the functionality of the sniper pod, a device which today is mounted under the fuselage of, typically, third generation fighters like the F-16. The F-35 A variant is mainly intended to replace the USAF's "Fighting Falcon", beginning in 2013. Plans are that it should replace the A-10 Thunderbolt II starting in 2028, which not only seems impossibly far-fetched to me but also strange, since I cannot fathom how the slender airframe of the Lightning II could ever be capable of either operating from rugged airfields, or sustain the same battle damage an A-10 can take (and still be able to fly).

The F-35B is the short takeoff and vertical landing (STOVL) variant. It's similar in size to the A, and as such, equipped with a VTOL system as quaint as it is original, has less internal volume for fuel storage, armament, or avionics to detect and engage the enemy. Lift power is provided by a huge fan directly behind the cockpit, and a jet thrust that can be rotated downwards at the back:

Plans are that the United States Marine Corps will purchase 340 F-35Bs to replace all current F/A-18 Hornet models (the A, B, C and D-variants), as well as its AV-8B Harrier II's.

Finally there's the F-35C, the Carrier variant. It has larger wings with foldable wingtip sections, stronger landing gear for not getting crippled on pitching flight decks, and larger wing and tail control surfaces for enhanced low-speed control. Of course a tailhook will be provided. With twice the range on internal fuel as an F/A-18C Hornet, the F-35C will be a worthy successor to the F/A-18E/F Super Hornet.

The United States Navy intends to buy 480 F-35Cs to replace its F/A-18A, B, C, and D Hornets, and backup the Super Hornets.

IRENE KHAN IS A SCHTOOPID CUNT (2).

Almost to the date four years ago I posted the first "Irene Khan is a schtoopid cunt" post. Let's recap a little. Back then, she had been Secretary General of Amnesty International for six years, and two years previously, in 2005, she had publicly stated that:

"The USA, as the unrivalled political, military and economic hyperpower, sets the tone for governmental behaviour worldwide,..." "When the most powerful country in the world thumbs its nose at the rule of law and human rights, it grants a licence to others to commit abuse with impunity."

"The detention facility at Guantánamo Bay has become the gulag of our times, entrenching the practice of arbitrary and indefinite detention in violation of international law," she said. " Guantánamo evokes memories of Soviet repression."

In a perfect world, if the Secretary General of a once noble institution like Amnesty International publicly made a comment like that, he or she should resign immediately. Khan litterally stated that Gitmo was the Gulag of our times, which, apart from being a blatant lie, is the apex of hyperbole. Anyone who has delved even remotely in the history of the infamous Gulag Archipelago cannot but acknowledge that Khan's remark was infuriatingly dishonest, completely baseless, and an insult to the tens of millions of Gulag inmates and their relatives. Here's a short exerpt from my post back then:

"...Below you find a map of Cuba, with the exact location of the US Naval Base at Guantanamo Bay, in Cuba's southeastern corner. Cuba is an island with a surface of 110,860 sq km (sorry, I always have troubles with kloms/miles converting), or slightly smaller than Pennsylvania. The actual detention center consists of three camps, Delta, Iguana and X-Ray, which until now have received 775 detainees, of which as of today approximately 340 have been released (a couple of tens of them immediately returning to their jihad activities and ambushing an killing US and coalition troops) and a further 110 labeled "ready for release". For those sobbing and weeping over this horrendous fact I'd like to point out that German and Japanese POW's also didn't know how long they'd be held. However, public outrage over Obersturmbannfuehrer's Schweinkopf's sad fate shoveling horse shit in the desert of Nevada was less then because people realized a war was going on.

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaand below is a map of the former Soviet Union, surface 22 million kilometers or around 200 times Cuba, and the red specks represent the known prisoner complexes in the USSR. Keep in mind that one speck does not necessarily means one camp. The Mother of all Penal Networks would ultimately count 476 camps. The most notorious area of them all - at least the one known to the general public - was in Kolyma, in the desolate wastes of eastern Siberia. There, on a surface four times the size of France, around 100 camps were set up. The highest number of detainees held at one time is estimated at 5,000,000, or 10,000 times as many as in the "gulag of our times" - Americans are schoolboys. This peak was reached during the reign of Stalin, who actually used the Gulag system not only to get rid of political opponents but also as a means of keeping the populace in a permanent state of terror, a bit like George Bush is doing now.

Why do I mention this right now? Well, perhaps it did not escape your attention, but for those who did not happen to read it, here's an interesting tidbit about Mrs. Khan:

Got that you lousy proletarian? Last year, Madame Khan bagged a severance payment of UK £533,103 from Amnesty International following her resignation from the organisation on 31 December 2009. This payment was in excess of four times her annual salary of £132,490 (!). On February 19, 2011, Peter Pack, chairman of AI's executive committee, defended the decision to pay such an outrageous sum as follows: "The payments to outgoing secretary general Irene Khan shown in the accounts of AI (Amnesty International) Ltd for the year ending March 31st 2010 include payments [were] made as part of a confidential agreement between AI Ltd and Irene Khan.... It is a term of this agreement that no further comment on it will be made by either party."

The irony is that, much to the chagrin of many first hour AI activists who doggedly and passionately did their utmost best to alleviate the plight of the planet's countless political prisoners (AI's core mission), Irene Khan deliberately tried to steer AI into a quintessential leftist dada: fighting "poverty". . I was never someone who feeds on conspiracy theories, but could it not be... could it not be that Khan, with this strange move, tried to steer away public attention for human rights abuses towards a less laden topic? Especially since THE OVERWHELMING MAJORITY OF HUMAN RIGHTS ABUSES HAPPEN IN MUSLIM COUNTRIES, AND THAT SHE IS A MUSLIM? Khan is a native of Pakistan, and each and every day that country's non-muslim population is prone to horrendous human rights violations at the hands of people who share her religion, islam.

Anyway, anno 2011 it has been demonstrated crystal clear that the best way to fight poverty is to introduce capitalism, but alas, people won't listen. Rather, they'd buy books like Khan's:
